The cottage provided the peaceful getaway we wanted. The location was convenient to town and the accommodations were excellent. Nancy was an excellent host. We plan on returning.
We had such a wonderful stay! The cottage had everything we needed, and the hot tub was an absolute delight. Nancy had a wonderfully thorough guest book and everything was very clear! I'd love to return. A perfect weekend!
The surroundings of the college were beautiful! The hot tub was private and a wonderful addition to the serene location. The host was absolutely gracious. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. If we return to Point Reyes we will be staying here again! Thank you for everything!

A lovely, relaxing visit during a gloomy, gray four days.
What a wonderful, quiet, and relaxing place. We saw 2 owls leave the tree while we were in the hot tub last night. Pretty cool. We got lucky with weather. It was gorgeous. Thank you!
Sweet property just a few minutes walk from a quaint fun town. Complete kitchen, comfortable bed, great hot tub!Very pretty garden and parking on premises,
We’ve stayed here before. When visiting the Pt. Reyes area we always return here, because the cottage is quiet, peaceful, always very clean, comfortable, and Nancy is very welcoming. We visited this time for our anniversary, and even though the weather was rainy, had a restful mini-vacation and lovely dinner in Pt. Reyes Station. I’m sure we’ll return again.
The cottage was lovely. Nanci provided thoughtful extras like coffee and clean towels halfway through our four night stay which made it extra nice. The cottage was spotless and she left clear instructions re wifi and the hot tub. Overall it was a great stay and we would highly recommend Nanci’s cottage!
Our trip to Point Reyes is enhanced by staying at this quiet, close, and comfortable home. The hot tub is also a great amenity.

About the host
Hosted by Nancy Kain
Owners have lived in and loved the Point Reyes National Seashore area for 38 years, and continue to marvel at the extraordinary beauty, wildlife, ocean, bay and forest. We have lived on the property in the other dwelling for 25 years. We enjoy the interesting rural, agricultural, fishing and artistic community and people who make up the area of West Marin. We commute to our jobs each day. We completed construction of the new house in January, 2015. We think we live in Paradise, so we want to share this feeling with others.
Why they chose this property
We purchased this property because of the lifestyle required to live in a wilderness area, and being 40 miles from metropolitan San Francisco. Not exactly 'off the grid', but similar - stacking wood and making fires for heat; gardening and growing our own food and eggs; playing and working outdoors; home made cooking vs fast food; sharing life's joys and burdens with close friends and neighbors; loving the libraries and live theatre, music, and dance. We love outdoor adventure and wilderness and wanted to raise our children in the sheer spiritual dimensions of this wilderness area and the hard work and creativity required to live here. And then there's the Point Reyes National Seashore: ocean, bay, lagoon, estero, forests, meadows, beaches, wild life, birds, creeks, rivers, trails. We moved here because we spent every weekend here when we lived in Oakland and SF. The rolling green hills with cows grazing fall gently into the creeks and radically become cliffs over the ocean. Either place the sunshine sparkles on the water before it dramatically sets. The gentle breezes relax our whole being along with the exquisite beauty. Prior to living here, we travelled here to visit the pristine beaches, the famous Point Reyes Lighthouse, hike and bike through Bear Valley and to explore Tomales Bay. The new house we built is pristinely clean and new, with all new furniture and appliances, a beautiful and comfortable spot to spend your weekend or week. You have total privacy with your own sparkling new hot tub. It's a lovely place with lovely surrounds, and close to all outdoor adventures and secret getaways.
What makes this property unique
We fell in love with this property because it was close to downtown Point Reyes, but absolutely quiet and peaceful and near the National Seashore. It was a half acre of grass and wild blackberries, and still is in many ways. The seasonal pond is long gone, but still the ducks and birds fly around the yard as if they remember, many generations later! We love the full sun AND wind protection, allowing us to enjoy the outdoors year-round, and the stunning views of the Inverness Ridge and Tomales Bay at the end of our road. The "back path" is our private short cut to downtown, walking next to Tomasini Creek. (Just come out of the cottage gate and turn left down the street. Follow the road down to the end where it swings left and go to the end of the cul-de-sac where there is a low, green utility box with an antler on it showing the “trail.” ) The front porch views of gardens, trees, and the ridge, along with the black and starry night sky or watching the winter storms roll in are experiences that will ease your mind and enliven your senses. Having the comforts of WIFI will keep you connected while finding yourself in the beauty of a small village.
