MATLACHA pronounced (MAT-la-shay)! Located in SW Florida, 30 mins from Fort Myers Beach, 40 mins from Sanibel Island, served by 2 major airports, 30 mins from (RSW)Southwest Florida International Airport, 25 mins from (PGT) Punta Gorda Airport with many non-stop flights on Allegiant Air, 90 min from Venice/Sarasota and 2.5 hrs from Fort Lauderdale.
This home offers the best of both worlds, close to endless shopping, restaurants, beaches, a myriad of outdoor activities and some of the best fishing in SW Florida. A boating oasis and a real fisherman's dream.
Matlacha is Florida's last hidden gem often referred to as 'the Old Key West' that boast unique art galleries, shops, restaurants and bars that provide daily live entertainment.
Come and enjoy our beautifully appointed 2BR/2BA 1565 sq. ft. fully equipped home. The only thing you need to bring is YOU!
We provide a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, oven, cook top, refrigerator, microwave, Cuisinart coffee maker, blender, place settings for 12, all utensils, everything to make a gourmet meal. For the griller in you, we provide an outdoor gas grill too.
Don't worry about the linens, we provide sheets, wash clothes, plush towels and even beach towels.
WiFi internet and cable TV also provided.
We also have a PRIVATE boat lift and dock on a deep water canal with direct access to Matlacha Pass, Charlotte Harbor, Cayo Costa State Park, Cabbage Key, Captiva, Sanibel Island, Boca Grande, and the Gulf of Mexico.
If you have a boat, bring it and tie it up to our dock. It's only a short 10 min ride to Matlacha Pass. If you want your boat out of the water we also provide a #6000 boat lift available upon request. Boat rentals are always an option and can be rented a short distance away. A boat ramp is less than a mile away.
Enjoy the living room as you watch the huge flat screen TV while you lounge on the leather couch or just wind down as you read a book in the Florida room overlooking the canal.
The master bedroom has a KING size bed and also has a full bathroom, and walk in closet.
The second bedroom has two full beds and is also well appointed. It too has a generous closet for your clothes.
If you need to do some laundry, NO WORRIES... there is a washer and dryer located in the laundry room located just off the kitchen.
If you like fishing, boating, beaches,sunshine,shopping, the Old Key West lifestyle, relaxation, or you just want to get away from the cold up north, then this is your PARADISE.

We want to make your experience one that will bring you back for more. Our local managers Kim and Tom will provide that personal touch and should you need anything during your stay are available only a short distance away.

We loved our stay. The kids had a blast fishing off the dock and the house was the perfect size. We had a wonderful time! We took our boat and tied it to the dock with no problems. Short ride out to the bay.

Good location in Matlacha Isles

The interior of the property was a little dated and was not as clean as we would have like when we arrived. Overall a good location and a nice setting. We loved the sunroom.

We loved the neighborhood!

We rented Keith’s home for a month and found it just perfect for us. We loved the location, with local amenities close by and convenient. The neighbors were friendly and gave us good suggestions for places to eat and things to do. The house itself was cozy but spacious and we spent lots of time in the Florida room, looking at the water and watching the birds.

Cape Coral Connections

We arrived at this charming and very well furnished home before Christmas and stayed for a week. We couldn't have been more delighted with everything. There are plenty of cozy places outdoors to sit and watch the water and the neighborhood activity. Everybody in this place was more than friendly and we had tons of waves and welcomes from dog walkers, afternoon and morning strollers and folks driving by. We have family in the area so we cooked a lot and accommodated 7 and 8 easily for meals and entertaining. We are definitely going back again and again.

Home was comfortable and provided everything we needed for our one week stay. Nice quiet neighborhood. Enjoyed walking the neighborhood in the morning and meeting others out walking. Home was in close proximity to Matlacha Island. Matlacha gets very crowed in the afternoon and evenings and parking is extremely limited. The home's location is also close to Coral Oaks Golf Course which I played several times. Public beach at the Cape Coral Yacht Club is only about 20 minutes away and is wonderful. Relaxing and comfortable stay!

Our stay at Keith and Evelyn's home in Matlacha was wonderful. The house was cozy and very well equipped with all the comforts and conveniences we needed.We were greeted with a lovely bottle of wine which was most welcome after our late flight. The kitchen was well stocked with service for 12 and lots of utensils and gadgets available.The decor was colorful and lovely and the beds and linens were comfortable and clean.TVs were available on both bedrooms as well as the living area and the WIFI worked well. My favorite room was the "Florida" room that overlooked the canal. It was a great place to read and relax! The house is situated in a lovely residential community on a canal and was very close and convenient to loads of shopping areas. We took a lovely drive-about 45 minutes to Sanibel Island to visit the gorgeous beaches and saw dolphins and collected some lovely seashells.This home was a great fit for us as were visiting and entertaining our Florida family. We would recommend this house for a relaxing Florida stay!

My get-away in Matlacha at the Castaway

My husband, who couldn't get out of work, was kind enough to encourage me to take an adventure to relax and be carefree after being extremely stressed by work. That's how I ended up at the the Castaway. I immediately adjusted to the laid back Southern lifestyle. I read many books that were on my list while watching the water in the canal shimmer. I ate the ripened mangoes from the tree and enjoyed the sun-filled morning back deck. Yes, I found a place called serenity. The house was very CLEAN, delightfully and tastefully decorated with a palette of colors to match the shades of Matlacha. Even though I preferred being here with my husband, I felt at ease and safe on my own exploring the area; going to local eateries like Miceli's and Bert's that provided music and no cover charge with good food priced right. I ventured out for a hair cut at Neff Studio Salon and they called me the next day to see if I liked my cut and to check if I had a good experience. That was incredible! I also ordered some fish from the local market and Andy called to make suggestions as to other catch-of-the-day items being brought in from local fisherman. I also explored Cape Coral Yacht Club, Sanibel and Captiva Island and Ft. Myers beaches as well as some of the nature parks. When I come back to the Castaway, I will make sure my husband gets to enjoy our new home away from home when we need to escape the rat race! Truly a little piece of paradise!

My whole family loved our stay. We took our boat and we were able to use the dock and fish the canals. The house was very clean and spacious. Will definitely recommend and rent again!

This vacation home is located on a very quiet, secluded residential plot, with road access at the front and water access at the rear. Very convenient for Matlacha village (5 mins by car), major supermarket (3 mins) and Pine Island. The house has everything you need for independent living - full kitchen with dishwasher; utility with washing machine & dryer. Substantial glazed conservatory with views onto the waterway, as well as outdoor seating areas.

GREAT GETAWAY..GREAT LOCATION..GREAT PLACE

This was a last minute fishing getaway and what a pleasant charming place in a great neighborhood. The house was very clean with modern appliances including a washer and dryer and right on a deep water canal on which we tied up our boat to the dock. The neighbors are wonderful and the neighborhood was quaint and peaceful. We would like to thank Evelyn and Keith for the generous hospitality and for allowing us to stay at their little "paradise". We would defininetly be back again. Thanks for a GREAT get away.

Home away from home!

This property is so homey and well maintained! My favorite part of the house is the “sun room” that looks out into the canal. The owners provide wonderful service as well! Our stay was for six days and enjoyed every minute of it! This property allows you to explore so much whether it be to go to the beach for a day, go out to eat, or stay at home and fish off the dock. I would recommend to anyone and will be looking to book again very soon!!

Wonderful Stay!

Such a wonderful, comfortable home! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend Castaway in Matlacha! The house is located nearby to grocery and other shopping yet is tucked away in a quiet, friendly neighborhood. The house is exactly as pictured with beautiful tasteful decorating and all the things you need for your stay. My favorite room was in back with windows all around and views of the dock and canal! Really hated to leave! I wish I could have this exact home everywhere I travel!

Lovely Home!

This place was amazing we really enjoyed spending our 4th of July here. We traveled to Fort Myers for fireworks and they were outstanding. Everything is close to this home as far as restaurants, grocery stores, beaches, etc. The dock out back was great for the kids to fish off of. The inside was very welcoming, spacious and relaxing. Will definitely return in the future.

AMAZING STAY! HOME AWAY FROM HOME!

I had such a wonderful, relaxing girls week at this place. Fantastic bars and restaurants close by, and plenty of things to do. In addition to driving to the beach, there is a rental place right down the road where a few of us tried paddle boarding for the first time! It was such a blast!! We also went kayaking through the mangroves, which was spectacular! Owners are quick to respond, and property managers are just a short distance away. House was clean, well organized and decorated. All in all, wonderful home away from home place in such a friendly neighborhood! Looking forward to renting again!

Wonderful

Coming from Minnesota, I was looking for a place to thaw out and relax, well, I hit the jack pot. The minute we walked in we were greeted with a pristine home and a bottle of wine to boot! The house is extremely warm, decorated beautifully and located on a canal full of jumping fish to greet you. The Sidehamers and the managers are quick to respond if you have any questions. I loved the location whether you want to go to the mainland or further up the island. We went to other islands, we fished, did some airboating, and it was always nice to come back to the house and unwind. I only hope I have the chance to come back and stay here again. We currently live to the north in Pennsylvania and enjoy everything about the outdoors, from fishing, hunting, skiing, swimming, cycling, hiking, boating, and just plain ole relaxing!

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with the laid back atmosphere and Old Key West lifestyle of Matlacha over 10 years ago. My friends and I began fishing in the north and slowly migrated to warmer waters to escape the bone chilling cold, especially in early spring. My good friends Capt. Terry "the Fish Whisperer" and Capt. Paul from "Team Tarpon" have been instrumental in our decision to chose Matlacha. Matlacha was that hidden gem which was recently featured on HGTV and other TV programs as a great place to own a beach house or second home. Not to mention some of the best fishing in Florida, from fishing the flats for reds, mangrove snapper, snook and trout to fishing the deeper waters for tarpon, grouper, shark and mackerel.
Matlacha is close to everything from fast food, grocery stores, to the local bars and restaurants. This town really has it all. It's a great place to relax and enjoy the local artist with shops and displays throughout the town or to kick back at some of the local pubs.
It truly is a whimsical historic fishing village and the last remaining "Old Florida".
