Please be our guest! Sandy Shores has been in the Hall family for over 60 years, and is currently owned and operated by Myrtle Hall. Myrtle is German-born and moved to Indian Rocks Beach in 2000 when she married her late husband, Ned. Ned’s grandmother bought the Indian Rocks Beach property in 1946. Ned's father George Hall built the first, two-story building in 1952. The one-story Gulf Cottage (vrbo/78339) followed in 1972. Ned's family lived here in the winter, and spent the summer in Ithaca, NY, where his father was the Golf Coach at Cornell University for over 40 years. Ned followed in his footsteps as a PGA Teaching Professional for over 25 years. He was teaching at the Clearwater Golf Club located in Clearwater, Florida when Myrtle, in Florida on holiday from Germany, met him in 1998. Myrtle and Ned, of course, had their wedding right in front of beautiful Sandy Shores!

Like Ned, Myrtle fell in love with this beautiful property and its rich family history. Ned and Myrtle started to rent out their cottages in 2005 after a complete beautification and enjoyed every minute of sharing this lovely property with their guests. Myrtle carries on the Hall family tradition of hospitality at Sandy Shores and adds her special brand of German warmth. Her attention to detail and cleanliness makes Sandy Shores a unique and charming retreat.

Sandy Shores is a very unique “slice of old Florida”, with lots of flowers, palms, lounging areas, privacy, all with a relaxed vibe. There are only four units on the property and three of them rent on a weekly basis – so most of the time you have the whole place to yourself.
The Gulf Cottage is a single story, one bedroom House, very private, quiet and clean with a spectacular, unobstructed view of the Gulf of Mexico. It has a king bed and a queen sleeper sofa.
The kitchen has everything what a chef would wish for, a big fridge, dishwasher, microwave and stove included. The bathroom has a bath tub / Shower.

Behind the Gulf Cottage and landscaped courtyard is a two story building – the top floor I reside in – with the PATIO and GARDEN Cottages below.
The Patio Cottage has a King Bed and Queen Sleeper Sofa, the Garden Cottage has a Queen Bed and a Queen Sleeper Sofa. Both have a full kitchen with stove, fridge and microwave. The bathroom has a Shower.

This was our 2nd family vacation in one of the Sandy Shores cottages and everything was perfect! What i love most about staying here is the location; its on the beach and we can walk to shops and restaurants. My 2nd favorite thing is all the things provided, like beach towels, chairs, umbrellas, beach toys, free washer and dryer on site, even stocked kitchen with salt and pepper and spices, etc., plastic bags and other convenience items. This place is just ideal and we will definitely stay a 3rd time in the near future!

Our stay at the Patio Cottage was great. We were greeted by Myrtle, the owner, who gave us a warm welcome and detailed overview of the cottage and amenities. The cottage had everything we needed. It is not your fancy high rise condo, instead, it’s a one story, quaint, cozy, old time, very clean beach cottage. The gardens and grounds are well kept, it was so nice relaxing in any of the many sitting areas, enjoying the beautiful gardens and beach view. The location right on the beach is wonderful, and then across the street there are multiple dining options, and a beach store. We are already looking forward to our next stay there.

5 Star, 2 Thumbs up, A, and all the above. This cottage was stunning and perfect for a quick trip to the beach. Myrtle, the owner, is warm & welcoming. She told us the history of the beautiful home and garden and gave us a thorough tour of the grounds. The room is exactly as described and shown online. She even greeted us during our "checkout" and wished us good travels. We can't wait to go back.

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at Myrtle Hall’s wonderful patio cottage this past November. It was a great time right from the start. Upon our late afternoon arrival, she guided us right through her well-appointed beachfront property to view a beautiful Florida sunset. What a thoughtful way to welcome guests! The grounds and the accommodations were lovely. Myrtle goes to great lengths to provide a comforting experience, carefully explaining everything from parking to using the TV. The location is ideal for beach strolls and offers close proximity to fine and casual dining. The apartment had beach towels, beach chairs and loungers, fully stocked bathroom including shampoo, conditioner, moisturizing lotion, and even bug spray and sun tan lotion. The kitchen had salt and pepper and the refrigerator had butter. If we had to name one favorite characteristic, it would be that there are only 2 other guest parties (at most) staying there with you, so it feels very calm and private.

Absolutely beautiful grounds, and you don't even have to leave them to see sunset! Great lounge chairs to catch some rays, either on the beach or right there on property! Having Myrtle living on site was a comfort, knowing if you needed anything, she was right there. Very sweet woman who made us feel at home. The cottage itself was fully stocked and just perfect for the 2 of us!

A Little Slice of Paradise

Our stay with Myrtle at Sandy Shores was fantastic! We stayed in the Patio Cottage and had everything we needed in a cozy cabin-like atmosphere. We enjoyed the beautiful lush gardens and the spectacular sunsets. We met several other guests while there, who were all repeat guests, that shared their love for Sandy Shores with us - and we now understand why. Staying here is like a warm hug. Wonderful Getaway

Sandy Shores was a perfect place to soak up the sun and enjoy a balance of peace and quiet and activities. The Patio Cottage was clean and comfortable with all the amenities we needed. A king size bed, cable tv, internet, kitchen, bath, grill, patio and right next to the beach. Good restaurants within walking distance. Our hostess, Myrtle responded to emails and texts and really made us feel welcome. Our area did not feel overly commercial and had a nice neighborhood feel. It was great and we would do it again!

Absolute Gem

There are not enough words to describe how amazing Myrtle and her homes are. The place was beautiful, very clean, and an amazing location. You really had everything you needed within walking distance. Myrtle was incredibly friendly, very thorough in her tour, and easy to communicate with. I wish we had more time to sit and chat with her. We came for a wedding and were quite busy most days, but that is the one thing I regret, not getting more time to chat with Myrtle. She is absolutely amazing! We had #2, the Patio, and it was perfect for the 2 of us. It had a very comfy king bed and 2 pull out sofas. There was more than enough built-in storage and closet spaces to accommodate all your luggage. The kitchen was stocked with everything you could possibly need to cook, open a bottle of wine, and clean up after yourself. Myrtle provided wifi passwords and cable, or you could log into your apps. Even though we came in after 2 very powerful hurricanes, you couldn't tell. She had the place in tip-top shape like nothing happened. Some plants were damaged, but she had new ones placed around, and you could tell she takes great pride in her units and the garden. It was stunning! I can't wait to see it next summer! You have a short paved path, and then you're on the sand of Indian Rocks Beach. What more can I say. You can leave your unit barefooted, walk a few feet, and have your toes in the sand. You couldn’t ask for a better place. Stunning location!

Sandy Shores has been in my late husband, Ned's, family for over 70 years. Ned's Grandmother bought it in 1946 and his father built the first two-story building in 1952 and the Gulf Cottage followed in 1972.
I live onsite so I am available during your stay. I've also worked for 12 years in a local bank. One of the things my guests repeatedly tell me, is that they can see my love for Sandy Shores in the cleanliness and beauty of the property. I take pride in knowing my attention to detail ensures my guests have the most comfortable stay. And, for my German visitors, I enjoy speaking German to help you feel at home.

We started to rent out our cottages in 2005 after a total beautification and enjoying ever since every minute of sharing this lovely property with all our guests.

What makes this property unique

Rest in our secluded gardens, enjoy the shade under our beautiful Australian Pine Trees and watch the fantastic sunsets of the Gulf of Mexico . You can't get any closer to the dunes and beach!
The PATIO Cottage has a lovely patio area and situated in the middle of my property surrounded by palm and flower gardens.
