Location and description was great. Communication and information was great. Issue was mold in bathroom and floor was dirty.

sheer perfection
This darling, immaculate, aesthetically appealing, nicely landscaped cottage was the perfect choice for our stay. The owner thought of absolutely everything a guest might need, and was very generous with her amenities. Everything in the cottage was of high quality. The decor--both the color scheme and the furnishings--made for a most comfortable visit. The shaded lot meant that sitting outside in the courtyard did not require slathering up with sun lotion. We loved that the DASH bus stop was a short walk away. We loved that plenty of things were a short walk away. The dedicated parking spot in the driveway gave us peace of mind for parking the one car that we had (belonging to the other couple who stayed with us). I would not hesitate to stay here on a future visit. I would not even look for other properties. This would be my one and only choice. We felt so welcome and comfortable.

Perfect in town home
Couldn’t ask for anything more. House is clean and nicely furnished and location is just close enough to everything without being in the frenzy of the main activity. Parking spot is nice but was able to walk almost everywhere.

Great location comfortable property
This is exactly as portrayed on the listing. Very walkable to everything. We barely moved our car the entire week. Off site parking for more than 1 car. Convenient to coffee shop and all dining shopping on Kings St.

CofC FAMILY WEEKEND
I will definitely be back to this property to stay for all of our College of Charleston visits. The 3 bedrooms were perfect and the walk to everywhere was just right. Great restaurants and shops nearby. Check-in was the easiest ever.

About the host

The owner fell in love with Charleston when as a college student many years ago, he came to Charleston to teach children to sail and never left. He bought the St. Phillip Square cluster of properties and rented them on annual basis. Since then, he and his wife crossed the ocean on their sailboat with their three children and stayed in many vacation rentals. Upon returning to Charleston in 2017, the market had changed dramatically opening up this area to popular and legal short term rentals. He has owned this property since 1997 and has now made it available to short term rental.

Why they chose this property

This property features the best of Charleston! It offers the privacy of a stand alone property but is a manageable and comfortable size which is unusual in the midst of historic Charleston. Parking spot directly in driveway in front of Cottage.
The location of the cottage should be noted. Recently Charleston has imposed very restrictive rules on short term renting. This particular area is the only area that allows short term renting (under 30 days) without the owner being present. Moreover, this property is located in the most southern part of the legal short term rental area so it is the closest you can be to the South of Broad/Calhoun St. historic districts without the owner being present and still be legal. We are between Cannon and Morris Streets on St Philip St. Study the map before making decisions.

What makes this property unique

This charming cottage is nestled among historic award winning properties whilst offering one-story modern convenience and comfort. Large kitchen is fully equipped with microwave and coffee maker. It is professionally decorated, attractive and charming with a mix of antiques and carefully selected objects in the Charleston tradition. There is off-street parking for two cars.

This property is ideally located in the legally designated short term rental district.
