About the host
Hosted by Stephanie Bulger
Hi, we’re Greg and Steph!
Greg is a career high school teacher with 36 years in education, and Steph is a retired banker. We’ve built a busy, full life together centered around family, travel, sports, and spending time with the people we care about most.
Family is a huge part of our lives. We have seven children and six grandchildren spread across the country, with family in Baltimore, Nashville, Alaska, Delaware, and both North and South Carolina. Needless to say, there is always somewhere to go, someone to visit, or a family event on the calendar!
Greg has also been involved in sports officiating for many years, especially lacrosse and volleyball, and we both enjoy staying active, traveling, tackling projects together, and discovering new places.
We’re pretty down-to-earth people who value family, good friends, a sense of humor, and making people feel welcome. We also share our lives with our dogs, Bella and Dusty, who are very much part of the family.
Hosting gives us another opportunity to connect with people, and we try to bring the same warmth, care, and attention to detail to our guests that we appreciate when we travel ourselves.
Why they chose this property
Hi, we’re Greg and Steph, your hosts at The Raven’s Nest!
We live in Delaware but have fallen in love with the mountains of North Carolina and especially the Fleetwood/West Jefferson area. The Raven’s Nest is our home away from home, and we enjoy sharing it with guests who are looking for a relaxing mountain getaway.
Family is a big part of our lives. Our son and his family live nearby, which is one of the things that first drew us to the area. We’re also dog lovers, and our own pups, Bella and Dusty, are the unofficial members of our hosting team!
As hosts, we try to provide the kind of experience we would want when traveling ourselves—comfortable, welcoming, well-equipped, and easy. We put a lot of thought into the little details at the cabin and want our guests to feel at home from the moment they arrive.
Although we don’t live locally, we’re always just a message or phone call away if you need anything during your stay, and we’re fortunate to have family and trusted local help nearby when needed.
We hope you enjoy The Raven’s Nest and the beautiful North Carolina mountains as much as we do!
What makes this property unique
What makes The Raven’s Nest special is the combination of comfort, privacy, thoughtful details, and a true “home away from home” feel.
We’ve worked hard to create a place where guests can settle in and relax from the moment they arrive. The cabin has a large deck with mountain views, comfortable indoor and outdoor spaces, a cozy fireplace, fire pit, and plenty of spots to enjoy a quiet morning or evening together.
We also pay a lot of attention to the little things—comfortable furnishings, well-stocked spaces, charging cords, sound machines, helpful instructions, and other touches designed to make a stay easier and more enjoyable.
The Raven’s Nest is also easy to access, with paved roads all the way to the cabin, while still offering the peaceful, tucked-away feeling people look for in a mountain getaway.
Most importantly, this is a place we personally enjoy and care about. We don’t treat it like just another rental property, and we hope that care shows in the cleanliness, upkeep, details, and overall experience we provide for our guests.
