We love Saumur and this Gite!

When we first moved to France we stayed at this Gite while we searched for our new home. Francoise and Alain are the best hosts and made us feel so welcome. We just went back to see everyone and visit some sites we didn't get to see while we were there the first time. It was as we remembered and so enjoyed our visit.

Excellent base for cycling

Owners/hosts made us very welcome and on hand to help when required. Cottage was ideal for what we were looking for - self contained, quiet, private, secure parking and great base for cycling both sides of the Loire and very quiet back roads. Very large garden space front and back was a bonus. All made it an excellent weeks stay.

House by the river one week stay

We had a lovely stay in this typically French house. Perfect location and lots of outside space for us and the dogs. Easy 4K cycle by the river up to Gennes and Roisiers and only 12k into Saumur for a bigger choice of shops and restaurants. Enjoyed kayaking on the river and ending the day with a cold beer at the local tabac. The house is a little old fashioned but perfect for a holiday stay. I would have like sun loungers in the garden but there was plenty of other seating and some lovely shady spots to sit and read and relax. Perfect for us.

We only stayed one night as couldn’t stay any longer. Totally misrepresented property Very small dark and unclean with conjoined bedrooms whereby only access to the one bathroom was via another guests bedroom In one bedroom enormous wardrobe steadied with bricks !! See photo - Unsafe No privacy Garden area just scorched moss Unsure as why a tennis court had been advertised in grounds as this was not the case Hosts didn’t speak English as advertised and were unhelpful and insisted on keeping the money and not refunding for the stay we didn’t have Thankfully Vrbo have been very helpful so we could find alternative accommodation

Very welcoming hosts, they met us at the property and showed us around and explained how to use everything.The house is set just a couple of minutes walk from the riverbank, in a quiet neighbourhood. The front garden has lots of parking space and shady spots, the back garden is more open, with a big table (newer chairs than pictured), BBQ and washing line. The house has a quirky layout, which we knew before coming. You enter into a dining room, which is separated from the kitchen only by a glass wall. Out through the kitchen is one double bedroom and a toilet tucked in with the boiler. To the left of the dining room are the other two spacious doubles, you have to go through one to get to the other. Both have a door to the shared bathroom. The bathroom is two rooms, one with shower, narrow toilet and sink, the other is newer with bath and sink.As a family the layout was OK for us, but wouldn't suit everyone! There are no sofas for relaxing, but if you use evenings for playing games/planning trips at the table maybe you won't miss them. The location was perfect for exploring, we are at the local guingettes (la toue cabanee and la terasse de entente), explored beautiful Saumur and Angers, saw 3 château including Chenonceau, watched the Cadre Noir matinales and visited troglodyte and mushroom attractions.Thanks for a great stay!

If in the evening you were tired you can use the armchairs which are movable as desired. They can also fit under the table allowing you to play. i'm happy this stay allowed you to visit the country.

Idéalement situé. Grand et agréable jardin. Maison bien équipée. Un petit rafraîchissement de l’intérieur serait un plus. Un conseil de visite : le clocher des Rosiers (clé à demander à l’office du tourisme de Gennes). La vue de là-haut est très sympa !

Très bon séjour dans cette maison

Nos souvenirs dans le cadre du marathon de la Loire qui se déroulait le dimanche 11 mai nous sommes arrivés le jeudi 8 le propriétaire a été très cordial et nous a laissé la chance de pouvoir repartir un peu plus tard le dimanche ce qui est très sympathique.

bon accueil, maison bien chauffée et bonne literie. mais cuisine très vieille, pas de lave vaisselle et meubles dépareillés . pour le prix je pense que nous pourrions avoir mieux! quant à la sdb la douche doit dater d'au moins 30ans!! meme si il y a une baignoire neuve.

un bon séjour en bord de Loire

Maison très bien située dans cette région , belles promenades en bord de Loire , beaucoup de choses à découvrir dans ses environs. La maison est grande (sauf le séjour ),bien équipée, les deux jardins agréables (encore plus avec deux transats.....) Un très bon séjour !

Le descriptif abritel de cette location n'est pas conforme à la réalité, (chambres en enfilade et sanitaires peu fonctionnels )

Les chambres en enfilade sont mentionnées dans le contrat de location que vous aviez signé. ainsi que dans la description des chambres sur le site (il n'y a aucune tromperie). Quant aux sanitaires, nous les avons remis en fonctionnement après votre départ. Néanmoins nous attendons le passage d'un plombier depuis un certain pour vérifier l'installation. Nous sommes toujours soucieux du bon fonctionnement des équipements ménagers et sanitaires avant l'arrivée des locataires (s'il y a un problème, le locataire en est toujours averti à son arrivée).

beautiful house near the Loire with a nice garden

We enjoyed our stay very much. De house is old but very spacious with large fenced front and back gardens. Ideal for our small dog. It's at walking distance from the Loire for nice evening walks. The neighbourhood is quiet. Very good boulanger just down the road. Strategically located between Saumur en Angers and the chateaus. We also loved the pak Oriental and lunch in the caves at Turquant.

Très bon séjour en famille

Maison conforme à sa description, idéale pour une grande famille. Propriétaire à l'écoute. Mes enfants ont bien profité du jardin. Très bonne boulangerie sur la place de la Mairie, et bords de la Loire accessibles à pieds pour des promenades agréables. Notre séjour de 4 jours s'est très bien passé.
