About the host
Hosted by Michael
I’m a carpenter by trade, but over time I’ve become a jack of all trades through my passion for creating unique spaces and memorable guest experiences. Without a huge budget to bring these ideas to life, I chose to learn each aspect of residential renovation and design myself, keeping as much work in-house as possible.
Outside of work, I’m an ex-hockey player who loves the outdoors and just about anything adrenaline-filled. Whether it’s building, exploring, or chasing the next challenge, I enjoy pushing myself creatively and physically — this property is a reflection of that hands-on passion and personality.
Why they chose this property
I chose this neighborhood because it’s home to many of the places that shaped my childhood. I grew up split between life on a farm in a small town and South St. Louis. If I wasn’t working on the farm, I was usually around Grant’s Farm, running along Grant’s Trail, skating at the Affton Ice Rink, or spending time everywhere from the Saint Louis Science Center to the Saint Louis Zoo.
St. Louis will always be a special place to me, and my hope is that through your stay, you’ll discover your own connection and love for the city as well.
What makes this property unique
What makes this property unique is its blend of historic character and modern comfort. The home embraces its original Art Deco era charm while being thoughtfully brought back to life with updated touches and amenities. Throughout the renovation, I tried to preserve as much of the original craftsmanship as possible out of respect for the generations that built, lived in, and added onto the home over the years.
From the 8+ foot marble mosaic bar in the basement to the original marble trim details and the screened-in back room, the space was designed to feel both timeless and one of a kind — a place with character, history, and personality you don’t often find anymore.
