Bonnie and Mark have a truly special home and are terrific hosts. The historical nature of the house, and the items in it, can provide many hours of exploration. The kitchen is terrific and my kids absolutely loved the snacks left for us to enjoy. I really hope we can stay there again. Fayetteville is a really cool town and of course the New River Gorge is worth the trip.

This was a perfect location for exploring the cute town of Fayetteville, WV, where we could walk to dinner each night. It was so close to our exploring of the New River Gorge. The house felt very homey and they had fun little touches that made it special throughout! Mark and Bonnie were great to work with and would stay here again! The house was located in a church parking lot but still had enough grass for my boys to play frisbee in!

Bonnie and Mark were AMAZING! The property was the perfect location. The amenities and the cleanliness of the home was top notch! The communication between our hosts was also excellent. We will be back and can’t wait for our next visit. Working in the hospitality world I’m grateful there are people that still honor the tradition of class act hospitality! Thank you again!! We had a fantastic stay at Cannon House Retreat! We stayed Friday through Sunday while visiting the area for a family whitewater rafting trip with Cantrell's, and it couldn't have been a better home base for our family of four.Don't let the size fool you this home packs a big punch. The thoughtful renovation makes the space feel open, comfortable, and much larger than you'd expect. The décor is a fun mix of modern and eclectic, featuring historic Civil War photographs and tasteful reminders of the rich history of Fayetteville and West Virginia.The location is hard to beat. It's about a 5-minute walk to downtown Fayetteville, with its great restaurants and shops, only 10 minutes from the New River Gorge Bridge, and about 10 minutes from Cantrells perfect for anyone planning a rafting trip.Mark and Bonnie were attentive and welcoming without ever being intrusive. They made sure we had everything we needed while giving us plenty of privacy. We also appreciated the thoughtful welcome basket, coffee, and selection of board games and books for relaxing after a day of adventure.If you're looking for a comfortable, well designed home that combines outdoor adventure with the charm of a walkable small town, Cannon House Retreat is an excellent choice. We'd absolutely stay here again!

This home is absolutely stunning! It is exceptionally clean and well maintained. The owners were very responsive to questions. Checking in was seamless. Mark and Bonnie have thought of everything and you can feel the amount of care and love they have put into every detail. We really enjoyed looking at all the civil war memorabilia. Home is within walking distance of some great local restaurants. Would definitely stay here again!

We absolutely loved our stay at this charming Civil War-themed home in Fayetteville, West Virginia! The home was spotless, comfortable, and beautifully decorated with thoughtful historical details.As a history lover, I especially appreciated that it wasn’t just a beautiful place to stay—it was educational, too. Every room had something unique to discover.The location was perfect for exploring one of the coolest small towns around, with great restaurants, local shops, and easy access to the New River Gorge.A truly unique stay that we highly recommend. This place is a living history museum. It is a great older house that has had a parking lot for the local church built around it. The hosts are very responsive and great. I came with my three teen age boys for the countries 250th in town and that was small town amazing. Outside of that we were renting ATVs about 15 minutes from the location one day, and white water rafting the next day. The amount of outdoor activities in less than a half hour drive is amazing.

This was such a lovely place to stay during our time in Fayetteville! The hospitality was exceptional and included thoughtful touches such as a personal greeting written on a whiteboard, a basket of snacks, and bottled water (including my favorite mineral water!) in the fridge. I forgot to bring my toothbrush, but there was a pack of brand new toothbrushes in the bathroom drawer as well as toothpaste. The house was extremely clean, and although it's historic, it felt brand new in some ways. There were plenty of towels and linens. And the civil war themed decor was fascinating! When I booked the house, there were no reviews yet, which can feel like a risk. But I'm so glad I took the risk and booked the Cannon House for our New River Gorge adventures because it was a wonderful place. Highly recommend! Thank you Mark and Bonnie!!
