House was perfect! Loved the location in woods and cozy/well-appointed. Still easy to get to the ocean or take walk in the woods. Just wished the hot tub had been heated before arriving—took a little over a day to get to temp. Sauna was amazing

Beautiful views lovely home
This was the best of both aspects of Sea Ranch. Close enough to the beach to go every day for a walk on the beach. But also up in the wooded area for fantastic woodland views, and gorgeous woodland hiking trails.
Everything was lovely and we would stay here again.
The kitchen wasn’t quite as equipped as I assumed but we managed.

We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your visit! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your valuable feedback with us. We passed your comments along to our local manager to review and we appreciate guests’ preferences as a means to continually improve. We look forward to hosting your next stay!
We had a delightful, relaxing and absolutely beautiful stay here. The accommodations were perfect. My only (minor) complaint was that the office was nearly 10 miles beyond the property. We were supposed to go there for a parking pass before entering the house. Since we arrived as the sun was setting (totally gorgeous) we postponed that until the following morning. Not a problem. Overall we had a fabulous time. Loved the forest view!

The interior is great. The back deck though is rotting away. It didn't appear to have been swept in a very long time. Maybe just using a blower? but that leaves a lot of dirt etc in crevices. Lots of little things inside didn't work well. The kitchen faucet won't stay on. No sponge in our laundry/dish box, most of the pans I wouldn't use. Then having to drive into town for our welcome pack. Why couldn't that be at the house? The parking passes are dated. And, the pillows were not comfortable. The bed though was very comfortable.

The house was perfect for us. The only issue was the hot tub didn’t work for the first two days we were there. There was no communication except for waited out. Was told someone’s gonna come check it with no response when I check back in. I shouldn’t have to Flip the breaker and make 10 call/text messages trying to get it fixed.

Fantastic stay
We stayed for two evenings as a getaway from SF. Longwell House was really perfect for a weekend where we were totally rained in.
The house is totally secluded with fantastic forest views from every window. Tons of porches to enjoy the view from (though we didn’t get to enjoy too much cause of the rain). The layout and architecture of the house is really great and very “Sea Ranch-ish). The hot tub was warm all weekend and the wood sauna was perfect and quick to warm up. Importantly, the house was meticulously cleaned, which is probably the most crucial aspect to a vacation rental to us.
Overall a great stay and will return! Just make sure to bring your own firewood if you want to use the wood burning fireplace - otherwise you’re going to need to pick it up in Gualala.
This would be a five-star review in all aspects except for a few maintenance issues that need attention:
1. Some light bulbs need to be replaced: one in the entry hall, one at ceiling level in the living room area, and one under-cabinet light in the kitchen.
2. The guest bath sink drain plug is inoperable.
3. The guest bathroom toilet paper dispenser falls apart when used.
With these maintenance issues addressed, we’d highly recommend this home for a quiet retreat for a couple.

Vacasa fail
The stove was broken/dangerous and we were unable to cook all the food we brought. Communication with Vacasa was very difficult, and they were very resistant to doing any repairs. Beware if you are renting through Vacasa. They are cutting corners and not maintaining their properties!

Redwood sanctuary
We had a great stay here . Everything was perfect including hot tub and sauna . Good entertainment system too. Some more warm blankets could be good since it got cold a little at night . Also , fireplace was great the first night , but our second night it seemed like the smoke was not properly going up chimney and instead was coming out into the room , the smoke alarms went off a few times . Also noticed that smoke was leaking from chimney where the screws are located . We eventually gave up on the fire because of smoke and smoke alarms. Might need to have the fireplace/chimney checked out . House smelled like smoke when we arrived too so I don’t think we were the first ones to experience this . Despite that , we still loved the place and would recommend it .

Thank you for your thoughtful feedback, Sonam! We are happy to read that you had a great stay. Our apologies for any issues experienced with the fireplace. During your stay we had very high winds and if the vents are not open the wind will blow smoke back in the home. We are scheduling a contractor out to sweep the roof and will also have him look at chimney to avoid any further concerns. We look forward to hosting you again!
The place is absolutely beautiful. But there are serious issues with Vacasa management.
We got there and there was no heat and no hot water. There was only one extra blanket. They don't provide firewood or kindling for the fire place either.
Turns out they forgot to fill the propane tank. It took a day to get this taken care of and multiple phone calls and emails. The local person was nice and responsive, but this is a pretty bad oversight from the property management.
It rained for most of the time and 2 skylights leaked. We had 3 pots in the living room which created a symphony of continuous drops.
There were also just 2 cook tops working.
This was disappointing, because the place is nice, but all these issues certainly soured the stay.

A Charming Getaway with Room for Improvement
Our stay at the Longwell House offered a picturesque retreat amidst the captivating forest surroundings. The charm of Sea Ranch itself is undeniable. However, the home had a few drawbacks that affected our experience.
A leaky skylight caused a sizable puddle in the living room during heavy rain and despite our attempts to contact Vacasa after hours (5:15pm on a Tuesday), we were unable to reach anyone nor leave a voicemail. The absence of batteries in provided flashlights or lanterns made navigating the property after dark a challenge. Additionally, a couple of burnt out lights (most notably in the outdoor sauna), two of four not-working burners on the stovetop, and a broken coffee grinder affected our ability to carry out regular tasks comfortably.
While the location was idyllic, these maintenance issues detracted from the overall enjoyment. Simple fixes, like ensuring flashlights have batteries and promptly addressing leaks, could elevate this rental to match the charm of Sea Ranch. With some attention to detail, it has the potential to be an exceptional getaway.

Hello Susan, we highly appreciate that you brought us this feedback. We apologize for the many inconveniences during your stay. This has been brought up to the local operations manager so steps can be taken to make necessary fixes and improvements.
We went to get away from everything and play games. It was rainy misty, which is lovely from the warmth inside looking out the windows. There are hiking trails nearby. After hiking in the misty cold, the hot tub and sauna hit the spot. The kitchen is well stocked.

Peaceful forest home`
Loved being surrounded by beautiful redwoods. Also really liked being at the top of the ridge, which gets more sunlight than the homes that are down in ravines. The hot tub controls are difficult to access unless you're already in the tub. I found the hot tub lid very heavy to lift by myself (I am a small woman).

Great retreat amongst the trees
The house was in great shape. The views out into the redwoods were magical. This is a classic Sea Ranch home - well designed with overlapping spaces, perches, and peek-a-boos. The hot tub was perfectly tucked away. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
Every room is designed to maximize views of the redwood forest, and the feeling of being surrounded by their beauty. It's easy to get from this nearly silent immersion in the woods to the beautiful walks along the Sea Ranch coast, and I'm glad that we stayed here so were able to enjoy the best of both environments.

Beautiful place in the woods
Nice setting, clean house with hot tub and sauna. Also enjoyed the general Sea Ranch amenities like the pools and the Lodge
Our stay was exactly what we needed: A clean, serene getaway from the city. The house was clean with plenty of activities to do inside. It was close to the beach and downtown Gualala which was super convenient. The hot tub was luxuriously large and it really felt like you were in a treehouse.
We called Vacasa because we needed more propane for the grill and they took care of everything quickly which was awesome!
I absolutely recommend staying here and can't wait to go again!

Beautiful property
The setting is magical, surrounded by trees and lush greenery. The kitchen is well stocked and the beds are comfortable. The only downfall is not having a couch in the living room to cuddle up to the fire or read. The chairs in the living room were very uncomfortable.
