Lovely home for a family and friends vacation

We enjoyed our stay- perfect for a large group, including an infant and 2 children. Everyone enjoyed the pool and the upper terrace for breakfast and dinner. Well located and spectacular views. Line and Bruno were very communicative and prone to respond quickly.

This is a good place to stay if you value some peace and quiet. It is secluded in woodland, and there is very little traffic on the nearby road. The grounds are extensive but for the most part overgrown and inaccessible to all but the intrepid. The pool area layout is excellent and probably the best thing about the property, we spent lots of time down there. The pool itself is very well-maintained and a pleasure to swim in, day or night.The house has character and has been furnished in a quirky way with some interesting antique-style objects, which might not be to everyone's taste. There are hundreds of books but almost all are in French. Rooms are large and the furnishings comfortable. The kitchen is well-equipped but we were surprised not to find a more modern corkscrew, it being France.The nearby town of Montignac was a pleasant surprise, the old parts being very attractive. There is a good range of restaurants, encouraging us to eat out every night.All in all, we enjoyed our stay here.

A paradise in the Dordogne!

When we arrived at the villa we were impressed. The house offers everything you could wish. The description of the house and the inventory is very precise. The swimming pool is excellent. Everything is in good working order and the owners are very friendly and responsive to keep it that way. Plenty of room for our family of 12 people, covering 3 generations. We all want to come back here!

On the second night a thunderstorm brought part of the roof down. We had to move two of our beds into the kitchen and the falling in roof was covered outside by a plastic sheet. The dishwasher in the upper building did not work so we took the plates up and down to the dishwasher next to the pool. The property is lovely but could do with some renovations.

Great week

Had a lovely time. House spacious and interesting. Only criticisms are it could do with 2 or 3 fans as we were very hot at night particularly in the rooms by the pool. Some of the outdoor furniture was looking a little tired and needed a refresh. Other than that it was great. Domestic lady who greeted us was lovely despite having her work cut out cleaning such a big house on her own. All in all a great week.

Delightful Location in Characterful House

The house is beautifully situated and the layout with the terraces, outdoor dining table and pool area worked perfectly for our group of 5 adults. We found all we needed in the kitchen for dining in - plentiful fridge space and super Smeg cooker. The bedrooms and living spaces are full of quirky antique furniture and books everywhere (which we loved). The Wifi in the main house was strong.The reason for 4* is that the bathroom in the main house is intended to serve 3 bedrooms, so that could feel tight if there were more guests and the top floors creak so much that anyone going to the loo in the night is in danger of waking up everyone else. Obviously, not a problem for some but it was for us. Finally, we were at the house in the week of the heatwave and the bedrooms were very hard to cool down, despite the two excellent fans: we could have done with a fan in each bedroom and would suggest anti-insect mesh in the windows so that the windows could be kept safely open at night. All in all we had a wonderful stay and were delighted by the local area.

Dream come true

This was a holiday we had planned during covid, all about friends getting together again after a long time apart. The house was perfect, comfortable, so well stocked for a large group with different ages of kids, and a sensational pool and view of the forest! We loved visiting local village for dinner, canoeing, caves etc - but the best times of all were sat around the house together taking in the silence! Enough spaces to do our own thing, whilst also being able to easily come together for meals and hangouts. This place is everything we could have hoped for and more. Unreal!

A wonderful place to calm down

We had a comfortable, cosy and inspiring stay at this wonderful house. My daughter, my son and me had a real close and warm time. In such a perfect atmosphere built up with love for every detail there is no place for any bad feelings. I had to leave my bed every morning at 06.15h to see the sunrise. I needed a property for a group of 10 adults to act as a base to tour the PĂ©rigord Noir region. It was in a good quiet location and had a pool which was a requirement. Sadly, the house and outbuildings are in a state of decline. We experienced frequent sewage smells, poor plumbing with insufficient hot water and flooding showers.The kitchen was unhygenic with mouse droppings in drawers, on crockery and in cupboards. As our stay was quite short we chose to eat out. The owners could fix these problems over a winter season. The property is let down by poor maintenance.

House need and urgent renovation

Area is super, very nice 'base camp' for trips in the area. The house urgently need to be renovated. Lot's of lights were not working, no closets for clothes in the bedrooms, most of the sunbeds needed to be replaced, sun umbrella needed to be fixed, we tried to temperarly fix them with tolson tapes. Beside the accidental meeting with the cleaning lady, we didn't see anyone... only the pool boy past bye 2 x early in the morning. Cleaning lady was on her own and was just not able to properly clean the house. Many of our guests were cleaning their rooms themselves. We had a room with a fire place and a dusty bookshelf. On the floor there was still a handkerchief of one of the earlier guests. No change of towels for 14 days. On the other hand.. we had an issue with the coffee machine and the BBQ and after contacting the owner these were fixed same day.

Would not recommend, which is a shame as has real potential

Pool was the only gem, general house would benefit from some general maintenance and better cleaning. There is no cleaning kit available to clean during stay. Kitchen has ant problem and most rooms have hairy caterpillar problems.Two double and one twin room in the main house share a bathroom. There is a further bathroom near the kitchen. The annex has en-suite bedrooms, one upper double with terrace and a lower level double and twin rooms. However the lower bedrooms smell musty with damp issues which seriously need to be addressed and were plagued with bug problems, (THEY SHOULD NOT BE USED UNTIL ISSUES ADDRESSED). The other is aware as there is a dehumidifier in the twin room which has to be emptied every day. Their upper bedroom, bathroom fans do not work and is causing mould. The terrace has over grown vines and ivy, and very slippy when wet.The garden is over grown plants on steps leading down to the pool with no handrail. Some patio furniture is in a poor condition, a chair leg gave way and our daughter was lucky not to have been seriously injured.I am sad to have written such bad feedback but the property is in a remote location and could be amazing with some general maintenance but is not in a standard other French holiday homes in which we have stayed and for that reason we would not recommend.

Delightful!

Just back from a weeks stay in this delightful property, a trip originally conceived for my 60th Birthday which turned out to be at the height of the Covid pandemic. I must firstly sincerely thank Line and Bruno for their flexibility and patience with us in allowing us to rebook not once but twice. Covid brought a degree of anxiety to travel but Line was quick to communicate and supportive. We finally made it! 🙏 The property itself is charming with an older main house with spacious living and a well equpped kitchen area, an outside courtyard with a BBQ, al fresco dining table and stunning views. The lower building houses three bedrooms, one of which, poolside, has fridge and cooking facilities. Cold drinks poolside hurrah! Our party encompassed an age range from 86 to 21. Slight mobility issue for my mother up and down the steps to the pool but we took our time and managed. Everyone had a wonderfully relaxing time. The pool was balmy, grounds extensive and secluded. The property is a little remote but that was the joy of it and there is lots to see and do locally. We enjoyed Montignac, Lascaux, Canoeing on the Rive and simply being together in the charming property. Book with confidence and I hope you enjoy as much as we did.

Wonderful holiday property, would recommend without hesitation.

We have just enjoyed a week at the property. Line and Bruno were very prompt with their communication when we were booking. Our party consisted of myself (50) and my parents (both 77). We chose a larger house so that we would have a choice of rooms and our own space when we wanted it. The house is absolutely charming, decorated with unique furniture and art which gave the house the feel of a real home.. The kitchen facilities were very good and there were plenty of pots and pans for even the largest of groups. The main house has a wonderful large reception room with vaulted ceiling and three large comfortable sofas. My parents occupied the main house whilst I stayed in the building poolside. The views from everywhere were wonderful and we really appreciated being in such a peaceful location. The beds were comfortable and the towels plentiful. Neither of my parents used the swimming pool, but I did have a splash around on a couple of occasions. The water was a perfect temperature and the pool itself was nice and clean. Im sure a family with children would love it, and with the poolside kitchen it’s possible to stay on this terrace all day if you wish. The house is located in a great area surrounded by the most beautiful countryside. We were able to take morning trips to various chateaux and gardens all within about 10-40 minutes drive. Although the house is in a rural location, it’s only about 5 miles from beautiful Montignac, where we found the bakery and the supermarchĂ©.. In summary, we had a fantastic week in the house and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an inviting and very comfortable place to stay. We only wish we could have stayed longer.

Nous avons dĂ©couvert quelques petits dĂ©fauts qui font le charme des vieilles maisons.La grande piscine chauffĂ©e a Ă©tĂ© trĂšs utilisĂ©e et naturellement fort apprĂ©ciĂ©e. C’est un vrai plus pour un sĂ©jour et nous remercions les propriĂ©taires pour un tel investissement ainsi que l’équipement du piano en cuisine. Nous avons cuisinĂ© avec beaucoup de facilitĂ©.Cette maison est Ă  recommander pour les familles qui aiment Ă  se retrouver Ă  plusieurs gĂ©nĂ©rations et qui aiment la tranquillitĂ©, loin des villes.Les sites touristiques importants sont assez proches et la description donnĂ©e Ă©tait tout Ă  fait conforme Ă  la rĂ©alitĂ©. Das Haus von Familie Steinmann liegt traumhaft einsam. Es ist ein wunderschönes altes Haus, das sehr liebevoll und aufwendig eingerichtet ist. Die ganze Anlage ist sehr gepflegt, vor allem der Swimmigpool-Bereich mit Liegen, Sonnenschirmen und AußenkĂŒche ließen keine WĂŒnsche offen. Die riesige Terrasse im oberen Bereich des Anwesens verfĂŒgt ĂŒber einen tollen Essplatz mit großen Sonnenschirmen und viel Platz zum Spielen (z.B. Wikinger-Schach mit großen Gruppen). Der Ausblick in das PĂ©rigord ist traumhaft. Das Haus verfĂŒgt ĂŒber sechs Schlafzimmer, die auf zwei GebĂ€ude verteilt sind. Das eine Schlafzimmer roch etwas muffig, aber da wir nur zu neunt waren, war das kein Problem. Die KĂŒche ist sehr gut ausgestattet. Wir haben fĂŒr neun Personen gekocht - Töpfe und Pfannen sowie Geschirr waren in ausreichender GrĂ¶ĂŸe und Anzahl vorhanden. Wir haben mit der Familie wunderschöne Tage in dem Haus verlebt und können dieses nur empfehlen. Sehr angenehm war die Kommunikation mit den Gastgebern, die stets sehr zĂŒgig geantwortet haben.

TrĂšs belle propriĂ©tĂ© pleine de charme, nichĂ©e dans un environnement calme et luxuriant. Les deux points forts sont la piscine, grande et bien entretenue et une cuisine particuliĂšrement bien Ă©quipĂ©e. Quelques bĂ©mols qu’on peut attribuer au charme de l’ancien, mais rien qui nous fasse regretter d’avoir passĂ© une semaine avec notre famille qui des plus grands aux plus petits se sont rĂ©galĂ©s de ces bons moments.
