Irish Mist ~ Family Home, Gas Fireplace, Year-round Dock, Dog-Friendly!
Over the river and through the woods, to Irish Mist we go! Feeling nostalgic? Irish Mist is a classic riverfront Russian River vacation rental with original knotty pine interior, antique furnishings, a large sunny deck overlooking the river, and a private year-round river dock. This multi-level home features a downstairs living room with wood floors, high, open beam ceiling, and gas fireplace. A separate dining area offers river views and French doors leading to a homey kitchen. Sliding glass doors lead to a large river-facing deck.
Upstairs, there are 2 bedrooms and a full bathroom (bathtub/shower combination). Plus, a family room with large windows and a sofa bed for additional sleeping space faces the river. The downstairs living area includes a bedroom, full bath, kitchen, a separate dining room and a sunny deck. From the back deck, stairs lead to a private river dock - a great spot for sunbathing or swimming during summer months. Irish Mist is located one mile west of downtown Guerneville and is walking distance to two restaurants and a dog friendly public beach. Russian River Valley wineries and the Sonoma Coast (Bodega Bay and Jenner) are a short drive away!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The kitchen is stocked with everything you may need and the access to the river from the dock is wonderful. Great place to stay with family and pets.
Beautiful view of the river, great for barbeques. Not the greatest weather when we were there, but we just enjoyed hanging out there -- very comfortable

Thank you for the lovely review of Irish Mist! We are glad you enjoyed the home despite the weather
This cozy spot was lovely and had ample natural light and easy access to the river. Getting to the beach was just a short ten minute walk away, and we spemt the afternoon laid out next to the water.

Thank you for the lovely review! We are so glad you enjoyed Irish Mist and we'd love to have you back any time :)
We loved the closeness to the river and the quiet neighborhood. We enjoyed our 20 minute drive to the beach and walk to the river access for some swim. The town was not too slow and not too busy. We enjoyed our stay.

Hello Cua, Thank you for taking the time to review the stay. We're happy you enjoyed it! We would love to host you again :)
Loved the setting, it was gorgeous. The dogs loved the deck and the dock and the proximity to town was just right. Sort of like visiting an old friend in their very clean lived-in house. Hope to stay again in the future.

We had a great experience with the rental company, they tended to any need we had. The place is very nice and bonus it has a year round deck on the Russian River. Nice and quiet at night, very comfortable place to stay at. Highly recommended and we will see you next time !

Hello Lee, Thank you for being wonderful guests! We would love to host you again and are elated you enjoyed your stay.
The house was clean and we had excellent communication before check in and during our stay. It was an exceptionally warm weekend and the river access and dock were perfect! The water was low flow and many people were kayaking on the river already. Everyone went swimming and then hung out at the deck and later on the porch and bbq. Plenty of parking which was nice, and lots of room for my whole family.
Overall a great time and a lovely location.

Hello Sharon, Thank you for being wonderful guests! We would love to host you again and are elated you enjoyed your stay.
Only had 7 (including my wife and I) people for 4 days. 4 people for 4 days, and 3 people for 4 days. First time renting a house without any boats. Kids and guests missed boating. Winds cooled the house every afternoon, even when temps were in the 90's. Great neighbors next door. Papers say I have a lab. Yet 3 years old and still not going in the water, Hmmmm. Saw no blue algae this year. Saw an egret and a couple of blue heron. Great time to swim 6:30 - 7:30am. Peaceful and no sun for us skin cancer people.

Hello Edward, Thank you for your review and for being such a great repeat guest at Irish Mist. We are glad you enjoyed another stay :)
This was such a quaint property. Access to the dock via stairs and blow up toys were a plus we weren’t expecting! There was a slight maintenance issue, but after a quick call Brian showed up and fixed everything up so fast. He was so nice! Very personable and was so great ti chat with while he worked. I spoke with several ladies at the office (forgive me I can’t remember their names) but they were so great and I loved being here. Everything was clean and as described in the website. I did NOT bring my fur babies with me, but you’d never know pets were allowed(no smell or hair). The neighborhood was really nice. And quiet hours were honored by the whole street which was so nice. Would definitely reccomend if you’re bringing The whole family!!!!

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication
Not worth it
Grandmas furniture is not quaint, it is tired and worn out. The dishwasher barely worked, many important light bulbs were burned out and no replacements. Don’t get me started on the terrible shower downstairs, the dock is to high from the water to put our kayaks in from, the outlets are so old when you plug something in it just falls out-fire danger, it was just a huge expensive disappointment. Couldn’t wait to leave.

Really Comfortable!
Just completing our stay in this very comfortable and roomy home on the river. Lovely, wood living room with gas fireplace leads into a well equipped kitchen and dining area. Plenty of cooking utensils, dishes, pots and pans. We had no needs for the preparing of our Thanksgiving Meal! Great wrap around deck was dog secure, a real convenience since we had significant rain during our stay and the road infront of the property flooded making walking our pet a bit challenging! Plenty of sleeping space with upstairs and downstairs bedrooms well separated giving everyone some privacy as well. The upstairs sitting area has a lovely view of the river. If you like to dine out, Guerneville's main street is virtually one restaurant after another, something I would let the Chamber of Commerce know is not a great recipe for economic success! There was a couple of Recycled Clothing Stores, a stain glass showroom and a great 5-10 Cent store with a bit of everything for sale. I would honestly say Irish Mist is a lovely, comfortable home to stay in with excellent river access. We would definitely recommend it and would return to stay again.

Hi Sarah, Thank you for your lovely review of Irish Mist. I couldn't agree more, it really is a comfortable home! We hope to have you back again soon.
Ellen ~ Russian River Vacation Homes
This house was a great place for a large group of friends. Lots of sleeping options for doubles, singles, and couches. Plenty of different places to hang out, indoors and out. Everything was in working order with a decent sized kitchen and good washer/dryer. It wasn't fancy, which we liked (we don't need high end furnishings, fast wifi throughout, or trendy decor).
We particularly liked that the rear deck is a mix of sun and shade, with several tables, lounge chairs, and a good gas BBQ.
We received excellent communication from the host.
Because the water level was at its lowest in late September, it was a bit of a workout to get in & out of the water because the ladder up to the very nice, very high, dock was a foot above the water level. A few guests decided not to swim, because they were concerned they wouldn't be able to get out. Not a big issue for us, but something to think about if swimming or kayaking easily off the dock is a priority for you. There are plenty of other public beach put-ins nearby!
This is a very relaxed, flexible, comfortable accommodation and we will definitely be back.

Hello Jennifer, Thank you for the glowing review! We are so glad everyone enjoyed the stay at Irish Mist! The dock and the boats are seasonal amenities, the dock at this house is permanent and we advise guests to get in the water at their own discretion. We are happy to help and thank you for being such fantastic guests, you are welcome back any time :)
We have stayed at this house before. It's a great location, and very comfortable. This time the house was beginning to be in disrepair. It is still functional and comfy (the beds are super comfortable). But...outlets not working, dishwasher not working, ripped screen, dingy/chipped paint, one door had a hinge off it, carpet stains...that kind of thing. It just doesn't look like it's been maintained. We still had a great time, but hopefully someone can put some LOVE back into this house! Regardless of all those details, it's still an amazing location. You sit out on the deck, and just enjoy peacefulness of the river. And the dock is great - right at a deep part so you can do cannonballs off the dock. And we always rent kayaks and have them delivered. We all had a great time at this house!

Relaxing Sister Weekend was a success with this view
Relaxing Sister Weekend was a success with this view and the quiet of the area. The deck was amazing for coffee and reading each morning and wine and conversation each night. The one thing we noticed was each flooring change on the 1st floor also had a height change by an inch or sometime two which tripped us up at the beginning of our stay, bathroom to hall, living room to kitchen - a bit odd.

Beautiful home on the river
It was everything we were looking for! Beautiful fireplace and great room that was fantastic for sitting and watching Netflix while chatting. Nice, big dining table that accommodated all of us perfectly. Big deck with gates. River was too high and fast for floating, but it gets sun on the deck and was nice for drinking coffee. A bit hard to find later at night, but it worked out. Bring extra blankets because it gets cold and we couldn't find too many extras! Comfy beds, Lots of extra pillows, though, and a great selection of magazines and games. Wifi was good. Close to town and activities in the Russian River area.
Cons:
- no sponge or scrubby for handwashing dishes - had to use paper towel for scrubbing.
- ants (only on first floor?); but it's in the woods, so this is to be expected.
- AT&T cell service was spotty, so if you *need* to use phone, make sure it's Verizon or Sprint.
Would definitely visit here again!

Thank you for the review! We, and future guests, really appreciate the shared info and feedback! We're sorry to hear about the missing sponge. There should be a brand new one for every set of guests. Sometimes under the sink or in a drawer, but we'd have run one over to you if we'd known. And, yes, ants certainly can happen - especially in the rainy months. We try to keep them at bay with kid and pet-friendly products, but it can be a challenge. We hope to see you again soon!

PS - There's also a landline at the house in case you don't have cell service.

We had a relaxing time.
Irish Mist is a spacious home with good amenities. I have previously noted that the upper deck needs another gate to make it truly "dog friendly." I had to use the trash cans to close the open area so that my dog would be corralled. Also, the living room needs more lighting. It is pretty dark. These are minor complaints. We liked the place very much.

Our family loved the house
Irish Mist is a place we'd love to return to. Having met the owners who are wonderful, we were eager to spend some multi-generational time there late July. The house is spacious, allowing for everyone to both be together and have time alone. We enjoyed the sunny deck, as well as the gas fireplace for cool mornings and evenings. Being able to have pets was also a plus. While there are many stairs to get down to the large permanent dock, they are sturdy with railings and worth the steps to get to the river where there is also a small beach directly on the opposite shore. The newer upstairs area was also useful for families having an open room with a window wall facing the river, and two bedrooms (one with 2 twin beds which we needed) and a bath. The street is quiet and only a mile from the town of Guerneville.

Girl's Weekend
Went with some girlfriends for a quiet weekend away. Had everything we needed and was very comfortable. Plenty of room for hanging out as a group in or out doors and lounging around. Also visited Korbel and some wineries, enjoyed a scenic drive, and did a little shopping with a moderate drive.

Great family get away
For the past few years my family and I have rented the Irish mist for my mothers birthday. Its spacious, so you don't feel so on top of one another which is nice with a large group. Even though it spacious and roomy, its tall wood ceilings, cute quaint dining room, and big cozy fireplace, make it feel like your home away from home! I have written it in the guest book, and I'll write it here, if you ever sale the Irish mist please contact Dave and Jacqueline Lopez from Windsor ca. You can call the rental company and get our info! :•) A+++ we love this place!

About the host
Hosted by Russian River Vacation Homes
We are Russian River Vacation Homes, a part of D&G Equity Management, Inc., a family owned and locally owned/operated property management company.
Our Story: In 1980, D&G founders and owners Michael and Patty saw a need in the area for habitable, affordable housing. At that time, many of the little cabins along the Russian River, originally built as summer cabins, were unsuitable for year-round occupancy. D&G assisted property owners with fixing up and renting their cabins. As the largest property management company in western Sonoma County, D&G Equity Management continues to be a staple in the Russian River community.
Russian River Vacation Homes is an off-shoot of D&G. One fine day in 1985, Michael's client, Bob, asked "Hey Mike, can you rent my cabin out just for the week or weekend instead of by the month?" Michael said "Sure!" and Russian River Vacation Homes was born. As renting vacation rentals became more popular, Russian River Vacation Homes grew into a full-time business with its own office. Today, Russian River Vacation Homes professionally manages over 60 high-quality vacation rentals.
We strive to make each and every stay the best one ever. If you have any questions or concerns about reserving or staying with us, please don't hesitate to contact us! We are here to help.
Why they chose this property
