About this property
Limited Weeks ON SALE NOW! Dazzling Oceanfront Views at Your Own Tropical Oasis
Just steps from the water, Aloha Cottages are the quintessential oceanfront accommodations - comfy furniture, wide plank wood floors, warm salt air breezes, and ocean views to soothe the soul. The front porch of Sunrise Cottage is a favorite spot for watching the ocean's changing moods (and whales during winter months). A blend of east coast Cape Cod and early Hawaiian-style homes, our vintage cottages are spacious and light with simple furnishings - everything you will need for a relaxing, rejuvenating Kauai get-away.
PROPERTY DETAILS
THE INTERIOR: French doors and large picture windows in the living/dining room of the main house afford panoramic ocean views. Two of the three bedrooms have queen-size beds and the same unforgettable ocean view. The third bedroom, furnished with two twin beds (optional King upon request), is a quiet retreat. Sunrise Cottage comfortably accommodates up to six people.
NEED MORE ROOM?? Add Moonrise Guest Cottage for another bedroom and bath to accommodate up to 2 more people, a total of up to 8 in both cottages (4 bedrooms/3 baths). Please contact me if you would like to include the guest cottage in your reservation and I will add it to your invoice to cover the rental fees ($1400 per week), taxes and cleaning ($250). Use both cottages together for a group of up to 8 friends or a multi-generational family gathering.
Recently remodeled Moonrise Guest Cottage has the charm of a bamboo canopy bed and peek-a-boo ocean view. The open, white interior is accented with soothing ocean blues for a fun, tropical ambience. A spacious food prep area (with refrigerator/freezer, coffeemaker, toaster, blender, microwave) is perfect for simple meals, along with the large outdoor stainless steel grill.
The beautifully remodeled kitchen of the main house offers gourmet cooks as well as microwavers a spectacular oceanview. The stainless steel countertop, pebble tile floor, and glassfront cabinets are reminiscent of vintage cottage decor. The upgraded appliances and granite-topped peninsula make it a cook's dream.
Both cottages are equipped with WiFi, flat-screen Smart TV and DVD player, all linens including beach towels, ceiling fans, down and faux-down bed pillows.
THE PATH: An exciting feature is the Seaside Walking and Biking Path that runs along the ocean, right past the property. Visitors enjoy the Path for exploring the coastline, past Kapaa Town, beaches and amazing ocean vistas. Kapaa has been voted one of America's 15 Prettiest Small Cities (Aug 2013) by Forbes Magazine, come and see why.
THE BEACH: Just in front of the cottage, less than 30 steps across the front lawn, is the soft sand and warm waters of 'Baby Beach,' one of the safest swimming beaches on the island for small children. Here you can enjoy kayaking, snorkeling, or even SCUBA for lobster in season. The quiet waterfront vintage neighborhood is just a short stroll from Kapaa Town, with charming shops and restaurants.

Please Note: Aloha Cottages, as well as most accommodations located on or near the ocean on Kauai, are located in a tsunami evacuation zone. You will find detailed instructions and an evacuation and safe place map in your cottage to read over in case of this unlikely occurance.

About the host
Hosted by Susan Hoerner

Charlie and I have been married for 53 years (whew!) and have two grown daughters, one of whom is now our Property Manager. We divide our time between our cottages on Kauai and our house in Portland, Oregon. Charlie has retired from the high tech world where he was a consultant and trainer. I am a retired graphic designer. Now we like to hike and bike, read and travel.
Why they chose this property
We visited Kauai for the first time in 1996, absolutely loved it, and upon leaving fantasized about living here, if just for a short time. But unlike so many fantasies, this one came true. We rented Sunrise Cottage for 18 months and ultimately purchased the property, soon adding Moonrise Cottage as a second rental. The experience of being right on the ocean is like no other, we love watching the weather cross the sky, the colors and moods of the ocean change. The property is within easy walking distance of Kapaa Town, recently recognized by Forbes Magazine as one of America's prettiest small towns (Aug '13), and central to all the many wonderful things to do and see on the island. We love to recommend our favorite places to shop and eat, locally.
What makes this property unique
The front lawn of Sunrise Cottage is situated to enjoy the unforgettable sun and moon rises over the ocean, which we celebrate regularly. We use the new seaside walking/biking path almost every day to walk or bike into town, to Kealia Beach or just for some exercise. The short three mile drive to Sleeping Giant Mountain hiking trail is one of our regular expeditions, giving great cardio and amazing views of the entire eastern shoreline of the island. Our sweet little neighborhood is quiet and tucked away yet convenient for shopping, services and for getting around the island.
