Lakefront lodge on Pemaquid Pond with dock, kayaks, canoe, SUP & firepits
A true Midcoast Maine retreat with decades of family history, this lakefront log cabin is a place to find peace in nature on the shores of Pemaquid Pond. With 1,260 feet of shore frontage, you'll spend your days listening to the call of the loons and fishing, swimming, and boating from your private dock.
This private, family-owned cabin is located on 37 acres on the tranquil eastern shore of Pemaquid Pond. A ramp leads you out to the 16-foot-by-20-foot dock, seasonally available from May to October (with space to moor a 24-foot pontoon in 6-8 feet of water). A number of watercraft and lake essentials are even provided for you, including two kayaks, a Gheenoe wide canoe, a 12-foot aluminum boat with oars, a stand-up paddleboard, and fishing poles.
When you're not out exploring Pemaquid Point (17 miles), visiting the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens (22 miles), or taking a whale-watch excursion from Boothbay Harbor (22 miles), a wealth of fun and games awaits you at the house. Play horseshoes and cornhole, barbecue and dine on the expansive back deck overlooking the lake, and roast marshmallows around the wood firepit.
Inside, you'll find all the classic elements of cabin living, including log walls, lofty ceilings, and large windows that frame spectacular nightly sunsets. Enjoy an assortment of board games and books, multiple smart TVs that you can sign into using your own streaming accounts, and such family-friendly touches as a high chair, baby gate, and Pack-N-Play. Other conveniences include an automatic backup generator, window air conditioning, and complimentary WiFi.

Perfect lake retreat!
We come every year for the Damariscotta Pumpkin Festival. This was our favorite place yet, and it had anything you’d ever imagine needing.

Amazing Property
Loved this house - totally private at the end of a long driveway. Amazing home, deck and private dock onto a lovely lake. Rooms were comfortable and had zircon. Just an epic vacation home.
This is an incredible rental in a great location. It is on a very isolated property on a large, beautiful lake. The house is beautiful, in great shape and very well equipped. We enjoyed time kayaking on the lake, playing cornhole and hose shoes and sitting by the gas and wood fire pits. Additionally, the location is fantastic. It has easy access to towns and grocery store (10 min) and some amazing hikes and coastal adventures. Would be very happy to stay again.
Gorgeous waterfront property with sunset views on Pemaquid Pond. Outstanding selection of outdoor equipment, fire pits, outdoor furniture and firewood. Interior was also very well equipped. We rented the house for family we could not accommodate ourselves at our nearby home in Bremen. The house is well depicted on the site.

The perfect, private lakehouse
This house sits right on the lake on a private estate, surrounded by acres of forest, where you don't see another house for miles. The house is spacious and equipped with everything you need to enjoy your time - boats, life jackets, etc. The dock was the highlight of the trip - our kids spend hours jumping off the dock and climbing back up every day, while we enjoyed reading on the deck overlooking nature and lake. The kids also enjoyed the loft "room" with all the beds. I was a bit worried about air conditioning since we visited during a heatwave, but the window units kept us all cool and comfortable. Highly recommend this private gem of a lake house.

watch out for Vacasa - Big problems
We rented this house via Vacasa. Sadly the septic system was frozen therefore NO bathrooms, showers, cooking or anything that used water for 2 nights and 2 mornings of our 3 day stay. The refund amount was tiny. Very unfair and disappointing.

Could be a five-star experiece, but several preventable issues
The Bayberry Lake House is a beautiful property in a lovely location with scenic views, and comfortable furnishings. We especially enjoyed the cozy fireplace and the potential for outdoor relaxation on the balcony and around the fire table and fire pit beside the lake.
However, several maintenance and housekeeping issues significantly impacted our stay. Upon arrival, we found dirty dishes, silverware, pots and pans in the cabinets with limited dishwashing supplies. The outdoor furniture that was covered in dirt and bird droppings. Upon arrival the kitchen outlets were non-functional for most of a day due to a tripped breaker in a locked basement. The smoke alarm in the primary bedroom began emitting a loud alarm at 1 a.m. due to a dead battery. The firewood provided was too wet to use safely, requiring us to purchase dry wood. Additionally, the advertised Netflix and screen mirroring features were not available.
With better attention to cleaning, stocking, and maintenance, this property could be a five-star experience. We hope to see these issues addressed for future guests.

Response from VrboOwner on 24 July 2025
We appreciate your feedback following your stay, Kenneth. We are glad you enjoyed the home, comfortable furniture, and great views. We do apologize for the cleaning and maintenance issues encountered that impacted your experience. Unfortunately, we were only made aware of the outlet issue during your stay, which was promptly resolved by our team. We would have been happy to send our team back to reclean any missed areas and replace the smoke alarm. Netflix and other streaming services are available, but guests do need to use their own accounts to log in. There is firewood that is stocked inside the Rental; however, this is something that is not normally offered. Guests are more than welcome to purchase their own and bring it with them to the rental. We value your insights as they help us improve, and we hope you'll consider staying with us again for a better stay in the future!
