About this property

Mountain view cabin with expansive deck, balcony, & fireplace - dogs OK

Summary:

High Falls

The Space:

A wilderness retreat you won't forget is awaiting at High Falls! Enjoy stunning year-round views of Lake Glenville from the expansive back deck. This cliffside home is named for High Falls, a beautiful local waterfall accessible via a trail from the nearby Pines Recreation area. The Pines is a small public access park about a mile from the home with picnic tables, seasonal restrooms, and a public swimming beach right on Lake Glenville. It's perfect for an afternoon excursion! The lake view is constant, and lucky guests will also enjoy intermittent spillway waterfall views from the home. Called Onion Falls, this bonus waterfall forms when extra water is released over the dam spillway from Lake Glenville into the West Fork Tuckasegee River below. Inside, the perfect mix of rustic charm and modern convenience makes High Falls incredibly homey. The living room's leather seating and wood burning fireplace make the perfect combo for family movie nights, whereas the kitchen is well-equipped with a dishwasher, fridge, microwave, stove, and bright red tile countertops. Follow the grizzly bear friends into both of the bedrooms, cooled by central air during the warmer months. A private washer/dryer and collection of board games round out the cabin's interior amenities. Near your stay, get your boat on Lake Glenville and enjoy the North Carolina sunshine, hike around The Pines Recreation Area, or take an unforgettable trip around the Lake Glenview Scenic Waterfall Tours. Things to Know AWD/4WD/traction is recommended at all times, and required in winter.

Amazing Views, Remote but Close to Trails

My husband and I had a lot of fun driving in and out of the property. Remote location but close enough to restaurants and grocery stores. Amazing views of the dam and close to High Falls, which is breathtaking! Simple cabin, but you can tell a lot of love goes into keeping it nice for guests! We’d go again! Special thanks to the owners for sharing your home with us

Fairly secluded (can’t see neighbors in summer) and convenient for Cashiers. Efficient use of space (small kitchen) and attractive. Real fireplace. Back exterior and deck needs refinishing and paint. View of lake and spillway is great, but also includes view (and noise) of traffic.

Convenient for Cashiers-fairly secluded

Good cabin aesthetic and efficient use of space (fairly small) Love the real fireplace. Cannot see neighbors and have view of lake and spillway. Downside is that you can see and hear traffic as it crosses the bridge. Exterior of cabin in rear needs paint/stain and door for screened in porch.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughtful feedback, Scott. We're delighted to hear you enjoyed the cozy cabin aesthetic, the real fireplace, and the beautiful lake views with privacy from neighbors. At the same time, we truly understand how the traffic noise and the exterior maintenance needs could impact your experience, and we’re sorry for any inconvenience this caused during your stay. Your comments about the rear exterior and screened porch door are valuable, and we’ll be sure to pass them along to our local team to help improve the property for future guests. We appreciate your understanding and hope to have the opportunity to host you again for an even better stay.

Cozy cabin with an amazing view of the lake!

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights with our dog. The cabin is located at the end of a one-mile drive on a gravel road. The gate is located near the turn off from main road. The cabin has a large deck overlooking Lake Glenville with awesome sunsets. We spent most of our time on the deck! House was clean and stocked with the basic necessities. We would stay here again if in the area.

Amazing views!

We were so pleasantly surprised by the outstanding views overlooking beautiful Lake Glenville. We also got to experience an almost private waterfall as water was released from the lake during our stay. The remote location was easily accessible and convenient to go out and about, but yet felt so secluded....very nice! Host was easy to access to ask questions and responded quickly. If your looking for a place with room for the kids to run around, this is not it, but neither is any other mountain side location....If your looking for a quiet, private, relaxing and convenient location with outstanding views, this IS it.

The property is in a remote location with a fantastic view which we loved! The weeds were overgrown(knee high) in the middle of the driveway and around the stone walkways that led to the side yard and firepit which was undesireable. Communication from rental company was poor as they predominantly use AI chatbots and did not answer a call to the 1800 number provided via text when I had questions about the entry code. The front door sticks, making it difficult to enter the home. GPS directions are not accurate for road location to enter property. Detailed instructions to location would be helpful. King bed is located upstairs in loft which needs to be documented in description as some people cannot navigate stairs to master bedroom. There were many dead gnats in the loft shower upon arrival and dead wasps in the main living area that had to be cleaned as soon as we got there. There was trash in the outside receptacle upon our arrival that smelled horrible and trash was not collected on Tuesday or Friday as listed. We enjoyed the surrounding towns of Cashiers and Highlands! Such a beautiful area with wonderful hiking trails and sites for those who enjoy outdoor activities.

Seclusion

We don't take vacations often and, when we do, we typically look for places off the beaten path where we can get away for some peace and quiet. This place filled the bill perfectly. Out in the woods. At the end of a long dirt road. Peaceful. Perfect. This is the type of place you want to pack in your food, books, playing cards, etc. and just plan to stay put for the duration. It's a great getaway! The writeup says 4WD or AWD is needed to get in. We were there in late June in a 2WD Tundra and had no problems getting in or out - even after rain. I would not recommend a sedan - stick with truck or SUV. I can see how in winter you may want 4WD/AWD. I saw a review that complained about logistics of wifi and other things. We had absolutely no issues getting into the house, using wifi, etc. I do think the listing could show a few more details. Upstairs is a king bed plus a separate full bath with a walk-in shower. There is also a loft with a queen sleeper sofa. Downstairs is a queen bed plus a separate full bath with a tub/shower. Both bedrooms have a screened porch accessable directly from the bedrooms. A large deck gives you plenty of outdoor space. This isn't a large house - note the aquare footage. However, it was perfect for a couple and would work for or a small family or 2 couples .
