About the Area
Nestled just 4 miles inside the southern entrance of Yosemite National Park is the charming and historic town of Wawona. Located at the base of Chilnualna Falls (the second-highest vertical drop waterfall in Yosemite), and home to the principal trailheads into the southern Yosemite wilderness, Wawona is also the closest town to the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. Wawona has the feel of a small town but is bustling with activity! Over 160 residents, including Yosemite Park employees, live in Wawona and can be seen gathering at the town's community center, playing a pickup game of basketball at the elementary school, jogging on one of the many picturesque trails, or simply walking their dogs and baby strollers through the winding residential streets. The historic Wawona Swinging Bridge boasts the best natural water slide in the Park! The historic village is filled with docents, stagecoach rides, horseback rides, and barn dances in the summer season and the Wawona Meadow Loop offers year round riparian meadow wildlife viewing. Wawona was known to the local Native American Miwok in their language as Pallachun (a good place to stay). It is located entirely within Yosemite National Park (it preceded the founding of the park as a national recreation area), and is located on the South fork of the wild and scenic Merced River, on the main highway (State Route 41) from Fresno to Yosemite Valley. Galen Clark, who helped gain preservation legislation for Mariposa Grove and what later became part of Yosemite National Park, occupied the Wawona area in 1855 and established a tourist rest and modest ranch which he later sold and made into a hotel and resort property (the Wawona Hotel). The Wawona post office was established in 1878 and was originally called Clark's Station. The Redwoods In Yosemite has over 120 vacation rental homes and is proud to say that all of them are located in Wawona. All are within walking distance of everything that Wawona has to offer and every one of them is surrounded by the majesty of Yosemite National Park!

Family Fun
We always enjoy ourselves at this cabin. From just relaxing in a chair next to the fireplace and reading a book to taking a walk/hike on the trails that are nearby. Just an hours drive from the valley and a half hour from Badger Ski Resort. If you are considering visiting/staying in the Yosemite area, this cabin is great lodging.

Awesome area and service!
After spending hours researching the Yosemite area and vacation rentals, I stumbled upon the Redwood rentals and I am so glad I did! The location is perfect! We stayed at 17B, Tyler's Timber and it was very comfortable. It was pretty clean (cobwebs by lights, candy wrappers on floor near the bed) but otherwise clean. The people at the Redwood rental office were very nice and helpful. Loved our stay!

Thank you for your review. we are glad you enjoyed your stay with us. And we hope to see you back again soon.
Overall nice property. Great time with friends. Quiet location on south side of park. A few small items that could be improved, driveway needs to be regraded, more bowls and storage containers needed, and hair dryer doesn’t blow hot.

We loved our 4 night stay at this cabin. Everything worked well and the kitchen was well stocked. There is only one bedroom on the main floor and all the rest of the rooms are downstairs. This was great for us to have the kids stay down stairs. We enjoyed using the fireplace every day. It was a cozy living room and the kitchen is a good size. We look forward to coming back.

Property was reported to health department for mouse droppings on pillow cases. On silverware in drawer. Live mouse caught in trap. Could hear mice active at night. Have photos to submit. All we wanted was to check out and not be charged for last day but they charged us anyway.
Cabin worked fine. However, at home we discovered that those who had slept in the lower East bedrooms were covered with bug bites. Bites in areas covered with clothing in the daytime and evening. Had to be bed bugs, not mosquitoes. This is a problem! Also, the cook top needs attention, which I reported.
Would not recommend this for anyone better off staying at a hotel that’s clean and has air condition
Was not very clean , you would think after paying all this money they have someone clean it before you get there but there was spider webs on all the windows and it was dusty and no air conditioning and no contact to the office
The layout is great, large open layout on the main floor, and separate areas that afford privacy. There are lots of doors opening to the wrap around deck. The only significant criticism is the sketchy stairs and handrail...not lit at night and the wood is very dried out. We were careful, but it would be easy to catch splinters.
Cabin was old. Pictures on website actually beter than actual cabin

Thank you for your review. I am sorry about the tub not working. I looked and did not see a report about this in your reservation, nor a work order made to repair the tub. We have 24/7 maintenance staff for these kinds of things. Had you reported it, a technician would have gladly come out and fix it.
If you would be so kind as to call us and tell us exactly the problem, that would be wonderful. We take pride in our cabins and would like to investigate and fix whatever problem there is with the tub.
Thank you again for your review.

Cabin was clean. Way too close to other cabins. Have stayed in other cabins in Wawona and while there was no great downsides to the cabin, I would want to try another cabin

17B tylers timber lodge, PERFECT!!!
This is 2nd time using REDWOOD cabins.. and our first time at unit 17B. I must say everything was perfect!! cabin was Extremely clean on check in.. There were a wide assortment of pots and pans for cooking, plenty of silverware, and cups etc. We would HIGHLY recommend this unit!! plenty of space, and lower floor, was very kool on the hot weekend we used it. Had a little issue with some noisy neighbors, but no fault of CABIN or REDWOOD rental service. Speaking of the rental service they were very attentive to how our stay was, and went out of their way to make sure all was just right!! Cabin is just like the advertisement states, no bait and switch.. truly lovely place! nice location.

Just OK with some issues
When we arrived we found the place was a bit dusty. Most of what we needed was present in the kitchen. Most of the appliances seemed to work but some still needed a bit of cleaning, such as the coffee maker that had a bunch of crud in the water tank. All the items mentioned in the description seemed to be present, but not all worked. For instance, the Jacuzzi tub was out of order and the thermostat control in the master bedroom upstairs did not work which led to a couple chilly nights. One thing to mention is that only the downstairs bathroom has a fan. That means that the bathroom off the kitchen has no fan, so if someone stinks up the bathroom you’ll want to make sure that door is closed and the window open.
The office seemed friendly and helpful enough. The outside of the place looks a bit more run down than the pictures represent. The stairs were a bit rickety and the deck looked like it hadn’t been cared for much recently.
The downstairs area inside of the house is a bit cramped and creepy feeling with the low ceilings and the deer head hanging over the couch. Additionally, when we first arrived we immediately noticed that one of the downstairs bedrooms on the ground floor had a door to the outside that was left ajar. That seemed a bit creepy to the individual staying in that room. Possibly this is also how the bat got into the house.
The first day we arrived, while my kids were watching tv, they started saying, “mommy daddy there’s a bird flying around”. We thought they must be imagining because we could never find a bird. Finally, on the last day one of us spotted a little brown round thing stuck to the wall of the cabin and it was a little bat that had been keeping us company the whole time, which was a little creepy for everyone.
The internet worked well, which was nice. Each room except for one has a tv in it (though we only used the one in the main living room). The grill worked well and we were able to grill some meat for dinner both nights. The area itself is basically forest and we saw a deer huddled under a porch when we arrived. It was obviously better than camping, but we would likely look for a better place for the money next time. We were looking for clean, warm, snug and comfortable, but we ended up getting dusty, creepy, and cold. Fortunately, the Yosemite sites were amazing. This was just a place to sleep and quickly leave each day.

Nice Family Getaway
We had a great time and were very comfortable in this cabin. The location is convenient if you are driving up from the south as we were. In the past I remember entering the park after the long drive from LA and thinking "yay we are here!" and then realizing we had to drive another hour to where we were staying. So being a few minutes inside the park was a big plus for me. The drive to Badger Pass was convenient (30 min), but a bit longer drive to Yosemite Valley (45 min+). There are also nearby hikes that are worthwhile. The house has a nice fireplace, large kitchen, and the kids even had a great time playing for hours in the back yard. It was easy to keep an eye on them from the wrap around deck. It was warm enough in March that we used the deck and the propane bbq grill. The bathrooms and kitchen could use some modern updates, but perhaps I am a bit picky on that front. 8 of us shared the house (4 adults and 4 six-year-olds) and we had enough room. Sofas were comfy, tv's had lots of channels and great picture. Dining room comfortably sat 8. The beds were comfortable and the towels were excellent. I really liked having a separate thermostat in each room since the living room was very warm from sun exposure and the fireplace and kitchen, while the bedrooms were colder. The two women that I dealt with in the office were incredibly nice and helpful. All around a very good choice if you want to stay inside the park.

Beautiful, comfortable cabin
We spent the weekend in Yosemite with our families following our small wedding in San Francisco and had a wonderful time. The cabin comfortably fit 8 of us, and we really enjoyed spending the evenings by the fireplace in the cozy living room and having homemade family meals at the large table, with beautiful redwoods outside the window. Couldn't have wished for a more relaxing weekend! The main tourist attractions (Glacier Point and Yosemite Valley) are perhaps ~40 min away, so we got to see both, but especially in the rainy and stormy weather the cabin was almost the highlight of the trip.
The only caveats were minor ones: no electric kettle and no good non-stick frying pan, which made breakfast pancakes a huge hassle/ impossible to make. We'll just bring our own griddle next time!
