Very friendly hosts. The place is old but that is really the charm of it. Good kitchen and bathroom facilities. Overall a really pleasant place to stay!
Great property, set in lovely grounds with amazingly easy and close access to a beautiful beach. Our host was lovely and made us feel very welcome. Highly recommend.
Would certainly recommend staying at Eaglehurst. The annex is very spacious, well equipped and comfortable. Lots of woodland and beach walks on the door step. Thanks Marianne for letting us stay! Sarah
This period property has the attributes of times gone by, very quiet, hidden from the lifes noise and tucked away.
A private beach entrance, a place where history has been made and well known past occupants once lived.
There was a very famous guest, to find out you will have to visit.
Your host will love you to visit and if you go, you will wish to return.
A piece of old England frozen in time where the the sun shines, you feel the breeze, look out over the scenery and hear the birds sing.
You wont be disappointed if appreciated for what it is.
My mum and I stayed here to be near family and we absolutely loved this property. The apartment was beautifully decorated with a naval and historical theme and it was so spacious. We enjoyed roaming the walled garden and picking apples from the trees. The one minute stroll through the woods down to the beach was the highlight for me. The owners are so kind and were available by phone for anything. I really didn't want to leave! I will return!
Stunning secluded location down a long track road, short walk around the property to the beach through gate, despite us being there during a heatwave our private entrance to the beach made us feel like we were on our own private beach as it was empty! Lots of information provided about location and its history, and places to visit. We visited the calshot activity centre, which is perfect for kids or big kids like me! We had use of the tennis court at our leisure and rackets were provided. Can't fault the property or Marianne, will definitely be back for another family holiday, thanks very much!
Secluded and historic property for a quiet getaway in beautiful surroundings
We loved the property which has a rich history and is in lovely surroundings. Marianne was very welcoming and we enjoyed the gardens, tennis, and the beach. It was also very handy for Beaulieu. The main bedroom is stunning - if there was one very minor negative it would only be that the downstairs sofa bed pales in comparison, but it was still warm and cosy!
Very helpful owners that jumped in right away with electrical heaters when the Thermostate did not work. We had a great tour around the estate grounds and the kids loved the tenniscourt and finding the geocache situated near the shoreline.

Fabulous location and wonderful building
We stayed for 2 nights as a last minute break, which was much needed by all four of us. Blessed with great weather, we found the beach an absolute treat and enjoyed the tennis court and walled gardens. Marianne was a delightful host who recommended the East End Arms for a splendid evening meal and we were not disappointed. The property itself was interesting and well equipped with wonderful views.
Thank you for a most enjoyable stay!

Idyllic relaxing retreat for families (&pets!)
We arrived to be greeted by Marianne, our very welcoming host, who gave us a tour of the property and grounds. We’d booked a 2 night stay to give our kids a digital detox (they’re 9 & 12), and to give our 14 week old Labrador pup her first holiday. What a fabulous location! Gardens to explore (a lake for my eldest son who is nature mad to search for amphibians - and yes a toad visited each night), tennis courts - of which we made full use. A short path through woodland leads down to the beach (sand & shingle). Here our pup had her first glimpse of the sea (and a splash in it). The kids skimmed stones across the surf. The next morning we took the kids & dog to the Calshot Activity centre - under 10 min drive away. Here they scaled huge climbing walls and sped down a ski slope in rubber rings. The cafe there goes onto the beach (somewhere for the dog to play), so worked out well. We then visited nearby Beaulieau Motor museum & Abbey (dog friendly) - lots to see there and beautiful open spaces.
The accommodation was comfortable & quirky - castle turrets & an unusual shower. Main bedroom is very spacious has fantastic views. We enjoyed the Neals Yard toiletries and, from the kitchen, the good quality coffee all complimentary.
Marianne was very helpful with all our enquiries, recommending dog friendly pubs & restaurants. Marianne has 2 Labrador’s, one of which had just had pups. My sons were delighted to be invited in to Marianne’s house to see them. All in all, a fabulous accommodation and a very warm & welcoming place to visit. Will come again!

Beautiful location
There can be no doubt that having a beach running along the bottom of the garden makes this property a perfect location for a getaway. We did have an issue with ladybirds looking for somewhere to hibernate for the winter which was not the owners fault - just nature doing its thing - but none the less, it was rather off putting. The owners were very good and acted on the problem very quickly. I can't praise the maintenance man and his daughter highly enough for checking continuously that we were ok. The kitchen was not as well equipped as I would have liked but there was enough there to do the basics. The trek to the bathroom for middle of the night visits was also a bit of a bind. Overall (for us) the property was a little too big but we did have a very enjoyable time. It was lovely to watch the boats sailing the Solent of an evening and we were very lucky with the weather. I would like to thank the owners for their friendliness and fairness in giving us a small refund for the ladybird issue and also for leaving us gifts which did make us laugh. Just one thing - and it is very small. It is lovely to have tea and coffee in the cupboard to use but even better if a pint of milk was in the fridge to make that first cuppa. We enjoyed walking along the beach to Calshot where we looked at the castle. The activity centre had a good range of facilities and a good cafe. We also enjoyed revisiting Bucklers Hard (we originally visited there 25 years ago whilst on our honeymoon). Both Lyndhurst and Lymington are good towns to go for shopping and browsing. We also travelled to Ringwood to visit Liberty's Centre where we saw how passionate the staff were about the animals in their care. Travelling to Swanage for a Sunday dining train experience is also a very worthwhile experience which we both thoroughly enjoyed.

A beautiful and amazing place.
The property is exceptional! Beautiful architecture and surroundings and everything you need for a fabulous holiday by the sea. Very comfortable bedding and lounge furniture, amazing views and a perfect location. Exploring the garden and playing tennis are an added bonus. The owners are lovely and the property is very clean and tidy with many interesting features. The shower is great. We loved swimming in the sea at high tide, fishing and relaxing on the quiet beach watching the boats. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return in the future.

Exceptionnel

About the host

Why they chose this property
This historic building was build in and around 1789. Queen Victoria has visited a few times with Prince Albert and was very taken with the place. It is very quiet although in the summer months we have a chorus of birdsong starting in the early hours of the morning. Its a very private place which offers sea views from both upstairs bedroom and dining and drawing room downstairs.
What makes this property unique
Very quiet and you are surrounded by nature and tranquility.
