About this property
Dog-friendly, waterfront home on St. George River with shore access, great views
Driftwood is one of those places - both in form and function - that feels distinctly Maine. Maybe it's the pristine waterfront location at the end of a winding, private road just a mile or two from Port Clyde. Or perhaps it's the way the house itself feels, thanks to an abundance of windows, clean lines, and a true sense of peace and quiet. Whatever it is, Driftwood is everything a stay in Maine should be.
A full deck (new in 2024 with new deck furniture as well) is a great place to overlook the vast, saltwater St. George River makes this space as comfortable for two people as it is for six. The first floor is more or less an open-concept space, with a comfortable living room that flows easily into the dining area with seating for six. Access to the front deck is right here as well, where you'll find plenty of outdoor seating, a grill, and just about the nicest views you could ever want at any time of day. The galley-style kitchen includes a full-size gas stove and a dishwasher, and it's well-equipped for meal preparation.
The primary bedroom is also on this floor, tucked away at the back of the house in a sunny, spacious spot. Upstairs, find two more bedrooms, both of which are bright and sunny with beds close to the windows, so you can hear the water lap on the shore as you fall asleep.
The shore is easily accessible by a well-worn path - the owners of Driftwood report this area is just right for kayaking and paddleboarding. The villages of Port Clyde and Tenants Harbor are both within a few minutes' drive, with Sandy Drift Inn Beach minutes away as well.

We loved our stay! The home was beautiful, comfortable and lovely. Gorgeous views, well maintained home and we would love to return. Our only issues were that the deadbolt was jammed, and we couldn't enter the home via the front door - we had to use the door on the deck. We also encourage the owners to add better directions - the home is not well marked and the routing via GPS does not take you all the way to the address.

Gorgeous View
Charming, comfortable home with awesome water views in a quiet location. Thoroughly enjoyed our quick stay!
This home's best feature is the private back porch where you can view the most spectacular sunsets. The kitchen is also very well-stocked with just about every cooking and baking item you will need. The bedrooms were comfortable although one of twin beds need replacing. The water table was low so we had to space out our showers especially if we were doing a load of laundry.
Very nice place just to kick back and relax away from hustle and bustle. Watching lobster boats working out front of house was nice as well.

We hope to be notified of anything less than satisfactory during your stay, as we strive to provide each and every guest with the very best vacation experience. We look forward to hosting you for a true 5-star stay in the future!
We had a great time during our time at Tenants Harbor. The house has amazing water views and plenty of space for a lovely stay. The house is very dog friendly with a basket of toys and water bowls on the back deck (also a nice big yard). Also very conveniently located to Marshall Point Lighthouse which is a must visit!!

A Quiet Place
Great house, well equipped and amazing view! Our stay was in Nov so it was very quiet and nearby restaurants were closed for the season. This suited us fine as we brought all our food and made some great meals to share with our adult kids
This place is a gem. Right on the water, secluded, and has everything you need. I love to cook and the kitchen had everything we needed! Cozy, clean, plenty of room and you can tell the owners live their place and the community, great suggestions for where to eat and what to do. The only negative was that we couldn’t get our rented kayak in the water - couldn’t find a dock/put in and the rockers were slippery/a lot of seaweed. Super minor problem though - this place was AMAZING

A Wonderful Time Was Had By All
The home was as pictured, clean and well appointed. We saw harbor porpoises, eagles, loons, a seal and lots of lobster boats from the deck. It is the last house on a private drive, so it is incredibly quiet.
The house is well situated at the end of a long drive through the woods. It's got a great deck, great view and everything one could need in the kitchen. The fireplace is a nice bonus. It's a compact footprint which worked well for 4 adults. Port Clyde and Thomaston are both great towns nearby. My only request would be for more towels to be left out for guests.

Reviewer Comments:
We really enjoyed the house and riverfront, it was quiet and peaceful, we enjoyed swimming and using our kayaks from the shore and walking the loop road and trail. It is very convenient to Tenants Harbor and Port Clyde. We had a great time!
We booked a last minute weekend looking for a peaceful waterfront home and this fit the bill!
The location is fairly remote and you can only see one neighbor through the trees. The information booklet was very thorough with both how-to’s and suggestions. Got water worked fine, no issues with kitchen, heating, etc. a wonder gray!

Great Cottage (even in the rain)!
We had terrible weather all week, but even when we were stuck inside the cottage kept us entertained. There's a record player and decent vinyl collection, books of local interest, and games. Even toys for the dog! The long dirt road is great for morning runs/walks (bring bug spray, lots of mosquitos in the woods). The deck overlooks the water, and is a great place for a morning coffee or evening glass of wine (surprisingly no mosquitos on the deck!). Port Clyde is very close with good coffee, ice cream, general store and really good waterfront seafood restaurant.

House needs attention
Beautiful view and quiet area. No safe water access, very rocky. There is even a note not to use the kayaks due to the dangerous shoreline and liability. The house was not clean, dog hair, dust, bugs, rotting wood, and mold pervasive throughout. The property manager offered assistance, but experts are needed to eliminate the mold and repair. Had to wash the curtains in the bath because of mold… shower curtain was put on with plastic on outside, so more mold… I rarely give poor ratings but feel people should be aware of this unhealthy environment.

Driftwood is a lovely spot for those seeking quiet, selection and incredible views. The deck is absolutely perfect - for watching boats sail by, picking up lobster traps, and birds of every kind fly in front of you. We loved the fact the tide made little difference, having stayed in places that turned into mud flats twice a day. Not here. The home is lovely - simple, clean and comfortable. Kitchen comes with every tool you will ever need, but there is also a grill for those that don't want to cook inside. Highly recommend Driftwood and Summermaine.

Very nice BUT . . .
Nice home in a beautiful location, but . . . Do the owners know how the property managers are caring for it? This is a nice home with a lovely view of the bay. It was nicely decorated with lots of amenities like books about the area, a record player, binoculars, kitchen supplies (Actually so many that it was hard to find things in haphazard drawers and pantry.) . . . But the house was only surface clean. If you looked in the corners or along the baseboards there was dirt, mildew, cobwebs and dead insects. One upstairs bedroom smelled of mildew and moth balls. We had to crack the windows all the time and buy a deodorizer. There were layers of dust and cobwebs on windows, the mantle, lights, picture frames, . . . Do the owners (or management service) know this is how the cleaning service is doing their job? When we arrived there was water in front of the washing machine. Boards had rotted on the deck. One was replaced while we were there with a short board that was a tripping hazard. Another was left with nails protruding out as another hazard. When we did call the management service, they acted like they cared, but never really took care of our requests. We honestly believe that the owners are proud of their home and should be. The problem is that they are either not there or do not see how it is being managed and cared for. This review is for the owners because they have a lovely spot, but a home that is gradually falling into disrepair due to lack of care.
