Jenner Oceanview Sonoma Coast Retreat near Fort Ross State Park
Summary:
Pacific sunsets paint the sky from your deck perched above the Sonoma Coast. This oceanview retreat sleeps 4 with panoramic water views from every window. Sip morning coffee on the wraparound deck as fog lifts to reveal the coastline stretching endlessly north and south. Just 1 mile from Coast Kitchen's farm-to-table dining and steps from Canyon Trailhead's coastal hikes. The sound of waves carries on the breeze — your soundtrack for an unforgettable escape where forest meets sea.
The Space:
Spend mornings on the bluff as fog burns off the Pacific, afternoons exploring the Sonoma Coast's tide pools and trails, and evenings around the dining table with fresh crab from the harbor.
A wood-burning stove on a tiled platform anchors the main room, the grey sectional angled for fireside evenings while deer and moose mounts add cabin character overhead. Track lighting traces the soaring beamed ceilings. The kitchen pairs rich reddish-brown wood cabinetry with light counters and an earthy mosaic tile backsplash; a gas range and full-size fridge handle the cooking, and a compact wood-sided island with a tile top adds prep space. The dining area gathers the group beneath windows framing forest light.
OUTDOOR LIVING
The wraparound wooden deck becomes your outdoor living room, furnished with lounge chairs and a round picnic table for alfresco meals with ocean views filtering through the treetops. A separate ground-level patio features an outdoor stone fireplace with river rock detailing, surrounded by metal patio furniture — an ideal gathering spot as evening settles in. The BBQ area invites cookouts as filtered sunlight streams through towering trees, and every outdoor space is enveloped by forest for ultimate privacy.
SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS
The master bedroom wraps you in warm terracotta tones with a king bed dressed in crisp blue and white linens and a ceiling fan for comfort on warmer days. The second bedroom offers a queen bed with a patchwork quilt against soothing beige walls. Both rooms feature hardwood floors, ceiling fans, and windows overlooking the surrounding forest. Altogether, the home comfortably sleeps 4.

Guest Access:
Step out to a wraparound deck and a stone fireplace area as old-growth forest pulls right up to the windows on this Jenner ridge. The whole home is yours, with a BBQ, outdoor dining, and ocean views over the trees. Grab the key from the lockbox; up to three cars fit comfortably in the driveway.
The Neighborhood:
Your coastal retreat sits just 0.5 miles from Canyon Trailhead, gateway to miles of bluff-top hiking with sweeping Pacific views. When hunger strikes, Coast Kitchen at Timber Cove Resort (1.0 mile) serves farm-to-table cuisine with floor-to-ceiling ocean views — perfect for a special dinner. Ocean Cove Lodge and its Bar & Grill (1.1-1.2 miles) offer more casual dining with stellar sunset views. This stretch of Highway 1 puts you at the doorstep of the Sonoma Coast's greatest hits. Stillwater Cove Regional Park (0.4 miles) provides easy beach access and the scenic Bluff Trail. History buffs will love Fort Ross State Historic Park (3.0 miles), where a reconstructed Russian settlement tells stories of 19th-century fur traders. The park's trails lead to secluded coves and panoramic viewpoints. Wine enthusiasts can explore the extreme coastal terroir at Fort Ross Vineyard (5.6 miles), where Pinot Noir grows closer to the Pacific than almost anywhere else in California.
Getting Around:
Jenner is about 95 minutes from San Francisco via 101 and Highway 1 — a breathtaking coastal drive where the Russian River meets the sea. Your driveway accommodates up to three vehicles comfortably. Fort Ross Store (1.9 miles south on Highway 1) is your nearest spot for basic groceries and coffee, though you'll want to stock up before arriving. A car makes exploring the Sonoma Coast effortless — it unfolds for miles in either direction. Cell service is light along the coast, so downloading offline maps before you arrive is a good idea.
Other Things to Note:
The home stays naturally cool thanks to the coastal climate and shading from surrounding redwoods — you'll find the ocean breeze and forest canopy provide perfect natural temperature control. The primary renter must be 21 or older. There's a strict no-burn policy for fire safety in this forested setting. WiFi is available for staying connected, though many guests find the spotty cell service along the coast a welcome excuse to unplug. The wood-burning stove creates magical ambiance on foggy evenings — firewood is typically available locally. Pro tip: Ocean Cove Lodge's bar makes excellent Bloody Marys for lazy mornings, and booking dinner at Coast Kitchen in advance is highly recommended, especially on weekends. Timber Cove Beach is less than 2 miles south for tide pooling adventures. Remember this coastline has powerful waves and cold water — it's stunning to watch but not safe for swimming.

Wish we stayed longer
We stayed for a wedding 3 minutes down the road. With a family renting the Timber Haven was a great value. The property and deck were amazing. Would love to stay here again.
We love this cabin. The location is beautiful and quiet, close to beaches and hikes. The kitchen is a pleasure to cook in. We needed more extra blankets, but otherwise it was a lovely stay.

Beautiful home
This house was really nice, with a great view. I love that it is close to so many great beaches and hiking spots. It's remote enough to feel like you've really gotten away, but also a reasonable drive for food, groceries, etc.

Family Fun
The home was clean, lots of room, good location for remote beaches, hikes, and solitude. Neighbors were friendly. We enjoyed the fire pit, the big patio and exploring the property, I hope to stay again.
We enjoyed our stay here. Not the best view of ocean, and no outdoor fires allowed right now, but it was a secluded lovely home. Bring slippers for their no shoes policy and earplugs for the squeaky master bed.
