About this property

Secluded 3 Bedroom Lodge NE of Curran MI in 80 Acres of Forest - Sleeps 6

About this space:
Unplug and unwind at this cozy cabin nestled in 80 acres of peaceful woodland Northeast of Curran, Michigan. Perfect solitude for nature lovers or hunters, this rustic retreat offers a serene escape from modern distractions—there is Wi-Fi internet, but in keeping with the intended quietude, there is no big screen TV. You can enjoy the warmth of a wood-burning fireplace, the ambiance of a fire pit under the stars, walking the trails through the forest, or lounging outside on the front deck.

The space:
This is a cozy cabin equipped with three bedrooms and one bathroom. There is plenty of parking. Enjoy an open living room and dining area, and a full kitchen. Outside the front door is a very spacious deck where you can kick back and relax, sunning during the day and stargazing at night. More than 30 bird species have been heard in the Spring. Deer are common and Barred Owls and Coyotes are frequently heard at night.

Guest access:
Your visit begins as you drive north of Curran and turn east onto the Hubbard Lake Trail. Almost 4 miles east on this dirt road, you will arrive at a gate on the east side of the road where you will find a sign that reads “Atwood Lodge.” Unlock the gate and move 1/3 of a mile down a private, tree-lined drive that will lead you deeper into the tranquil forest. The further you go, the more the noise of the outside world fades away, replaced by the peaceful hum of nature. As the cabin comes into view, nestled among towering pines, you’ll instantly feel the privacy and serenity of this remote location. The secluded drive ensures a true escape, where you can leave behind the rush of daily life and fully immerse yourself in the beauty and quiet of the wilderness.

Other things to note:
Newly remodeled in 2024, Atwood Lodge has been in the family for four generations. An old cabin still sits on the property, built around 1930, however, it is currently unusable. Atwood Lodge was originally built in 1969 and has ever since been a gathering place for our family and friends.

The house is tucked away in the middle of the forest, surrounded by nature and away from everything—the perfect place to relax, unwind, and enjoy some peace and quiet. The cabin itself is beautiful, cozy, and incredibly well-equipped. It truly had everything we could possibly need, from pots and pans and glassware to towels and all the little essentials you would expect to have at home. We didn’t feel like anything was missing! We really enjoyed our stay and loved the peaceful, secluded setting. It was a perfect escape in the middle of nature, and we would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway!

This place is a very quiet and secluded place. We enjoyed hiking on the trails and watching the different wildlife and just being in nature. Lake Huron and the Ausable River were close enough to venture to when we wanted to enjoy the water. Overall it was a very relaxing place to unwind from the bustle of our everyday lives.
