About this property

Forestville Dog-Friendly Forest Cabin with Hot Tub

Summary:

Slip into the hot tub as redwoods sway overhead and the forest settles into evening quiet. This dog-friendly hideaway brings your pup along for riverside adventures — the Russian River flows just 0.2 miles away. Cozy up with 4 in this colorful cabin after wine tasting at Porter Creek (2.1 mi) or paddling from Burke's Canoe Trips. Your forest retreat sits minutes from Forestville's tasting rooms yet feels worlds away in the trees.

The Space:

Spend mornings on the deck as mist lifts off the Russian River, afternoons floating the river or visiting Korbel and Joseph Jewell tasting rooms, and evenings around the firepit with the day's bottles.

A rust-orange leather sofa pulls in beside the electric fireplace as large windows frame the surrounding forest. A wall-mounted TV is ready for movie nights, and a patterned area rug anchors the room. The galley pairs natural wood and white cabinets with dark counters and a turquoise vintage-style fridge — a small footprint that punches above its weight. The dining nook sets four on built-in bench seating beneath a cheerful red gingham cloth.

OUTDOOR LIVING

Multi-level decks transform the sloped forest site into outdoor rooms. Gather around the fire table in Adirondack chairs on the upper deck, then descend to the lower level where a white clawfoot hot tub waits beneath the tree canopy. A gas grill stands ready, and mature trees provide complete privacy.

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS

The main bedroom features a king bed in classic plaid beneath exposed beams. A basement sleeping area offers a queen bed with vintage furnishings. Sleeps four.

PROPERTY AMENITIES

-- Private clawfoot hot tub

-- Central AC

-- Full kitchen and gas grill

-- Electric fireplace

-- Dog-friendly (max 2 dogs)

-- Parking for 2 vehicles

Guest Access:

Soak in the clawfoot tub on the lower deck for a forest bathe, then drift up to the private hot tub above — the white scalloped paneling inside reads cottage-meets-cabin. You've got the whole cabin, dogs welcome, with multi-level decks carved into the sloped lot. Punch in the keypad code on arrival; park up at the road at the top of the stairs down to the cabin.

The Neighborhood:

Your cabin sits in a quiet forest pocket of Forestville, where the Russian River flows just 0.2 miles away at Forestville River Access. Walk your pup to Mother's Beach (0.2 mi) for a riverside picnic, or drive 5 minutes to Steelhead Beach Regional Park (1.7 mi) for swimming and kayaking. Wine tasting awaits at Porter Creek Vineyards (2.1 mi), Gary Farrell (1.7 mi), and Moshin Vineyards (1.8 mi) — all within a 10-minute drive through vineyard-lined roads. For provisions, Sam's Market sits just 0.3 miles away. Dine at the Russian River Pub (0.9 mi) for casual fare or drive to Thomas George Estates (2.7 mi) for wine and food pairings. The West County Regional Trail entrance (3.2 mi) offers 5.5 miles of paved paths through farms and vineyards. Burke's Canoe Trips launches their famous 10-mile river floats right from Forestville. This is where wine country meets river recreation — you're minutes from acclaimed tasting rooms yet surrounded by redwood forest tranquility.

Getting Around:

Forestville is about 80 minutes from San Francisco via 101 and River Road — a mellow drive through vineyards and rolling hills. Your two parking spaces are located on the road at the top of the stairs leading down to the cabin. A car makes the Russian River Valley easy to explore, from redwood trails to riverside wineries. Cell service gets patchy in the redwoods, so downloading offline maps before you arrive is worth it.

Other Things to Note:

The cabin stays naturally cool thanks to the surrounding tree canopy, though central AC is available for warmer days. Your pups will love exploring the multi-level decks and forest surroundings — just keep them leashed when venturing to the nearby river. The outdoor clawfoot hot tub on the lower deck is a magical experience, especially at dusk when the forest comes alive with evening sounds. Internet speeds of 283 Mbps down make remote work possible if you can resist the call of wine tasting and river adventures. The stairs down from road parking to the cabin can be steep — pack light or make multiple trips. The vintage turquoise appliance in the kitchen adds character to your cooking experience. For the full Forestville experience, pick up fresh sourdough from Nightingale Breads for morning toast. The primary renter must be 21 or older.

Nice little cottage, very private and quiet when we were there. Bbq & hot tub were great too. Everything worked and was just as described and pictured.

We love the Lazy Bear Cabin!

We just stayed here for the second year in a row and already can’t wait to come back. The cabin is tucked away in the Forestville hills, surrounded by beautiful greenery — it feels so serene and peaceful. It’s an easy walk down to the river, which makes the whole stay even better. This place really feels like a hidden gem.

Cutest cabin! Quiet, peaceful...just perfect! I enjoyed the high-end cookware and excellently appointed kitchen! We cooked all the Thanksgiving sides. Beds sre super-comfy and decor is very well done. I browsed through a few of the decorating books available...games, too! Hoping to come back! Just lovely!

Beautiful home

It was a gorgeous home that felt quite remote. The hot tub was very nice aswell as the cookware and amenities. My only complaint is the road there is very narrow barely fitting my Toyota tundra. If you miss the cabin and go past it there’s not many places to turn around and leads to an unpaved road otherwise it is absolutely something I would recommend just keep your eye out along that road for the lazy bear sign to not go too far.

Hello Connor, Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the beautiful home, the hot tub, and the amenities provided. We truly appreciate your kind recommendation! I’m sorry to hear about the challenges you faced with the narrow road and limited turnaround options. We understand how that could be frustrating, especially when driving a larger vehicle like your Toyota Tundra. Your helpful tip about watching for the Lazy Bear sign is great advice for future guests, and we’ll be sure to pass along your feedback to help improve the directions and guest experience. Thank you again for choosing our home, and we hope to welcome you back for another wonderful stay in the future!

Could have been cleaner

Location was great! No cell service but it is not needed because wifi is available. Upon arrival, there was the smell of dogs in the cabin. The blankets in the living room all smelled terrible.

Tree house cabin experience

Although it was raining during our stay, looking out the windows at the mossy trees was magical. The temp of the cabin when we checked in was a freezing 50 degrees! It would have been nice for it to be somewhat warmer. Having said that, the place warmed up super fast and stayed warm. We cooked almost all our meals at the cabin so we would have liked a few more pans. The place was very clean with an abundance of clean towels, pillows and blankets. The deck is lovely and would be great to spend time on during warm summer evenings. Overall we loved our stay and I would recommend this place for a short getaway. Great location with respect to wineries, Amstrong Woods, Jenner, Bodega Bay, etc

Forest Retreat

The house is in a wonderful location—you feel like you're in a forest. It's a small house, but there was plenty of room for the two of us. We enjoyed relaxing on the deck in the mornings with a book and some coffee. On the downside, the hot tub was a little dirty, and the cover was a real pain! We ended up only using it once. There is a nice little seating area with a gas fire pit, but we could not get it to light. The refrigerator ices up a bit, and there isn't any space to put dry groceries...very little counter space. Also, the parking is not great. The house is up a long, narrow road with a couple of small spaces to park.. Thankfully, the houses to the right and the left were vacant during our stay, which made maneuvering our cars possible. Plus, had there been neighbors, I don't think there would have been parking for us and them. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would probably rent it again, but we would only bring one car, the smaller one. We drove up separately because we were coming on different days.
