Mountain retreat on the river, adjacent to Glacier Park
About Rochelle Danker
Being a native Montanan, I return every summer to the homestead my grandparents built in the early 1900's. I spent my early summer years learning the ways not only of the west but also of their European roots. I built the cabin 4 years ago because I wanted to be closer to the river. The original log cabin of my grandparents is where I spent the last 15 summers until I could build my own with all of todays conveniences. I can't think of any place I would rather be during the summer than in this cabin, including the Central Coast of California where I live the rest of the year.
Rochelle Danker purchased this Cabin in 2010
Why Rochelle Danker chose Coram
The cabin is on the same property as the original log cabin that my mom and her 6 siblings grew up in. It's just a short walk from one to the other but they still remain a world apart.
What makes this Cabin unique
This cabin is a long way from my permanent home, taking 3 days of driving time. There just isn't any place like Montana or the strong spirit of the offspring of the settlers that came before them. There isn't much bravado shown or horn blowing when it comes to the pride the people show in where they live. It shows in the way they treat the land, their families and visitors. You're never a stranger when you visit Montana. They are very proud of where they live, proud of how they live and are eager for visitors to feel the same way when they leave. The weather is ever changing in the spring, summer and fall. We have glorious thunderstorms that shake the ground, hot dry days made for hiking, cool nights when the mountain inhabitants become silent, waiting for yet another great day in Montana.

5 Girlfriend Getaway
Everything about this vacation getaway wey great . We had a little concern when we read about being close to a train and the train horn sound. We found this to be more charming than anoying. It was all wonderful..
I love it when our guests grow to love the trains. It's all part of the Montana vacation experience. I hope your stay was all that you expected, and then some. I'm so pleased that you chose our cabin to explore all that Glacier had to offer. You would be welcome back ant time,
Beautiful house; clean, cozy. Owner was responsive and available. Fished in the river most evenings and caught some trout (it's a steep climb down about 80 steps but isn't unsafe. Just need to be smart about it). There are train tracks nearby and you do hear the whistle at night but not a big deal. My only disappointment was in the national park itself and the crowds and lack of parking for most of the best trails. Luckily, being on the west side we had easy access to Flathead National Forest and all it's trails as well as the less-busy west side of the park. This is a great place to stay.
We have been very lucky with our guests over the past few years and have never had reason to regret sharing our cabin. I'm very glad that you got to see Montana, especially
our West side. You will be welcome back any time.
Glacier Log Home
We were grateful for a chance to escape our busy lives at this beautiful log cabin home on our very first visit to Montana. The cabin was immaculate, had everything we needed to make it feel like home, and was very spacious. We had more than enough room for our family of four adults. It has a lovely deck with a grill overlooking the river with an adventurous climb down a steep ladder, but not a problem if you are careful and watch your step. We went up and down most evenings to soak our feet and watch the kayakers go by after full days of hiking at Glacier National Park. The West entrance to the Park was only about 5 miles away, which was very convenient. The Park was extremely crowded, so we rose early each morning to cook breakfast, pack a lunch and head to Glacier. No sleeping in for us! One day we hiked at the Flathead National Forest to get a break from the crowds. Definitely worth the visit. Train tracks nearby, but you get used to the whistles after a while. Rochelle, you have a beautiful home! We had a great vacation and would love to stay here again!
I am so encouraged to know that my guests enjoyed our cabin, trains and all. If you live in the West, all of the mountains, rivers and breathtaking scenery go unnoticed until our guests remind us of just how lucky we are. I could not be more pleased with your comments regarding your stay. I hope you take a little of the Montana feeling home with you. You and your family are always welcome to enjoy that feeling again any time.
We loved this log cabin. It was perfect for our family of 7 and was stocked with everything we needed. We immediately felt at home. So cozy and comfortable.
We are so lucky to have really great guests. We want your vacation to be worry free and relaxing. If your family felt at home in the cabin, that's really good news. We would welcome you back any time.
Long awaited Montana vacation
We loved the cabin and the close proximity to Glacier. The trains were a little loud and the ladder to the river was intimidating at first. We did enjoy the workout from them though. Everyone is extremely nice there. Would highly recommend people to visit Montana.
Enjoyed this property very much. Had a great trip and everything needed was located in the cabin. Beautiful view of the river below. Would definitely recommend this place and would love to go back. Did not notice the train except when outside.
I can't be more pleased than when my guests tell me they enjoyed their stay and in some cases discovered Montana. We try to make them comfortable so that they can concentrate on all that Glacier Park and Montana have to offer. The train whistle is just one of the memories my guests take away, especially the children. I owe Mother Nature a great deal for the great weather and amazing and incredible scenery that everyone enjoys and comments on.
Glacier Park offers all summer outdoor sports; nearby towns offer antique fairs, festivals, art shows, and horse shows. Fishing contests, parades, rafting and horseback riding is readily available .Mountain bike races. zip lining, bobsled rides on Big Mountain in Whitefish is always a must. Just down the street is a whiskey tasting venue. The Maze has basketball courts, water bumper boats and miniature golf. Hungry Horse Dam on the south fork of the Flathead river is know for its fishing, boating and Huckleberry harvest.
The small western town of Whitefish is bordered by the Whitefish Lake and the summer and winter resort of Big Mountain. In winter the ski runs are some of the best the West has to offer. In Summer the mountain is host to mountain bike races and hiking. A bobsled run and zip line are some of the other activities that attract visitors and locals alike.
Located on the Swan river, Bigfork is a major market for Montana art, featuring original works of art, jewelry and crafts. The clothes reflect the high quality and design that is unexpected in a small Western town. The Civic Theater, started many years ago with the authors reading and presenting there own works, has turned into one of the best small town Civic Theaters with sell out shows. To enjoy this part of Montana and experience the best that Glacier has to offer, six or seven days is best.
