About this property

Clematis Cottage, Country Setting, 10 min walk to beach, Family Friendly.

Clematis Cottage is a 3 bedroom cottage providing self-catering accommodation for up to six guests. Downstairs the kitchen dining area and lounge are open plan, the lounge has patio doors opening out onto a decked patio area, with outdoor furniture, and looks out over the enclosed private garden with little tikes play area and children's play house. Upstairs are three bedrooms, one Master with king size bed, balcony and en-suite with walk in shower. There is a twin bedroom and the middle bedroom that can be either a single, twin, or single with cot. The family bathroom has a full size bath with shower over. There is ample parking in front of the cottage. If you do not wish to use, or bring, your car there is a bus stop within a couple of minutes walk. The Train also stops in Shanklin town which is roughly a fifteen minute walk. There is nearby cycle hire and plenty to keep you busy within walking distance. Clematis is child friendly, equipped with stair gates, high chair, travel cot, toys and bed guards if needed.
Clematis cottage is on the edge of Shanklin old Village. A great base to explore Shanklin and the Isle of Wight. Within just a few minutes you can be in the center of the Old Village, on the Beach, admiring the flora and fauna of the Chine, In the park, playing crazy golf, walking through the under cliff or relaxing with a cream tea, and so much more. No where is too far away on the Isle of Wight.

Ideal for the 2 of us adults. Clean and comfortable and peaceful (we live in London!). A great location for getting to other places - we didn't use the car much as we were close to bus stop. We loved the Chine and coastal walks. Also we found people very friendly.

The Best On The IOW

We would not look else where for another cottage this is the best Place by far the location is excellent the cottage is absolute five star can not fault it in any way and my wife and I have stayed in lots of cottages but this is by far the best . We have stayed in this place Three times and will do so again when we holiday on the I O W in the future.

Clematis Cottage - what a joy!

Lovely property in a wonderful location. We will most certainly be back in 2023 and hopefully Peter and Mandy will be happy to have us again. The property is in a great location, well stocked with all you need and the most comfy beds we’ve experienced in a holiday rental.

Everything you need

Really great stay, everything we needed as a family was provided. Toys and games for our 4 year old were great fun and the outdoor space was lovely. Seems like everything has been thought of, from big items for children such as a stair gate and cot available for smaller ones, to small touches like the child cutlery and nice range of books. The location is nice, a short walk to the town centre and close to a park and play area

Excellent stay

We had a lovely stay at the cottage in Shanklin. The cottage is bigger than it looks on the pictures, the lounge area is very spacious and ideal for families. The cottage was very clean and has been maintained to a good standard. The location was great you could walk into Shanklin and to the beaches. It was also a great location to visit other popular areas of the island. We all really enjoyed the stay and the communication with the property owners was excellent! We would definitely recommend staying here and would love to come again!

Home from home

The cottage was ideally located for all amenities in shanklin. The cottage had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Our 2 year old son loved the garden, we saw red squirrels and lots of Jay birds while we were here. The owners were always really prompt in responding to us. We really hope we can come back soon! We had a fantastic stay at Clematis cottage. The location was brilliant, a 10 minute walk into Shanklin. The cottage is very child friendly and has a lovely garden. Peter and Mandy were so helpful and left an Easter Egg for each of our sons which was such a lovely touch. We will definitely be coming back!

We were very impressed with the property and location. The owner’s direction to the property and the maps of the locality were the best we have received from our numerous holiday property visits. We really enjoyed the walking from the property. Locally there are plenty of places to walk, a substantial number of miles can be covered from the property without the need to travel. The surrounding area in parts is hilly which my be an issue for some but there is plenty of parking down by the sea front for those that either can’t or don’t like walking. Within 10 minutes walk, maximum, of the property their are numerous pubs, plenty of places to eat and the main town. Visit.

Perfect child friendly cottage close to beach

This was our first family holiday to Clematis cottage and it didn't disappoint. The cottage was perfectly equipped for our 18 month old son and was extremely clean. The cottage is within easy walking distance to the beach (either via steps or path) and there's a kids playground nearby too. We found the cottage to be very peaceful which is also a bonus when travelling away with children. We can highly recommend this as a perfect place to stay when looking for accommodation on the beautiful Isle of Wight

Lovely house, great location

This was our third stay at Clematis cottage and definitely won't be the last. The cottage is very spacious and as ever spotlessly clean. Within easy walking distance of the old village and beach (though on this occasion we drove as it was Winter!) Good WiFi as well.

Fantastic ... Cant Wait to stay again

All I can say is Fantastic... From Start to Finish Peter and Mandy where very helpful answering questions etc before we booked. The booking process was very straight forward, and Peter and Mandy send us lots of local information regarding the local shops the week before travel Our Stay at Clematis Cottage was perfect. The house has its own garden with lots outside toys and even its own playhouse. The house itself is very well equipped and has all things covered and the welcome pack and bottle of Bubbly was a lovely touch. The rooms are all very comfy and the kids even slept pass 6.30 which is a bonus on holiday. The location is lovely too up a quiet private road but only 5-10 min walk in to the main high street with lots of little shops, cafes and Pubs. The Chine is only 10mins down the road, which is lovely if you go in the evening as its all lit up. Also along the road is the steps to the beach ( can be hard work with little ones as there is a lots to go down) The location was fantastic to get to all the major Attractions on the island and is great base. We are hoping to return

“EXCELLENT PLACE TO STAY.” 5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 days ago for a stay in October 2016 If you are considering self catering holiday accommodation on the Isle of Wight, then look no further than Chestnut Mews. The booking process was simple and efficient, the cottage was first class in every way, so comfortable and very well appointed and the welcome pack we were greeted with on arrival was more than sufficient. The location is ideal, just outside of the old Village, private and peaceful and well situated for travel around the beautiful Island. We could not fault it. Many thanks to Peter and Mandy for a very enjoyable holiday.

Very enjoyable Holiday

We had a lovely stay at Clematis Cottage, the Cottage was very well equiped and clean and tidy.We were three generations staying and our 18th month Old Granddaughter loved the Garden and the toys provided. It is a lovely area with plenty to do for every age. The Cottage is near enough to walk into Shanklin, which has plenty of tea shops and restaurants to visit.The booking was easy and Peter was very helpful to deal with. We would certainly recommend to anyone to stay in these cottages, especially with young children.

Perfect!!!

These cottages are like home from home, very comfortable, with everything you need. It's in a great location, in a quiet part of Shanklin old village, but in good walking distance to the coastal paths, pubs and restaurants that does great choice of meals for every one. To me these are the best cottages in shanklin and I've been going to the Isle of Wight for many years. Love them!!!

“Beautiful, excellent, superb!”

This was our first family holiday with a 1 year and 4 year old. Clematis Cottage was above and beyond our expectations! It's cleanliness, how well it was equipped, from kitchen equipment to toys and DVDs for the children and the personal touches for the children and the adults. Advice, directions and history of the Island in the house pack was very perfectly detailed. It's location was perfect for accessing Shanklin and its beautiful beaches. We had a fantastic time on the IOW not forgetting to mention the weather was sun, sun and more sun! We will definitely be returning to the IOW in the future and most certainly will use Chestnut Mews again. Thank you Peter & Mandy giving us fond memories!

We have owned Clematis Cottage for ten years. We are both lucky enough to have be brought up on the Isle of Wight.
We chose Clematis Cottage for its great location, close to the beach, the old Village, parks and countryside, perfect for our family.
We have three children, one boy and two girls , they all love Shanklin and the beach and can't wait to stay in the cottage.
Being a close family all hands are on deck, our mums are a great help, we have lovely housekeepers and their families who also help, and a willing gardener who turns his hands to almost anything.
Knowing how much families have to take with them on holiday we have tried to think of everything so that all that needs to be had is a good time!
We really hope you love the cottage and The Isle of Wight as much as we do.

Why they chose this property

We already owned honeysuckle and Jasmine cottages and were finding it hard to book a week for ourselves, Clematis became available, it didn't take much thinking about! we love Shanklin and the old village, the cottages are in a great location, plenty to do near by and an equal distance from both of our parents, it has proved to be the right decision for us.

What makes this property unique

The garden and play area seem to be a real favorite with the children and so in turn their parents. Many guests make great friends with our other guests and return year after year. In the evenings its lovely to be able to walk into the old Village for a meal, and so close that the children don't complain! The beach also is roughly a ten minute walk away, not having to find a parking space makes it much easier, although it is up hill on the way back.
