It's really disappointing when guests don't feel able to give a five star review, which most have so far - we want all guests to have the best stay at the house! We've taken measures to make sure this happens. Pool problems are all sorted out now - one of the solar panels has been damaged and recently replaced. Between October and April, however, solar heating will only raise the pool temperature a couple of degrees to take the edge off the cold water. So although the pool is solar heated all year, we have taken this off the villa description so that guests' expectations aren't unrealistic. We would advise all guests to book electric heating to guarantee very warm water. We want guests to have a good night's seep so we've also asked the property manager to ensure that there are mattress protectors on all of the beds. The bed in the second master is a double bed, which is as described on the details.

Thank you very much for your comments and I'm very sorry for the problems you experienced with pool heating; we had undertaken a repair before your arrival, which the contractor did not complete properly. This impacted on temperature and cleanliness. Thankfully, we managed to sort it out for you during your stay so that you could enjoy the pool fully for the rest of your trip. Hopefully our full refund of your heating costs compensated you for this. I'm also sorry you had issues with the waste disposal and lightbulbs - this is the first time you raised these. We would urge all guests to tell us immediately if there are any repairs/replacements needed as if we don't know about them we can't sort them out. Your review has been shared with our property manager who can make sure everything is in order for future guests. I'm sorry that you experienced noise during your stay - this is very unusual as Emerald Island is a very quiet, peaceful resort, which was the main reason we bought there. I wish you had let me know about the problems during your stay so that we could have worked with the HOA to deal with them. It’s very disappointing that you felt the need to post such a negative review; we always do our best to make guests feel happy and comfortable in the villa (and you’ll see from other reviews that this has been the case!) and it’s a shame that this hasn’t been the best experience for you and we’re really sorry for that. Firstly, thanks for raising the issue of the chipped tile on the spa, which you did after checking out. Since we’ve been made aware of it, it’s now been sorted out. There are a few inaccuracies in your review that really need to be mentioned: We do not describe the beds as ‘queen beds’ anywhere on the advert. Not least because we use a UK-based site. Queen beds are much smaller in the UK than in the USA, which is why, to avoid confusion, we describe both master bed suites as having double beds. (In the UK, the double bed in the second master is actually larger than what would be described as a queen bed). The pool is solar heated, and a panel was damaged by a racoon a couple of days before the stay. (This is now mended – Florida sadly has wildlife which occasionally does get a little destructive!). However, in March solar heating alone is not enough to keep the pool warm – this is stated in the advert. The electric heating takes around 24-48 hours to fully heat the pool from cold, which is why it wasn’t warm enough initially. After this the pool heat was measured every day and was between 85-89 degrees. I’m sorry you felt the property manager wasn’t helpful as everyone usually comments on how nice Avril and Billy are – I’ve fed back the comments to them so that they’re aware that things could have been better. Finally, it is worth noting that the villa was only booked for two adults, not four, which might explain why all the beds weren’t fully prepared, and that on at least two occasions the property manager had sort out pool controls that had been tampered with (which probably didn’t help keep the temperature running as it should!) These controls were inside a locked cabinet, the lock on which had been popped and had to be replaced. We would always expect that guests respect our property and particularly don’t touch pool controls, which can be dangerous if mismanaged. It is a shame that the stay hasn’t worked out. We did provide a part refund to reflect this and hope that it helped.
