This place was awesome, just what we were looking for. The host was very communicative and easy to get ahold. Will definitely stay here again if we come up to Shasta again.
Owners are very friendly and helpful. The cabin was spotless and the location is superb. We were close to all the special tourist sites as well as the town with lots of pet friendly restaurants!
My wife and I, plus our two dogs, had a very nice stay here for several days between Xmas and NYE. The location was quiet, and we didn't mind the cold rainy weather since the cabin was warm and we were just looking to relax and enjoy some downtime.
We had everything we needed in this clean, quiet location. Close to everything we wanted to do with easy check in and out! We definitely want to come back soon! Thanks Rick and Amy for a seamless experience!
We loved Amy and Rick’s place. The place is spacious and cozy. Perfect for a couple to get a way to Mount Shasta. It’s close (a short drive) to town. The shower head is the best I’ve ever experienced; same to the hot tub!
Lovely property with beautiful patio out front and back. Getting up and down the stairs to the bedroom was never a problem for me, and I'm 88! Enjoyed the cleanliness of the entire place.
We enjoyed our stay in Mt. Shasta at this clean and conveniently located home. Close enough to town but yet with the privacy and relaxation of being far, far away. Our dog loved the forest and nearby lakes. He especially loved the open feel of the home where he always knew where we were! Easy to stay cool even when the days are warm, we would gladly return to this zen escape in this beautiful yet seemingly uncrowded location (compared to towns like Truckee and Mammoth!) Friendly and helpful owners to boot!
We stayed for a week at the end of August and loved it! Owners Amy and Rick were kept in touch and were available if there were any issues that came up. The house itself is in a great location. About a 7 minute drive from the town. It's on a 2 acre wooded lot, very private, and because of the shade from the trees, the house stayed pretty cool even during the low 90s we had a for a few days (there was air conditioning available, but we didn't need to turn it on).
We'd definitely return if we visit Mt. Shasta again.
Cute house for a couple. Bedroom and bathroom upstairs. While you can't control the neighbors there was a dog that barked pretty insistently all night. Finally had to close the windows to get some sleep. We are used to a quiet area so any noises are a bother for us. Close to everything we wanted to do. Great restaurants in town.

Hi Mary,
Thank you for your thoughtful review of our place. Thanks for letting us know about the dog. We have not had an issue with a dog barking in the past, so it must have been from the nearby vacation rental.
Best to you and thanks again for staying at our place for your Mount Shasta visit!
This was exactly what we were looking for. Small cottage with easy access to town. We had good family time and a lovely stay! Rick and Amy were very easy to deal with!
Loved the house and location however disappointed that the backyard was under construction - just cleared dirt and trees down. The description was cabin in the woods and "the woods" were missing especially for hot tub usage. Understand owners upgrading but need to update description of surroundings.

We have recently initiated landscaping in the backyard of our Mount Shasta cabin. Due to the fires and coordinating our landscaper, we are unable to complete the project until this fall.
Fortunately it does not affect the use of the property, it just looks like unfinished landscaping in the backyard. We are very sorry for any visual disturbance as we complete the process!
A perfect home away from home. We really enjoyed the jacuzzi & the deer coming to say hello in the early morning. Amy & Rick responded promptly to any questions we had. We totally recommend this peaceful place surrounded by beautiful trees.
Amy & Rick are wonderful hosts. When wildfires caused closure of the Mt. Shasta National Forest, they recommended alternative places for hiking. Maps of the area, as well as a brochure for Castle Crags State Park, were in their rental home. As a result, we were able to enjoy hiking alternatives in the area. Their advice and the information in the home made the difference between a mediocre trip and a great vacation.
Their rental home is very bright, comfortable and peaceful. It is perfect for couples and adequate for 4 people. The only reason I rated the home as a “4” on cleanliness is because the house does not have a dishwasher, so the dishes and utensils are only as clean as the previous renters.
We would recommend their rental home to anyone planning a visit to the area and would definitely stay there again.
This is a nice little cozy place and the owners were pet friendly! We enjoyed our stay.
The owners warned us of upcoming weather. We managed to get in after the first snowstorm and get out before the next one arrived, thankfully.
This is our families go to home every time we vacation in Mt Shasta! It's secluded in tall trees but only 5 min drive to all the action. Amy goes out of her way to accommodate her guests and the house has everything you need. We will continue to book this awesome house for years to come.

About the host
Hosted by Rick Knight & Amy Cooper
Rick is dedicated to serving his Real Estate clients' needs while enjoying an active life biking, running, swimming and hiking in the beauty of Mt. Shasta. Amy is founding Director of the Shasta Yoga Institute and had been a major inspiration and provider of Yoga studies for the community, which involves a teacher training, retreats, specialty workshops and daily classes with a variety of teachers. "We moved to Mount Shasta from the Bay Area in 2003 but bought this cabin in 1996 due to the fact that we loved coming up to visit for winter skiing and summer swimming... and had the vision that we wanted more..." Rick and Amy spend their free time enjoying trail running, hiking, swimming, back country skiing, road and mountain biking the north country.
Why they chose this property
It is secluded but close to all of the great things Mt Shasta has to offer. The large, old trees offer shade and privacy and a great feeling of the larger forest surrounds the area. It is well built and easy to heat but has a spacious loft feeling .
What makes this property unique
This place is beautiful and serene... It is in a natural setting, close to town but in the woods! For star gazing, there is a Hot Springs Hot Tub for 2-3 people is off of the back patio. It's location offers great walking right out the door on a safe dead-end road with great neighbors, which is kid and dog friendly. Please feel free to ask Amy or Rick about the area as we have 30 plus years of visiting, vacationing, living and working and adventuring in the community. Please feel free to call on us to help you plan your trip.
