Great location and very comfortable
Thank you to Luther, we had such a great time. The location is fantastic a safe walk to Beale street. We were lucky to arrive for the River Art festival what a treat. The accommodation is very comfortable with all that is required to make your stay great. Secure off street parking is a great bonus for this property.

Excellent location with lots of space
This property served as a great jumping-off point for our family to enjoy and explore Memphis. 6-10min walk to Beale street and close-by options for food in "midtown" area of Memphis. Beds were clean and reasonably comfortable. My only gripe was the carpeting on the stairs from the garage and up to the rooftop really needs to be replaced and was stained/gross. Not a good first impression. Don't miss nearby "Hive" for fresh croissants and other treats. Gus' chicken was a hit (casual). And for espresso folks, make the 10 min walk to Virtue and Vice.

Nice location for exploring downtown Memphis
Townhouse only a few blocks from most of the main sites in downtown Memphis. Can easily walk to National Civil Rights Museum, Beale Street, FedEx Forum, Peabody Hotel, and historic restaurants like The Green Beetle, Gus' Fried Chicken, Dyer's Burgers, and The Arcade. We would recommend all but the last one (food at Arcade took forever/was cold). There is a weekend hangout (bar) across the street that has some booming music, but the weather wasn't great while we were there - so things stayed relatively quiet there. A sound machine in the front bedroom helps. In terms of the actual lodging, the place is perfectly functional, but just a little worn out. Stains on carpets, scuffed up walls. Towels were nice though. The kitchen was small, and while it had many utensils, it lacked certain things we needed. My wife was making birthday cupcakes for our daughter...but there were no measuring cups, no can opener, no whisk, and no soft spatula. There was also no scrub brush/pad for dishes/pans. It would also be nice to have a WORKING toaster. The one they had only had heating elements that worked on the outside. The middle elements on both sides did not work. Toast had to be rotated around to cook. A couple other minor things that would make life better for the guest: there were no facial tissues (Kleenex) anywhere in the unit. It would also be nice to have some small bar soaps for the shower and/or small shampoo bottles. All the unit had was hand soap in dispensers by the sinks.

Some Good Some Bad
I'm not sure how to rate this property because there were some really good things and some really bad, so I'll list them: The host (Luther): 10/10. He met us at the property and was super accommodating to our schedule. He gave us great recommendations for places to eat and things to do during our stay. He was awesome!!! The property: location was 10/10. It has a lot of cool artwork and memorabilia from the area. It has LOTS of beds, that were comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked, providing everything you needed to cook if you wanted to eat in. The unit was tastefully decorated which made it a "home away from home.". However, it's tired. It needs fresh paint and new carpet (or a deep cleaning). The unit is clean except for the stairway walls and the really dirty carpet. WKND, the club next door. The listing, nor the reviews, spoke of the club across the street that the loud music did not get started til 10 pm and was supposed to close at 2 am, but went til 3 am. The people attending the club would park on the street and play loud, thumping music until they went into the club and again on the way out. I told Luther that you felt the beat in your soul, not only heard it. If you plan to stay out past 2 AM or want to stay awake, then this isn't a problem, but we did not. The "white noise" machine next to the master bed did not help nor did the earplugs I bought. All in all, I would not rent it again because of the club across the street.

I have been an area resident for thirty years and have worked as a contractor in the area for most of that time. I have extensive knowledge of attractions, restaurants and entertainment venues and am very willing to pass that on to my tenants. I love this area because there is so much to do and most within walking distance. You can park your car and not need it again for your entire stay, depending upon what you wish to do.

Why they chose this property

This property is within eyesight of such great places as the Orpheum, FedEx Forum, Gibson Guitar Factory, the Civil Rights Museum, and very close to the beautiful Mississippi River waterfront. For festivals downtown, it is a prime spot with no worry about parking.

What makes this property unique

The rooftop deck is an awesome place to people watch, enjoy the sunset, smoke a cigar, or just relax with a glass of wine. It is also great for your morning coffee.
