About this property
Secluded ‘Barn' sleeps 4, updated with full-kitchen, 2-block walk to Downtown.
This charming old barn was recently updated and is now a very comfortable space for a family of 4, or anyone looking for a secluded environment only 2 blocks from Nevada City’s downtown.
Located on a wooded full-acre, the barn with features new stainless steel appliances; a large refrigerator and 4-burner gas stove, dishwasher, and new cabinetry and countertops. The flooring was recently updated, and the bathroom has a large stone-shower stall with glass doors and designer hardware. All new cookware, Restoration Hardware’s 600-threadcount bedding and towels, new flat-screen TV with Direct TV, and a wood-burning stove.
The barn is a two-room suite and features a large bedroom with a new queen-size Beautyrest mattress bed, and also a large comfortable queen-sized pullout couch in living room. There is off street parking onsite, very important as it’s nearly impossible to park in-town during all of Nevada City’s wildly popular events.

About the host
Hosted by Sasha Fluss
We are a San Francisco family who fell in love with Nevada City at first sight when dropping our oldest daughter to sleepaway camp on the Yuba River in July of 2013. We stumbled upon 534 Spring Street that weekend, with it's proximity being only a block behind Nevada City's Broad Street commercial district, and 6 miles from the unbelievably beautiful Yuba River, and we knew that this was somewhere we wanted to retreat from our busy city life in San Francisco.
Why they chose this property
The charm of this property is unparalleled. There is a real sense of privacy and seclusion as it's located on a full-acre with fruit and nut bearing trees, vast landscape and an incredible variety of trees and plant life....yet it's only a 5 minute walk to all of the city's awesome cafes and restaurants, theaters, nightlife, hikes, bike trails, and more. We love it!
What makes this property unique
Our entire property consists of a spacious 3-bedroom home with an additional 2-room in-law, a separate garden studio on the side of the house, and also a large 2-room barn on the rear of the lot. All 4 'compartments' of the property have separate entrances and are very different spaces, yet all updated with new flooring, Restoration Hardware linens, towels and cutlery. All new Beautyrest mattresses throughout the property in all bedrooms, and plush down and down-alternative pillows. Comfort abounds in every element of the property. We redesigned the home, barn, in-law, and garden-studio by blending the modern updates of today's style of living with an influx of locally sourced antiques and accessories, maintaining a regard for the property's eclectic and historical 'cabin-like' past, having been built in 1851 by two Irish brothers who 'struck it rich' in the early days of the 1849 Gold Rush.
