Thank you, Bill for the wonderful stay in your thoughtfully finished house! We appreciated the reliable wifi and how complete the kitchen was, we had all the kitchen tools needed! It was perfect for our anniversary week away! We look forward to our next stay. Thanks again for everything!
I visited Lake Tahoe with my friends and stayed in this cabin. Its very nice cabin and very close to Tahoe. I will recommend everyone to stay at this cabin.
Very cute space and well stocked. Loved the little lakes and the peaceful setting. It lives up to the title Serene! Close enough to enjoy time at Donner and Tahoe lakes. Would love to come back and enjoy some skiing in the area :)
House was well equipped and organized. Location was for summer activities of swimming, boating, hiking and mountain bike riding. Nice to be able to communicate directly with the owner.

Nice!
Our family stayed here for 2 nights and had a blast! We went on little "adventures" around the area. The cabin was comfortable, pleasing to the eyes and clean! It was a great place to stay! The snow was sparse but still beautiful. We also went up to North Star and rollers skated. That was fun. It was so nice to be close to so many fun things. Thank you!
The cabin was clean, updated and spacious. Loved the heated floors in the bathroom. The fireplace was so warm and heated the whole place! Kitchen was recently updated with new appliances. No need to bring shampoo, conditioner, soap as it’s already there! Wireless chargers available in all bedrooms. Overall we loved the place and would love to rent again our next time in Truckee area.
We had a terrific time here. The cabin is furnished comfortably and attractively - it's both homey and updated. As well as quiet and perfectly located. We cooked, skiied, played games (Exploding Kittens comes with the property :) and slept. We will be back for sure!

4th of July getaway
We had a little summer hiking/biking retreat here to celebrate the impending wedding of an old college friend. The cabin is clean and well-appointed, and the open floor plan is great for groups. We had a great time grilling on the deck. The neighborhood is wonderful as well: away from the main Tahoe crowds, walking distance to the lake, trails out the back door. Will definitely return!
About the host
Hosted by Bill Davies
We are a hiking, paddleboarding, snowshoeing and downhill skiing family from Sacramento, California. Bill grew up in Los Angeles and worked on Sierra Club National Outings for 25+ years before having kids. Now he works for the state of California in Sacramento. Kathleen works in energy R&D for a large public utility. We have a couple of active kids and we spend more time at soccer tournaments than we might like to admit. So we are happy to share this great place in the mountains!
Why they chose this property
This is a wonderful place to stay with the woods and trails right outside the door. Just east of the cabin you can connect to the Forest Service section of the Royal Gorge trails - no pass required on this small section, but if you do get a Royal Gorge pass you can connect to their entire system without getting in your car. We're just 4 miles from all the Donner Summit ski areas (Sugar Bowl, Donner Summit, Soda Springs, Boreal, even closer to Royal Gorge) with daily snow plowing. Just a 1/4 mile to Serene Lakes - an easy walk. It's clean, well-insulated, big windows, and kid-friendly. Wood stove with lots of wood in the shed AND central gas heat as well - toasty warm!
What makes this property unique
We've kept the place clean and uncluttered intentionally - no excessive cabin kitsch! We like the wood stove that puts out LOTS of heat and makes you feel like you're camping. Also great are the slate floor, the high ceilings, the cozy L-shaped couch that the kids love to sleep on, the big windows in the front, both out to the deck and the upper ones above them. There are covers over the windows in the winter to prevent breakage from the snow build up, but the high upper windows (and the holes we drilled into the covers!) mean it is always bright inside. A great place to hang out day or night!
