Check-in was simple as our host was there to greet us. Linda answered all our questions promptly and was always on hand. The kitchen had what we needed and we cooked most nights.
We had a wonderful time and would definitely stay here again. Linda was very responsive and - more importantly - very warm! Made us feel very welcome in her space. The different cottages allowed us a lot of options to both be together (the full group was 10) and get some downtime/alone time when needed. The lakefront is great - lots of space and furniture. The docks are a bit older which just makes fishing and jumping for the kids a bit tricky. But overall, a really great trip!
Great property to host extended family celebrating a milestone birthday for my dad. We enjoyed kayaking/paddle boarding/canoeing/fishing on the lake and evening campfires. It was also a nice base camp for exploring the area including vineyards, bike trail to Seneca lake, and the Corning glass museum. Plenty of space and things to entertain our multi generational group of 14.
Had a wonderful time. Location was perfect. supply of kyaks etc was appreciated since we all loved being in the water. Loved the hot tubs and
Sitting on the deck for morning coffee.
The down side was not having central air on the main house and losing Wi-Fi throughout the
Week. Linda tried her best to remedy the
Wi-Fi problem. Fun
Vacation
We stayed here with our wedding party over Labor Day Weekend and loved every part of this house. It is the absolute perfect setup for a larger group with separate living areas and kitchen space so you don't feel on top of each other. We spent every night out on the beautiful porch, in the hot tub, or at the beach which is large enough for the whole family to hang around the campfire. Linda is an absolute gem and was attentive to anything the group needed throughout the stay, which wasn't much as the house is fully stocked with all the essentials and beyond. As someone who grew up on the lake with a family who has rented probably over 100 properties around the lake over generations - this place was TOP TIER and we will definitely be back!
Cooking in the house with the dishwasher was a wonderful experience. It was fully stocked with pans, bowls and utensils. There was plenty of outside seating on the decks and down by the water. Having 2 hot tubs was a luxury. We did most of the meal preparation in the house with the dishwasher. We had some hot days and the kitchen ran about 80 degrees because there is no central air conditioning in the main part of the house with the dishwasher. Both bedrooms in the house with the dishwasher had air conditioners so it was cool in the bedrooms to sleep. We had enough beds for everyone so we did not use the loft. Our group enjoyed using the canoe and the three kayaks. For our late July stay, Keuka Lake lived up to it's reputation of being the warmest of the Finger Lakes. While swimming, we noticed that the water was remarkably clear with no seaweed.
We rented both houses for a family getaway! We loved the access the the lake which was beautifully clear! We kayaked we canoed. We rented paddle boards and shore line rentals delivered! Sitting in the hot tub with a view of the lake was so relaxing. The living area was perfect for cool mornings and very comfy. But we spent most of our time on all the decks or lakeside. The fire-pit was great in the evenings to continue the fun. We were able to watch the perseid meteor shower from the docks. The star gazing is amazing! Linda the owner was helpful and quickly available for any questions or concerns. We would so return and we recommend highly! In addition we did not ever need to leave but we enjoyed Hunt Country and Dr Frank Konstantin
Wineries, the little mercantile in Branchport and the availability of bigger stores in penn Yan. (And 2 can dans in penn Yan for recycling was super quick and nice!). Thanks for a great week!
We had an amazing time at Blacksmith Cove! We traveled with small kids (2 and 7) and a bunch of extended family.
This was a perfect spot for kids and water... the wade in (stone... be sure to bring water shoes) beach was perfect for the little ones and stayed fairly shallow and protected for quite a while. The kids basically lived in the water and it was very low stress for us parents. We made good use of the boats, docks and hot tub!
The decks and living room areas were super comfy and made the adults quite happy to sit and relax.
The hosts were extremely responsive, helpful and flexible. This was an extremely challenging trip for us on a personal level (car troubles, illness, etc) and the house itself and the hosts' helpfulness saved the trip!
It was a wonderful relaxing week with my family. We all enjoyed the swimming, boating, kayaking and canoeing along with the general relaxing time spent together.
We had family members from age 10 to 65 and all had an amazing time. We were in the lake every single day!!! The shaded deck was perfect as we had some super hot days.
We had a great stay and Linda was fantastic to deal with. I highly recommend this property for a family vacation. Perfect location and the amenities were fantastic!
This property was great for our week at Keuka. 2 families with adult children and their friends. The guest house was perfect for the adult kids to be in. We enjoyed the hot tub, the fire pit and floating in the lake all week. The property owner was great to work with and responded immediately with any issues. It was great to have someone meet you at the house on your arrival and show you around. We are looking to book again.
This property delivered what it said it would - the hosts were awesome. Beautiful spot.
It was a great place for our extended family - beautiful setting and great outdoor space. The host was very responsive and could not have been more helpful. All in all it was a great stay!
The property was perfect for our large family (8 adults, 5 children) - the house is right on the lake, near the wineries and close enough to Penn Yan that trips for supplies weren't an issue. Lovely place!
We were very lucky to get a booking on short notice. From booking forward through the stay Linda and son Alec were responsive and a pleasure handling all questions. When we arrived it was like stepping into another place and time. Large property with LOTS of open areas, decks, beach, docks for relaxing (and btw social distancing) - larger than the pictures may look. The property has many trees giving it a treehouse feeling while allowing all full choice between shade and sun. Also the pictures of the main house do not do it justice - very spacious.
The water was very warm this week - great for swimming and boating. If you are looking for a brand new, pristine place with new everything this may not be for you - but if you want a very classic lakeside property with warmth, character, space, water, relative seclusion, this is your place. It is a treasure and I wish I was back watching the sunrise and calm lake all day from many vantage points.
We will return.
Blacksmith Cove's two houses were a great fit for our bunch of friends with kids. The water was pretty quiet - not too much boat traffic - and though it wasn't deep enough to really jump in off the dock, the shallow beach was perfect for the younger kids in our group. We loved the treehouse feel, too - very charming!
This was our 25th Annual Keuka Lake Family Vacation and this was our first visit to Blacksmith Cove - it definitely did not disappoint! We were pleased to be on the West Branch as that is the area where the "elders" of us spent time when we were younger. We used all of the facilities of both cottages - the decks, the docks, the hot tub, the beach, the firepit, the hammock, the loft, the kitchens, the grills, the laundry, the canoe, the kayak - we especially enjoyed the deck on the main house because it was like a treehouse; even in the morning sun, there was enough shade that it was pleasant for morning coffee and conversation. We had a heatwave during our stay this year but the A/C in all of the bedrooms made pleasant sleeping for all. And the stairs are very gentle so that even us "elders" were in lovely, clear Keuka every day. Linda greeted us when we got there and gave us a tour extraordinaire - she is a fantastic owner and was very responsive to us any time we asked her a question.
Located on beautiful Keuka lake, clean clear water. Perfect for water sports, family gatherings and bonfires and s’mores at night. Two issues with plumbing and ants were taken care of immediately. Two drawbacks were you should only drink bottled water and low water pressure for showers. Overall great experience!
This was our second stay at Blacksmith Cove, and it was as great as we remembered. Location is awesome, close to towns, wineries, breweries, marinas, plenty of activities for kids of all ages, (kayaking, canoeing, swimming). Highly recommend!!! Thanks Linda!

Memories on Keuka Lake
This was our first time at the cottages on Keuka Lake. We very much enjoyed our time together especially all that the outdoors had to offer from the hot tub to the hammock to the easy access to the lake/docks. The seating at the main cottage was perfect for our 8 adults and 4 children. We loved being able to look out on the lake from anywhere on the porch. The porch at the guest house became quite the gathering place on the one day that it rained really hard. We all hung out there most of the day. If it wasn't for that covered porch we would have had to sit indoors and we all just wanted to be outside even though it was raining.
We loved the location of the fire pit and that we were able to bring our own kayaks and fishing boat to which we had easy access right at water's edge.
Sitting on the dock in the early morning hours was so quiet and calming. We even saw a few fish jumping.
We did have issue with the lack of central air-conditioning. Three out of the seven days we were there the temperature was above 90 degrees with the temperature in the kitchen on those days being close to 100 which made preparing meals almost unbearable.
Some things in the cottages really need to be updated such as the carpeting in the living rooms. The guest house living room carpeting was especially dirty with a musty smell that was apparent as you approached the door from the outside. I was very hesitant to even allow the grandchildren to play on those carpets.
We did appreciate having a washer/dryer and that there were two 5 gallon bottles of water available to us.. Kids loved the loft and hanging out up there.
There was one incident that was quite upsetting and that was that our 15 year-old granddaughter's second jump off the dock the day we arrived landed her on a cinder block that was in the water at the end of the dock. She obviously didn't see it nor did any of us expect that to be in the water at the end of the dock. She came out of the water with a huge gash on her leg. We dressed it the best we could but had to take her to an urgent care facility the next morning, the closest one being in Geneva. We had to change her dressings every day and she refused to go in the water the rest of the week which was what the 4 grandkids love to do more than anything. She will have a permanent scar no doubt about it.
We had a lovely time at the cottages. A few improvements would have made it perfect.
