About this property
UNFORGETTABLE TIMES...500+ ACRES, 3/4 MILE ON PINE CREEK!
A DREAM FOR THOSE WHO ENJOY NATURE AND WILDLIFE ALONG WITH THE WARM PEACE OF AN EVENING FIRESIDE! Stroll along an old railroad bed beside a babbling and pristine trout stream running along breathtaking mountain views. A one-of-a-kind property with more than 500 private acres containing many hillside trails for your exclusive enjoyment--many options for hiking, horseback riding and cross-country skiing or just wandering and wondering.
The flat open areas around the cabin and our full-size barn offer a variety of sites for your private events including weddings, reunions and corporate retreats. To get even further away, an extensive variety of open and wooded trails meander across and over the mountain for many miles...and we are just up the road from the north entrance to the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon!
Sunsets bring on a sort of magnetism to our unmatched fire pit where many flames of debate have settled the differences of the past among friends. Of course, there is always another matter called to order for the next evening, or of course you can simply lean back, unwind, and find your answers in the stars...of which there are many! Very far from any neighbors, only the trees will hear your singing and tales, and they will pass along only a few whispers....
Inside the cabin, enjoy extensive hand-crafted woodwork and construction hewn from timbers on the property. Relax in front of a unique and inviting stone fireplace built from stones gathered from the property and surrounded by floor to ceiling windows. The fireplace rises from the center of the room with a cylindrical stack stretching up a two-story atrium and alongside a rustic spiral timber staircase. You won't want to leave this cabin...!
--Doors to the cabin and some out-buildings are monitored by exterior security cameras for protection of both you and us.
--Make sure you are aware of advance notice requirement and fees for linens & towels, pets, total guests more than 10 or extra room.

Our stay here was exceptional from start to finish. Beautiful house. Excellent views. Fishing in this area is phenomenal. Highly recommend this property.
The cabin is a unique but very nice place. Nice open floor plan, nice fire pit, beautiful property. The game room is a nice touch and we look forward to renting it again. Town people were all very nice also. Definitely a place to visit.

Stayed for the 4th of July weekend with 8 people and had more than enough space in the house for all of us. The place was clean when we got there, and everything was great for a weekend away from it all
Very convenient check-in/out process. The cabin was spacious and clean on an amazing piece of land. Beautiful views. Very relaxing trip. Cabin was equipped with everything we needed. We would definitely rent again!

Entire families always enjoy our cabin and property that offers such a wide variety of unique and appealing activities along with both large open, flat spaces for games along with wooded and scenic hills along miles of trails!
The property did not aupply sheets or towels even though i have an email that says they do. At 11pm when everyone went to bed we found a different email stating that that costs extra and isnt available without notice. Then the owner decided to keep my security deposit claiming that my dog damaged the sheets that he did not provide.

Unfortunately this guest failed to read the details provided explaining all the rules and accommodations. While we repeatedly urge renters to feel free to call with any questions, this guest did not reach out to us or comment until 10 days after departure and immediately following an appropriate deduction from the security deposit. We had shockingly discovered dog excrement found on a bed wrapped under a bedspread and atop the bed liner--this couldn't have been covered over like this by the dog (!!). Those soiled bed items were quickly disposed of, so no longer on the premises, just a very disappointed home-owner left behind here...
Truly amazing unconventional wooden cabin! We, a group of 8 stayed comfortably in the estate. We enjoyed so much the scenery in the morning, with the deer and landscape in front of us.Hope we will come back again next year, and spend a few more nights!Joe has been very responsive to our questions. Thanks a lot! 谢谢!Julie
Our family had a wonderful stay! Joe was very accommodating and worked with us to make our stay the best possible! He even helped us out when we had trouble with the TV on out first night. The beds were very comfortable. I was so glad they were not box spring mattresses. This place is so much prettier in person. It snowed the whole time we were there & everything was covered in ice. But that didn't stop us from exploring the property & climbing the mountain. I might have fallen a few times, but it was worth it. Thanks for allowing us to stay at such a beautiful property. We look forward to coming back!

While the cabin and accommodations have been massively upgraded in comfort and appeal, the best times are had by those who love what nature provides in the outdoors! That is why we provide and maintain many miles of trails both on the flatter stream-side setting along with the challenging mountain of ours on which you can explore and wander for miles and days!
We enjoyed our stay at the Octagon for the second year in a row. Thank you for the beautiful, peaceful accommodations.

We love our repeat guests, and our calendar is filling more and more each year with them!
During personal travels recently to Boston, my daughter and I met up with a father and son who have returned with the same extended family group for more than 8 years in a row now--what a priceless result!
Clean - accommodations bedrooms were great, kitchen was very well stocked for the meals we needed to prepare. The house was so unique we were impressed by the amount of room we actually had.The bonus game room was a nice added feature. The best feature was the outside - trails for exploring, creek for fishing, and of course the fire pit.I think the only time we used the tv was to watch the Steelers play. This was truly a remarkable adventure.

While we do have large TV's in both the cabin and our "Booth"/(game room) for perhaps inclement weather days, we think this renter was spot on with the best use of our property--there is so much natural variety, amazing sights and simple wild beauty to take in that is not available in congested, fast-paced urban settings! The outdoor experiences and memories are priceless and insatiable...and we have some great views!
The stay was spectacular and the immersion into the wildlife was stunning. The rustic and clean house was always comforting and a joy to stay in. Centrally located in the area's attractions made it easy to enjoy all the area has to offer.

Why they chose this property
We have searched the PA Wilds for purchase opportunities for more than 20 years never quite finding that 'special' place until now. We'd love to share this gem with you...
What makes this property unique
This much frontage along a pristine trout stream is a rare find. Combined with the expert country craftsmanship of the interior along with the breathtaking mountain views, this property was impossible to pass up!
