DETAIL DESCRIPTION
Stay at your own private, comfortable, quiet waterfront cottage on Westport Island and enjoy your own safe getaway in the woods with water views from most every room! Perfect for a romantic getaway, couples traveling together, and family vacationers. The cottage offers both private and common areas to enjoy.
You'll love gathering around the fire pit in comfy Adirondack chairs at the water's edge. It's the perfect spot for morning coffee, afternoon relaxation and evening refreshments and s'mores! Enjoy the serenity of watching working lobster boats, bald eagles, low-flying osprey, and harbor seals on the incredible Sheepscot River.
The private dock is great for kayaking, boating, and casting a line on the Sheepscopt and Back Rivers.
Play yard/board games or just relax on the deck, screen porch, and hammock.
Smart TV in every bedroom and family room as well as WIFI (high speed 1Gbps mesh network) throughout the property.
You will enjoy a very private 1st floor Captain's Quarters-Master Bedroom w/high quality king bed, private bath w/stall shower, flat screen TV, and serene water views.
The First Mate's private suite on the 1st floor is at the opposite end of the cottage and features a queen bed, private full bath with shower/tub, flat screen TV and custom-made built-in bookshelves stocked with a variety of good reads.
The Crew Quarters encompasses the second floor and features a large room with one queen bed, two twin beds, private full bath with tub/shower, flat screen TV, and small balcony.
The family room has a comfortable sectional sofa, chair with ottoman, flat screen TV, DVD player, and surrounding water views.
The large dining room leads to the wrap around deck also with water views. It features a large table with seating for 6.
On the deck has a great dining table with seating for 6 and has an umbrella for sunny days. Small screen porch with seating for 4 and a small table with seating for 2.
The kitchen is nicely appointed with a gas stove, refrigerator (w/ice maker), new microwave, new dishwasher, toaster, two lobster pots, two coffee makers (Keurig & 10-cup Mr. Coffee), blender, quality pots and pans, utensils, wine glasses, lobster platters and more.
For our off-season guest rentals, the cottage has central heat on the main floor and high-quality Anderson windows so if it's chilly outside it's toasty warm inside. Especially perfect for fall foliage and Thanksgiving holiday getaways.
Easy access on and off the island by bridge. The cottage is not too far down the island so only a few minutes to get off the island and in the perfect location for exploring the mid coast area from Freeport to Boothbay to Camden and beyond.
We provide two propane tanks for the gas BBQ grill, so you never run out and a starter package of paper towels, toilet paper, bath soap and more. Newer linens for the bed and bath down comforters, beach chairs and towels, coolers, picnic basket, wine glasses, corkscrew, lobster pot steamer, blender, quality pots and pans, numerous books, indoor and outdoor games and puzzles.
Our quiet ISLAND GEMS: Bonyun preserve and other areas for hiking, Squire Tar Box Farm for fresh veggies, Island Lobster Co-Op for fresh lobster, the Daphne’s D’Zerts offering fresh homemade pies and other treats by special order, Lulu’s Garden for coffee, wine, treats and alpaca canoodling...and relaxing coastal walks.
Westport island with its central mid coast location is the perfect base camp to enjoy all the mid coast has to offer. No need to leave the island to get your lobsters, just a five-minute lobster crawl away is the North End Lobster Co-Op where you can chat with the local lobsterman and buy the days catch right off the dock! Head down island (by car or bike) or get back to nature for a walk along the Back River walking trail.
Choose from two fantastic beaches both under a 30-minute drive, Reid State Park and Popham Beach.
Wonderful Wiscasset is a 10-minute drive and where you can find awesome lobster rolls at Sprague's Lobster, several antique stores, local breweries, and our favorite restaurant Water Street Kitchen. On your way back to the house swing by "Monkey C Monkey Do" Zip Line for kids of all ages.
Freeport/L.L. Bean located 35 minutes away, offers outlet malls and free weekend concert as well as a variety of restaurants.
Historic bath, shipbuilding town at home to Bath ironworks, is about 15 minutes away. Front Street offers numerous shops, including “Made in Maine”, restaurants in the Maine Maritime Museum. A great walking town to enjoy century old architecture.
For coastal in nautical excursions, dining and shopping, had to scenic Boothbay Harbor or Camden for a whale watching, deep sea fishing, sailing excursion in numerous shops/galleries and restaurants. Boothbay is also home to the main Botanical Gardens.
