About this property
Cedar Cliff Cabin at Rivers Edge Rentals. Luxurious reclaimed 125 year old cabin
Come relax on the spacious front porch and enjoy the long range mountain views while listening to the soothing sounds of the river below. Step back in time while enjoying all the modern creature comforts. We took down this 125+ year old hand hewn cabin several years ago and have been anxious to be able to recreate what you see here in the Cedar Cliff Cabin! This perfect getaway sits on a 65 acre private estate located in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains. The setting makes you feel like you are in the back country yet you are minutes from everything this area has to offer. We are only 1 mile from I 40 exit 24 and 25 miles to downtown Asheville and the Biltmore estate. You only need to make a mere 10 minute drive to enjoy all that downtown Waynesville has to offer from fine dining to some of the areas best local breweries.
This property takes shape after a lifetime of finding old barns and log cabins that were destined to be torn down or even left to rot away. Through the years we have carefully dismantled these structures and saved every usable item we could to try to create something special to us..... and hopefully special to our guests as well. From the antique hewn logs to the reclaimed locust porch posts, rails, and decking this is a uniquely different log cabin that you will have a hard time finding anything comparable. Step inside and feel the antique solid oak hand scraped barn wood flooring under your feet. Enjoy the warm feel of the solid poplar barn wood walls and ceilings mixed with just enough Spanish style stucco to brighten each space you enter. Enter the master bath to the spacious open shower with natural stone walls and stone mosaic flooring. Look above to see the exposed locust rafters and reclaimed beams in the vaulted ceiling.
You will more than likely spend most of your time here on the front porch relaxing to the long range mountain views. Watch closely for the huge cranes, hawks, and the occasional bald eagles that patrol the river. With the close proximity to the river you will most likely see some type of wildlife during your stay, there are coyotes, turkeys, groundhogs, deer, bear, squirrels, etc. This property is home to more than 50 head of cattle so no pets are allowed at any time during your stay here. Also no smoking in the house but it is fine to smoke outside on the porch. Please put discarded cigarettes in the containers provided as this property is in a wooded area with lots of dry leaves.
We hope that your visit to the mountains of western North Carolina and stay in our cabin create memories that will stay with you forever. Please respect the cabin and treat it as if it were your own as we respect you as a customer.
With four unique private cabins now on the property, Riverbend Cabin (listing number 7843149), Paradise at the Rivers Edge (listing number 1148597), CastAway Cabin (listing number 3156188), and now Cedar Cliff Cabin please check out our feedback ratings on the other properties and feel free to message about renting multiple cabins for your family getaway. All three are within walking distance yet very private.

About the host
Hosted by Jack Chambers

Jack and Christy....Jack grew up on this very farm and after moving to Central America for a couple years in the US Army he has been here ever since . Christy grew up outside Pittsburgh Pennsylvania in Uniontown but came to the mountains of western North Carolina in 1997.
Why they chose this property
After operating a Hardwood Flooring business for 35 years we decided to retire and try something new. This farm has been in the family since the late 1800s so we wanted to do something special right here at home. Managing three cabins we have here on the property are now our new way of life. We enjoy meeting new folks and making many new friends along the way.
What makes this property unique
Staying here will give you the privacy you need to step back and get in tune with nature yet be close to all the areas activities. Once at the cabin you will feel like you are miles away yet just a short 1 mile drive back to the interstate. This cabin is a perfect spot for a romantic anniversary getaway!
