Amazing stay!

The house was very cute and in an amazing location, walkable to town and close to everything Acadia can offer. It was also super clean and pet friendly. We will be back!

Good Location

The location is great. On a quiet side street, but walkable (.5 mi) to town center. It also has a washer and dryer, which is nice. Otherwise, for the money your paying it’s a bit basic - pretty sure it’s a college rental in the off season, and that’s what it looks like.

The cottage was perfect for my family (2 adults and a 7-year-old). We loved being just enough on the edge of town that it wasn`t crowded, but still near enough that we could walk everywhere.

Cozy cottage

Norris cottage was perfect for our needs. Comfortable bed and living room and the porch was great for morning coffee and evening drinks with a nice view of the wooded park across the street. Angel, from Vacasa, was very nice and helpful! Would stay here again.

I have been to Bar Harbor many times but this was my first stay at 12 Norris Ave. It was a great place to stay! Walking distance to downtown but away from the hustle and bustle. The cottage was very clean and welcoming, with a nice backyard to sit out in. It felt like home for the week.

Good place to stay, 10 minute walk from downtown Bar Harbor and a minutes drive/ walk to Acadia. Good for a family but note that the staircase is very steep if you have young children. Comfortable accommodations, however mattress in master bedroom needs to be replaced.

A great house in a fantastic location - easy walk to town AND on a quiet shady side street. Very clean upon arrival with a well equipped kitchen. Our family of four took advantage of the the shaded porch for morning and afternoon relaxation, BBQ’d several nights on the gas grill and used the on demand” tv features to watch movies at the end of a few hot days of Acadia Park activity. Highly recommend this house and Bar Harbor/Acadia!

High hopes

Online it seemed to be a good place for 3 to stay but there is only 1 ac unit upstairs and it gets pretty hot. The bathroom looked like it had black mold around the toilet. There were leftover things from someone else in one of the bedrooms. The beds were very uncomfortable as well.

We are disheartened to read that you experienced issues that kept you from fully enjoying your stay. Our local manager assured us that there is only one AC unit upstairs, as it is not legal to put AC units in egress windows, but there are two HVAC units downstairs. We regret any inconvenience this may have caused. The toilet was checked and no black mold was found and housekeeping was addressed about any items left behind by prior guests. While we acknowledge that beds will not suit everyone's specific preferences, we regret that ours was not comfortable for you and your comments were shared with the homeowner. We hope you will allow us the chance to provide you with a truly exceptional vacation experience in the future.

This was our family`s first visit to Bar Harbor. We loved our time there! This cottage was the perfect place to relax after a long adventure filled day. Great location, easy access to downtown Bar Harbor and Acadia park entrances. Walking distance to a couple park trails too. Another reviewer mentioned bringing a gate for the stairs - I am very glad we did this as the stairs are pretty steep. Our 5 year old had no issues on the stairs, but the 1.5 year old definitely needed to be kept off them. Our favorite walking destination each evening was Mt Desert Island Ice Cream!!

Absolutely loved our stay at Norris cottage. A home away from homes and we even got to take our dog. The kitchen is really well equipped. Lots of cleans fresh linen and towels, the location is fabulous. Close enough to Bar Harbour to walk in but fare enough away to escape the crowds. We had kids and not only is Norris cottage on a quiet street but it’s literally a stones through from a fenced in wading pool. Our kids loved it. Also really close to a playground. Excellent bargaining tools with small people. We loved our time here.

Really cute place in a fantastic location close to town! We could and did walk every time we went into town, whether it was to get ice cream, get dinner and drinks, or do some shopping. One surprise we had was in the room with the two twin beds - it was small and set up so that the door couldn`t be opened or closed without moving one of the beds, which would obviously disturb whoever was sleeping there. In addition, they had some amenities for cleaning (e.g., dish and laundry detergent) but were missing some other amenities that would have been nice to have, like extra toilet paper and more cooking basics (they only provided salt and pepper). But overall we still really enjoyed our stay! The owners were very responsive and reasonable!

Great location!

The location is fantastic. It was an easy 1/2 mile walk to the center of town, making it really convenient to hop on the Island Explorer or go to dinner in town. It was a good amount of space, with a reasonably sized living room for the 4 of us and it was great to also have a full-size kitchen. There were apparent signs of wear and tear on the house that slightly detracted from the atmosphere. This included a tear in the wall in the kitchen and the need for a fresh coat of paint throughout (clear areas where they tried to paint over patches but it doesn't look right). The larger concern though was for a slight moldy smell in the house and possible mold on the ceiling in the bathroom. These are all addressable concerns though and, again, amazing location!

Disappointed

Home was very shabby and sorely needed to be painted. Grass was not cut. Smelled musty. Window in large bedroom was missing a shade allowing the street light to shine in. I just had the entire interior of my home painted...walls, high ceilings, trim, doors. My home is larger than this rental and only cost me $3000 (6 rooms). The painter did an excellent job. I very much doubt I will go through Verbo again.

Not what the pictures suggest

We stayed at Norris Cottage in august 2022. It is an old Maine house that hasn’t aged well. The good - 2 people can stay well. The air conditioning worked well on the ground floor and was adequate though noisy in the main bedroom where it is a window unit. The Wi-Fi was fine. It had a dishwasher, washer, dryer though noisy also worked well. It is close to town and in a safe location. The bad- the furniture is all in bad condition including the bumpy, noisy mattress. You can’t comfortably stay in the 2nd room unless it is cool with low humidity outside. This room and the bathroom are extremely musty and stale smelling. The floor in the kitchen is deteriorating and ripping apart. There was a pile of deep dust under both beds. In our opinion, the pictures were nowhere near the reality. Think hunting cabin
