Everything was excellent, nice comfortable accommodation with all the facilities as described and in good condition, hosts were attentive and a nice village. We had a long stay for business reasons and it worked very well.
My partner and Ioved staying here for our first little getaway together. It had everything we needed to be comfortable and cook dinner, the WiFi was good enough for us to watch Disney+ and it was closed to Cambridge park and ride for a day out.
Would recommend and stay again.

We're really please you had such a good stay! Thanks very much for the review.
Not what I initially expected as the white barn is very close to the hosts home. however, the off road parking area was a good size, accommodation was lovely inside and there was a delightful private garden with patio area. The hosts were available if needed and had thought of just about every eventuality as the white barn was well equipped with everything we might need. It was a lovely place to stay. We were visiting family but there was plenty of information about local services and places of interest
Thanks very much for your review. We're really glad you enjoyed your stay. We have just had our old gravel driveway replaced with a proper drive. There's no plenty of room and it's easy to manoeuvre and drive on and off.
The White Barn is compact & comfortable. It is in a good location for exploring Cambridgeshire & Lincolnshire, & ideal for a weekend break. A bigger television would have been appreciated, & a storage food cupboard.cupboard
The barn was in excellent condition and extremely well stocked with everything you need. Small but pretty courtyard garden. On a main road but no problem with traffic noise at night. Overall highly recommend.
The White Barn is excellent. We are always a little anxious when booking a new place to stay but once we entered The White Barn all concerns disappeared. It is absolutely wonderful. Every aspect of a stay has been thought through from on-site parking to milk in the 'fridge. The White Barn is on our list for a return visit when next in the area.
It was such fun being in a light and airy living space - especially when the weather was warm and sunny and we could open the big doors onto the patio and sit in the small secluded garden - we managed to eat out all our meals out here for several days and enjoyed using our bird song identification app as we listened to a multitude of birds in the surrounding area. The village has a beautiful common and some nice walks to explore too. A relaxed stay all round.

Thanks very much for a great review. We're really glad you had a good stay. The Barn garden is surrounded by lots of other gardens and then the Church yard and Village Green beyond, so it is a good place for birds!
The White Barn is a perfect little hideaway for two.
We arrived in the afternoon and found everthing well prepared.
Claire gave us a warm welcome and hints for local supermarket and restaurants as well as places to visit.
We had a wonderfull time and would love to come back.
BTW: The pub nearby is very good but not open for dinner on monday.

We’re so glad you had a great stay. And it’s good to have a thumbs ups for our local, The Prince of Wales!
Claire’s White Barn was beautifully presented and exactly as shown online. Very private, clean and homey feeling. Host provided additional bedding when requested and nothing was any trouble. We were able to check in earlier than planned and leave later than needed. Very accommodating of the hosts. Enjoyed the peace, and not too far from amenities. Lovely stay

Just a perfect, romantic cottage
Everything about this cottage was just perfect. Claire could not have been a more perfect hostess. There was a everything you could want in the cottage. The bed was a little too comfy, which made it hard to leave, but when your on holiday who wants to get up early. 😊 I would recommend this cottage to anyone and everyone

We are aware that some furniture in the Barn is looking a little tired and are currently in the process of updating it. A new sofa is arriving tomorrow and we have scheduled a week in October for a more major overhaul. We've made direct contact to find out how, specifically, cleaning could be improved as we pride ourselves on our high standards and strive to maintain them.

The owner is really helpful and responsive and the barn is in a great location in terms of getting around a lot of historic and natural attractions. Parking is difficult and does need a lot of care as the property fronts straight on to a busy road (note: picture with patio doors is rear of property). This means it's very noisy at all hours so be prepared for that. There is quite limited cooking space so you will have to be creative there and likewise very few places to store food (the fridge is big though). Overall I think we must have been a little unlucky re cleaning; there were some dead flies etc and some unwashed crockery and utensils. I would agree with other visitors who have suggested a refresh may be due. All of which said we had a good trip so thanks.

Thanks very much for your review. We're addressing some of the points you have raised. We now have permission from our neighbour to cut back the hedge which is limiting the view on leaving the drive. We should be able to do this in the next week. Re the dead fly, I'm afraid this is in the nature of building. No matter how much we hoover, clean and mop, as the sitting area has a very high apex (part of the lightness of the room!) there will always be a fly or two at the top. We can close the door on a clean barn and then a fly will die and plummet to the ground! We've looked at storage for groceries and realised that the two cupboards over the sink were getting full with guests leaving, sometimes helpfully, food, oils, spices etc. We've now cleared all of these away so the cupboards are available. We're looking to swap the smaller bookcase for a dresser. We have a refurb week booked in in October to replace curtains, wardrobe etc.
About the host
Hosted by Claire Walsh
I am Claire, and I run the White Barn along with my husband, Cameron. We have a thirteen year old daughter Kara and we live next door to the Barn. We're on hand to help you with anything you need, but the White Barn is entirely self contained with its own garden and separate entrance from the driveway, so you will have complete privacy. I work as a university lecturer in Cambridge and my husband works for local government while Kara attends the local secondary school. The barn was in a rather dilapidated state when we moved here, so we refurbished it to our own design in 2006 and have really enjoyed having visitors who can enjoy its special character and the charm of Hilton village.
Why they chose this property
I grew up in the Fens, and my mother still lives in Lincolnshire and my brother lives nearby in Cambridge, so this area has been home to me all my life. It's a great region to live and work, with plenty to do. The best aspect for us as a family is that we can enjoy village life out in the countryside, yet have access to the theatres, shops and museums in Cambridge in under 20 minutes. Hilton is a beautiful village with some lovely historic houses, an extensive green and a common which is great for walks, and of course it has its famous turf maze. Hilton has a great community spirit with a Feast week in early July every year with marquee on the green and plenty of entertainments. It's great to see children of all ages running round the maze.
What makes this property unique
The White Barn has great character - its best feature is the high, angled ceiling supported by beams and the large windows covering the whole of the wall to the garden. Everyone loves the amount of light that comes in, while at the same time, the Barn feels cosy and comforting. It's an old-fashioned weather-boarded barn on the outside, but has all the benefits of being a new-build on the inside. It's location also has dual benefits - you can enjoy village life, the countryside and the rich history around Hilton but also visit the vibrant and historic city of Cambridge in only a few minutes.
