About this property

Park & Water Views at Amazwi Gallery on Periphery of Historic District.

We have two separate lovely, private condo-style suites with views of Lake Kalamazoo (Saugatuck's Harbor) and Coughlin Park on the edge of Saugatuck's downtown Historic District, steps away from premier shopping, dining and boating opportunities.

This listing is for Suite #1, the Amani Suite (Zulu for Peace) which is located on the ground level at the back of the Amazwi Contemporary Art gallery building. See Listing # 40745 for information on Suite #2, the Ndoto Suite (Zulu for Dream), which is on the second floor above the gallery.

The suites are located near the Saugatuck Center for the Arts where entertainment options range from live theater and music performances to workshops for the budding artist, and weekly Farmers' Market in the Summer. Stroll through town to the hand-cranked Chain Ferry that crosses the Kalamazoo River, then walk or take the Inter-Urban bus to world-renowned Oval Beach.

Art Lovers: during your stay, our guests enjoy a 10% discount on purchases at the Amazwi gallery, offering original fine art paintings, sculpture, jewelry and unique crafts from Africa.

We sense that you were frustrated that there wasn’t a dedicated parking spot for your nephew’s or your own car since you both arrived separately on a busy Friday night in Saugatuck — even though our listing clearly explains the situation, and emphasizes that free 24-hour parking is available on adjacent streets. While most of our guests happily make do because of our close proximity to downtown, we regret your initial frustration and are glad you ended up enjoying your stay.

The location was located close to the shops and restaurants. We parked our car and didn’t drive it until we left. You could see the lake from our suite and the lake was a short walk from our suite too.Quiet and quaint. Nice place for a couple.

My family and I loved our stay at the Amazwi suite. Our apartment was clean and decorated with beautiful art which was also available for purchase. Conveniently located downtown, we were within walking distance to boutiques and restaurants. The whole team was exceptional. The art gallery is worth a few visits as there is so much to experience. I left with some wonderful pieces.

Great downtown location next to a park, a marina, with shopping/dining all around. The marina is a great place to take a walk and relax. This is our third stay with this host (he has 2-3 units). Wally and his staff have been friendly and helpful each of our three stays. The units have always been clean and nicely furnished. The art on the walls is original and for sale. There were plenty of towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc. AC worked great. There is parallel parking in front of the unit and a good amount of pull-in parking spaces across the street from the unit. It was very peaceful and quiet at night. We will be back!

It was a wonderful stay. From the cute little deck to the interior decor with original art, this place is a delight. There is a view of the lake and a large grassy park across the street. Parking was readily available at this time of year. The town itself is super clean with loads of coffee/food locations and plenty of shopping for those who love it. And the people of Saugatuck were friendly and laid back. The Tulip Festival was amazing. I would definitely recommend this place to stay and the Tulip Festival in Holland

This property was even better than described and was exceptionally clean. The location was perfect! If you’d like a close parking spot, try to arrive in town early. Once we parked, we were able to walk everywhere for the rest of our stay, which we really enjoyed.One of our favorite parts was relaxing on the porch or sitting in the living room while taking in the beautiful water views. The bed and pillows weren’t the most comfortable for us, but that’s definitely a matter of personal preference.If you’re a light sleeper, I’d recommend bringing a fan for white noise, as there isn’t one provided. The hosts were thoughtful and supplied shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and plenty of towels and washcloths.We would absolutely stay here again. It’s a wonderful little gem in an amazing location!

Why they chose this property

This is a great 'in-town' location because it is within walking distance of everything, yet it is on a side street removed from the restaurants and bars so there is not street/sidewalk traffic at night. Directly across the street is Coughlin Park and views of Lake Kalamazoo Harbor.

What makes this property unique
