About this property
At the very end of Cornwall , charming fisherman's cottage
Ivy Cottage is cosy, calm , in easy walking distance to beach, harbour,, shops and cliff paths.
It combines the charm of an old cottage with the convenience of modern amenities.
After long hours swimming, surfing or trecking along cliff walks, light a barbecue outside or inside a fire in the wood-burning stove in the big granite fireplace
From the windows of the bedroooms, watch the ships sailing to Ireland or , at night , enjoy the flashing of the Wolf Rock lighthouse or the moon reflecting on the sea.
You can sleep well in the main bedroom, equipped with a wardrobe and a chest of drawers ,and also in the second bedroom equipped with 2 adult-size comfortable bunk beds ,wardrobe and cupboard. The bathroom offers you the choice of a shower or a nice hot bath
Downstairs , in the bright and well equippped kitchen , you can cook traditionally with the Rayburn cooker or use the electric appliances ( for your shopping ,walk to the Farmers' market or to the local shops nearby , but if you are tired of cooking , there is the famous First and Last pub , a few paces from the cottage!)
Six of you can sit round the kitchen table beside the window looking into the garden.
Nestling in the sofa, you can relax and watch TV or a DVD or stare at the flames if you have lit a fire.
Outside in the south facing flower garden, soak up the sun or enjoy the nice sea air.
Beyond the low wall and the small trees , are the moors , Lands End and the vast ocean.
Buses stop a few yards from the cottage and can take you to Penzance , St Ives, well loved by artists and the magic Minack theatre.

About the host
Hosted by Michelle ELLIS
We are the parents ( now retired ) of Senan, the fisherman, who welcomes our visitors to Ivy cottage. Ivy cottage is situated in the village of Sennen, a fishing harbour situated at the most westernly end of Cornwall.
Why they chose this property
My husband was born in Sennen Cove and he bought Ivy Cottage a few months before we got married.
We lived there for two years before moving to France . Our son was born in the cottage. We used to return to the cottage every year during the holidays to see the family , our friends and to go fighing , swimming , surfing etc.. Our son has always longed to go back and live there , and he does now.

What makes this property unique
Ivy Cottage is a typical granite cottage of the region, it is very old and has been renovated. It is cosy, people say they sleep well in Ivy cottage. There is room to cook and eat nice meals, relax in front of a long fire. Outside, a small lawn, flowers and beyond the moor, ships sail by. You can walk down to the harbour , the beautiful beaches( Whitesand and Gwenver) to the lovely secluded beach of Nanjizel and along the spectacular coastal paths. A few paces from the cottage, the famous old First and last inn, a few paces further, a little supermarket/post office, a farmers' market on Tuesday mornings. In fact, once there , no need to budge!
