Great place for kayaking, fishing and swimming off the dock. The sleep accommodations were adequate, and the kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils, dishes and glasses. Our kids and their families enjoyed our stay.
This is a really cute lake cottage with a lovely view. It's very quiet and peaceful. We really enjoyed getting out on the kayaks and hanging out on the deck.

Serenity Cove
We had a wonderful time. The house and area is beautiful the lake was great. We went fishing in the kayaks every day. We caught a bunch of Bass, Perch, and Pickerel. It was just wonderful to sit on the deck and watch the lake.
The house smelled bad, kitchen is horribly outdated and gross, bathrooms too, back door would hardly lock, upstairs bath smelled terrible and had no outlets, rowboat was advertised and we were told not to use it, linens were not there, mattress protectors and pillow protectors not there, house is generally *very neglected, all blinds broken at arrival, zero privacy from downstairs bathroom window to the outside. My husband had to trim weeds and trees so we could use the stairs, the deck was shoddy in construction, planter stands all rotting. Generally dilapidated smelly house worth about 1/3 what we paid. Kitchen supplies were like Goodwill mismatches and rejects. Rusty spatula for Teflon pan. Needs A/C, dish washer, washer, and dryer. Not nearly enough dish soap, toilet paper, utensils. No Charcoal or lighter. lake was nice.

Thank you for your recent visit to Serenity Cove. We are very sorry that you did not enjoy your visit. We do strive to make each guest feel relaxed during their vacation. Unfortunately some of our guests have found that a lack of several modern conveiances such as air conditioning, garage and dishwasher make the stay less pleasant. To that end, we are sorry that Serenity Cove mismatched these standards.
Our location as well, while generally receiving high marks, can certainly make some guests feel uneasy. The scent of the surrounding forest and moist air from the lake may make some guests feel as though the area has an offensive odor. We encouage our potential guests to investigate the area and ensure that the location is best suited for their vacation.
We also want to apologize for the lack of linens, while we did refund the fee we did not hear about this until your check out. We have linens on site and would have made them available if only we had known.
I am puzzled by one comment and that is for the bathroom window. The only window in the bathroom is a small frosted vent window above the shower. This is 7 or 8 feet in the air and faces the woods. We do not have curtains on this and honestly we likely will not add it as it would be very difficult to look in based on the location and height.
While we are sorry that we did not meet your expectations, we hope that you will consider using privately owned vacation rentals in the future. Thank you visiting us this year
We've stayed at 3 other homes on Loon Lake, and while this one wasn't the fanciest, we weren't looking for fancy. Summer at Loon Lake is all about the lake and being outdoors. Indoors was comfortable for sleeping and food prep, but the lake is definitely the star. Our stay was about a family celebration, so our time was spent across the lake - some walked, some kayaked, some drove. We had a successful stay!

Nice little getaway 3.5 stars
The house was a little older than we anticipated but had everything we could possibly need for a little weekend getaway. The weather was perfect for fun filled days in the water. Wished there was air conditioning due to the 90+ degree days we had but the house had fans we used and because the house is surrounded by trees and tucked away in a little cove, it helped cool off as the sun started to set. We had 5 adults and 4 kids with plenty of room. It was nice to have a bedroom upstairs with a large room for the kids to sleep and play while the adults were downstairs. The small bathroom upstairs was very convenient as well. The kitchen was a bit small but we made it work and everything you would need to make meals for 9 was super easy with all the supplies and equipment provided. The electric grill they had on the top deck we couldn't figure out how to use so we just used the oven. The smart TV and many many movie options was wonderful the night's we just wanted to relax with a big bowl of popcorn. There was a nice big bathroon on the main floor along with a bedroom that had pleanty of room for small ones that didn't want to be away from mommy and daddy at night to sleep in a pack-n-play and a cot . There was thankfully a small swimming area on the left side of the stairs leading into the water which was perfect for the little ones. From the end of the dock out a couple hundred yards not ideal for swimming due to all the seaweed. Absolutely awesome for fishing but again not so much for swimming. Thankfully with the row boat and two kayaks provided and the water toys we brought once the water was deep enough we couldn't see or feel it, it was perfect for swimming. We spent a lot of our time in that area relaxing on our floats and watching everyone else enjoying what Loon Lake has to offer. The neighbors down the road were nice and friendly. Overall we had a wonderful experience on Loon Lake and most importantly made amazing memories for our family.

GREAT VACATION
WE HAD AN AMAZING TIME ON LOON LAKE. THE LAKEFRONT COTTAGE WAS ALL WE COULDVE ASKED FOR. BEING BACK IN THE COVE WAS SO PEACEFUL AND OUT OF THE RUSH OF THE BOATS AND JET SKIS. WE FLOATED ON TUBES DURING THE DAY AND TOOK THE KAYAKS AND BOAT OUT AT NIGHT. FISHING WAS GREAT ESPECIALLY FOR THE KIDS. WE CAUGHT OVER 200 FISH (ALL CATCH AND RELEASE). WEATHER WAS GREAT, WATER WAS WARM. WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK.

All amenities were supplied as listed, which was greatly appreciated.

Simply a sweet, semi-secluded lakefront cottage
The Lawson's are wonderful to deal with, from offering suggestions on where to get the most out of your money for ice cream to sending out someone to work on the rowboat. We owned travel trailers for years, but ours was destroyed in a storm last year so this was the first time we rented a property and the experience could not have been better. The cottage is sweet, fully stocked with just about any utensil or appliance you need and the access to the lake is perfect - and we actually had our own privacy tucked back in our own little cove. We caught pickerel, bass, perch and panfish. Many nearby attractions include the Glen Curtis Museum, Hazlitt and Bully Hill Wineries, great fish fry at the Mountainview Hotel in Atlanta, good food (great wings) 5 minutes away at the Laf-a-Lot restaurant/bar, grocery shopping as close as 15 minutes in Dansville and of course the Finger Lakes! We hope to stay here again and thank the Lawson's for their wonderful hospitality. Sincerely,
The McCloud's.
