James and Libby Roach. We're both the youngest of large families. We both grew up in
Beattyville and chose to raise our family here. We've been married for 37 years and have two daughters, ages 34 and 31. I am an elected official(Property Valuation Administrator) in Lee County and James works in the construction business. We love the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.

Why they chose this property

We bought this 40 acre property because it is located close to our home. This 3rd generation family farm had been carefully cared for by our neighbor 'Bill' who lived a long life there. When he passed away in 2009, we purchased it from his family. We think of the property as 'Bill's Place', therefore we named it that. Bill was a real character in our small town and will not be easily forgotten. It didn't take long to realize how peaceful 'Bill's Place' was. We decided to remodel his home into the beautiful cabin it is today, and share it with others. The property is like many in our area. It was home to Bill's family where he and his siblings were raised by living off the land. There is evidence of the original homestead still there. The lawn has many fruit trees, planted by Bill. The barn wood on the walls of the upstairs in the cabin was taken from Bill's old barn. There is a picture of the barn hanging upstairs. We found heirloom, garden seeds in the barn from years ago. I was told by Bill's sister, Abby, that the rose in the front yard was brought from the original homestead and before that from another old homestead. She ask me to take care of her mother's rose. James and I feel like we are the caretakers of this wonderful property for now and will pass it on just as the family before us. The property's history shows it's self every time we are there. We feel honored be part of it.

What makes this property unique

Visiting 'Bill's Place' will be a peaceful getaway from the hustle of life. It will force you to slow down and enjoy nature while enjoying all the comforts of home. The area offers something for everyone. Many of our guests are here to visit family and friends for a homecoming. Many enjoy the Wooly Worm Festival held annually in October. If you love old cars, you'll want to visit Beattyville for car shows, street cruise-in and old engine and tractor shows. Lee County is known for horse riding, off road atv/jeep riding, world class rock climbing. Lee County is home to the Three Forks of the Kentucky River that offers boating and fishing. We are located near Natural Bridge State Park, Red River Gorge, Red River Gorge Zipline Adventures. We are within minutes of The Lee County Recreational Center that offers bowling, fitness center, pizza, etc.
Lee County has 1000's of acres of the Daniel Boone National Forest located here that offers hiking, bird watching, cycling, ect.
