Hello Guests,
With the recent Hurricane Helene the Village of Chimney Rock and Lake Lure have been devastated. And Lake Lure is currently closed, due to the extensive clean up required to restore the Lake to its former beauty. Along with that, every person in the area has lost their jobs. So, in an effort to continuing to provide income for my housekeepers, I'm dropping the nightly rate tremendously. Check the rates and I hope it's attractive enough for you to decide to come and check out the area, as well as supporting the locals who are determined to stay and help rebuild our precious little town.
If you're unaware of the damage caused by the storm, you can check it out on Youtube, Chimney Rock NC.
There are many wonderful restaurants that are open. That even the people from outside the area come to dine.
This is a Brand New Log Home with everything Brand New. It is custom built with top quality Stainless Steel Appliances, Granite Counter Tops, and a huge deck and wrap around porch, with a Gas Grill and Picnic Table. WIFI is also provided FREE. It is furnished and decorated with an intended 'Lodge' feel that is like something like you don't typically see in this area. It has custom handmade furniture from Mexico in the bedrooms and Kitchen, with Log Beds in the guest bedrooms for that Mountain feel. The cabin also comes with the use of 2 kayaks, one 8' and one 17', and a 12' canoe. There is a 32 foot long and 8 foot wide dock. It's a beautiful cabin on one of the most beautiful coves on 'one of the most beautiful man-made lakes in the world'. ~National Geographic Magazine.

This is a NO PETS property. It is new and the floors are soft pine, and easily scratched. No Please, NO PETS. Thank you.

Many friends and former Guests have all asked, "what can we do to help?" Well, that answer is; come to the area, eat at the local restaurants, tip the heck out of the Waite staff, and go over to the Tryon International Equestrian Center where many of the Chimney Rock Merchants have set up shop to sell their merchandise. My wife and I went over there last week with 14 of our friends to Christmas shop. It was great because all of Chimney Rocks shops are now all in one location.

It's fall in the Mountains, and despite the devastation, is still beautiful.

Thank you so much to Bob for a wonderful experience in Lake Lure!!! The cabin was spotless when we arrived, Wifi was great, and he provided the sweetest handmade soaps. The free breakfast was absolutely above and beyond and exceeded our expectations. We could not have asked for a better trip.

We really enjoyed the property. Everything you need is right there. Enjoy the game room in the basement was really great. I do wish that the lake hadn’t been drained, but we still had a good time.

The entire place was beautiful. The owner was exceptional! There were no issues at all. There was a couple of pool cues broke and a missing air hockey puck but he was working to correct any issues/concerns during the entire stay. Very responsive and insightful!

House is really good for a family or group. Water toys at dock and game room in basement are a plus for this property. Driveway is a little tough getting out due to lines of sight and mattress in all three bedrooms need to be replaced.

Perfect cabin on Lake Lure

Had a great time with family at Bob's cabin! The cabin is nicely appointed, clean and uncluttered. The location is perfect and close to Ingles grocery store, Larkins on the Lake and easy access to Chimney Rock. Can't wait to visit when the first floor is completed! Great Cabin on the Lake!

My family had a great time at this cabin! It was in a very small and quiet cove where my kids jumped off thw dock, swam and rode the kayak around! We rented a boat for the family and my husband had a blast fishing on Lake Lure! We even saw a baby black bear across the way from our house. Bob was very quick at responding to my questions and helping us out! It was a great time and will definitely be back in the future!

Great cabin on the cove

This cabin was perfect, the use of kayak's, floats, fishing poles. The cleanliness of the cabin was great. We rented a boat for sunrise to sunset, the boat was brought to us and tied to the cabins dock. So that of course was a added bonus. Then we spent endless hours swimming and jumping off the dock as well. The inside was great, good internet, nice rooms. Everything in the kitchen you could need as well and the grill cooks great, If you are looking for a great location and vacation look no further, this is the spot.

Relaxing family fun

Loved the quaint cabin. The game room was a hit with all of us and we used it a ton. Kayaked and canoed on the lake. We were visiting during the down season which was perfect for our family. We enjoyed Chimney Rock and trail riding while we were there. Loved the fact that Bob was such a great host he had a few breakfast items already there. That is a super nice touch. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. The grocery store is only 5 minutes away which means a lot to us as we cook in more than eat out. Great stay full of relaxation and fun had by all of us!

Fabulous ....

We had a family gathering at the lodge, adults and children aged 8-9 yo. The property was spotlessly clean with lovely touches like handmade local soaps in the bathrooms and breakfast in the fridge :) Any questions for the owner were answered straight away. The game room contains fun activities (foosball etc.) and all that you need for lake swimming - including life vests for children. The kayaks and canoe were a big hit. It is a nice location, close to hiking trails and a grocery store. Chimney Rock is a 5 min drive. All in all, a lovely cabin, great location, and right on the lake, couldn't ask for more :)

Better take pictures

This was a great stay with a bad ending. My grandson was accused of breaking a cue stick. It was broken when we arrived. At the owners request, I bought a new coffee pot. He was supposed to pay me back but said the place was too messy. There was a bath towel left on the floor and we did not empty the bathroom waste baskets. What are housekeepers paid to do?! Bottom line: we loved the cabin and enjoyed our stay immensely (we will be back) but this owners complaints were trivial. Will not book his properties again.

Lovely home but ask questions

I rented this home 6 months in advance for an October family wedding nearby, needing 3 beds/3 baths for the 4 adults in our family group. To my shock I discovered that the one bath listed in the basement was not connected to the upstairs of the house, you have to exit, go out and around the deck to the two stairways that lead down to the lower level. What??? The owner's response was, "well, there were 2 upstairs bathrooms". Also, the owner is very strict about when you can enter the house, I asked for an early check-in and was granted entry at 3pm. I got to the house at 2:05 and seeing no cleaning crew car I decided to stop and I entered with electronic keypad. Big mistake apparently, you don't enter before your time and my communication with owner went downhill after that (there were a few maintenance issues when I arrived and I was accused of causing them (lightbulbs out, clogged sink)). The moral of my story, never assume the two parts of the house are connected (I should have asked questions), never rent through Homeaway or VRBO because they don't care that descriptions are accurate or omitted. Road noise is present as mentioned in previous reviews, you'll want your white noise app. House is located on a curve that is blind so leaving the property is tricky and not for the faint of heart. The upstairs is comfortable and spacious, the thermostat electronic so easy to set the temp you want, the beds are high but comfortable with nice touches although putting an extra nightstand and lamp in two of the bedrooms would help for those who read in bed, it feels very western and cozy. We needed the fireplace and it was a welcome addition. I did leave a necklace behind and the owner was kind enough to send it back to me.

Very cute modern log cabin. I am very happy to say i saw a couple dusty web strands but no bugs/spiders at all! The cabin is modern as in well sealed and insulated from temperature and noise and bugs. The wood work inside is absolutely beautiful! And the air conditioning worked great. Roomy, spacious, and worked out well for us. Main floor is a master bedroom with attached bathroom and two more bedrooms wirh a common full bath. There is also a nice recreation room downstairs with a foosball table, pool table, ping pong table and hockey table along with couches and lots of windows. It also has a dock although at the moment the lake is drained. That created no issue for as we weren't there for the lake but something to be aware of until its dealt with. It also has a barbecue and dining table outside and the cabin is fully stocked with utensils including BBQ.All in all a great relaxing 'base camp for us and i would highly recommend.

The house was wonderful. The lake; however, was gone. This was ok tho bc the owner advised us of this when I booked. We went to support the community. What we did not know was the amount of noise that started at 4 AM until dark with 4 - 8 big rig trucks every minute, riding jake brakes around the curves to the bottom of the hill. I was able to use ear plugs to get appropriate sleep. The area is beautiful and the vendors are in need of tourist to get them on their feet again.

While we were disappointed we weren't able to fully enjoy Lake Lure (due to the recovery from Helene), we were happy to come visit the area and support the local businesses while they work to rebuild. The property was convenient to many attractions and activities and Bob is an A host.

I have always loved log cabins. I lived in my first log cabin in Montana in 1972. There was no heat, nor running water. Except for the wood cook stove and the stream that ran past the cabin. My dog used to wake me in the mornings, in the winter, because his water bowl was frozen over,,,in the cabin.
We bought our first log cabin in Chimney Rock in 1993. It was a one room, 450 square foot cute little place with no heat nor air conditioning. I have loved this area for many years and have always thought about the cabins on Grey Log Cove and thought how much fun it would be to have a cabin there. Well, as sometimes dreams do come true...I bought a lot there in 2012 and the dream of having a cabin there is finally coming together. I think this is one of the nicest log homes, on definitely the nicest cove on the Lake Lure.

Why they chose this property

This is a very unique piece of property. It is right on the lake, on one of the nicest private coves on Lake Lure. You and your guests can take the canoe or kayaks out onto the cove for a nice peaceful paddle without having to get out onto the traffic of the Lake. Or if you choose, there are 8 restaurants, with nice bars, on the lake that you can canoe or kayak to. You can sunbath on the 32' long dock or the large wrap around deck.
Staying at 'The Lodge on Grey Log Cove' is an experience that you won't soon forget.
There is also a full basement with it's own Bath and shower, as well as a LIVING ROOM, WITH FRIDGE, FLAT SCREEN TV, POOL TABLE, FOOS BALL TABLE, AIR HOCKEY TABLE, PING PONG TABLE, AND BEAN BAG TOSS.

What makes this property unique

In building 'The Lodge on Grey Log Cove' I wanted to add some of the flavor of the West and the time I spent living in Montana near Yellowstone National Park, as well as some of the influences of my years living in Santa Fe New Mexico. This cabin is be like nothing some people have ever seen before. I wanted to keep with a 'Lodge' theme and I think it has come together pretty well.
One of the things I am most proud of is my Housekeeping staff. They are the best around. Also provided are on-site massage and baby sitting with advanced notice.
Breakfast is also provided. So don't rush out for something to eat on your first morning here. Relax, have some COFFEE and ORANGE JUICE on the deck while the HAM AND EGGS are cooking on the stove. Then taste some of my Housekeepers fresh homemade JAM, on an ENGLISH MUFFINS. Made Exclusively for the Guests of the 'Lodge on Grey Log Cove'. Also provided is free popcorn and a variety of DVD movies and a new 42' flat screen TV for your at home evening entertainment.
Also provided with the cabin's key is an 'Ingles Advantage' card. For discounts at the local grocery store. So they'll treat you like a local.
I know there are lots of places to stay on Lake Lure, but I wanted to provide more of an 'experience' to your vacation than just a place to spend the night. I've tried to add some simple 'extras' and things that you don't get at a regular 'canoe paddle on the wall' type of rental unit.This is a new log cabin, that was completed in the spring of 2014. It is a one of a kind, custom log cabin, with stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops, ceiling fans in every room, large closets, and many other custom features.
Also for your enjoyment is a full basement, with a Ping Pong table, Pool Table/Air Hockey Table, Foosball Table, Bean Bag Toss, Flat Screen TV, Refrigerator, and a Private Bath. Also many comfortable chairs and couches.
Treat yourself. Stay at 'The Lodge on Grey Log Cove'. You're worth it
