About this property
Chiesetta: an intimate villa in the mountains of the Garfagnana, Tuscany
The unique privacy of Chiesetta, protected by the intimate hills of the Garfagnana creates a perfect holiday destination for those looking to spend quality time in a peaceful rustic villa, cool off in a swimming pool after a day in the sun, walk through charming medieval hilltop towns, hike through mountains and enjoy accessing all parts of the province of Lucca.
Chiesetta is located on a hill just outside the charming medieval town of Barga. There is an acre of land surrounding the property which encompasses: an array of terraced olive groves, a 5x11m swimming pool perched at the top of the hill and a patio area for dining outside.
Chiesetta is comprised of two houses. The main house, which contains the kitchen and the main living room, has two bedrooms with double beds, one bedroom with two single beds and a bathroom. The little house consists of a communal area with a sofa bed, bathroom, and a large room upstairs containing two single beds and a double sofa bed.
You'll have full access to the main house, the little house (if it is a group of more than 6 people), the entire garden, the swimming pool and the laundry room.
Although not far from Barga, to reach Chiesetta by foot is a steep 25 minute walk up hill, meaning I would highly suggest hiring a car for convenience. A car would allow you to travel with ease to all areas and towns within the Garfagnana valley and beyond; additionally Chiesetta is 45 minutes from Lucca, 1 h 30 minutes from Viareggio and Pisa, 2 hours from Florence and around 2 h 30 minutes from Bologna. The ski resort Abetone is also only 1 h 35 minutes (65km) away making day trips during the winter possible from the house.
There are buses that run daily from Barga to other towns in the region including Lucca, bus timetables and information can be provided. The closest train stations are in Gallicano and Fornaci di Barga and also serve other towns in the Garfagnana valley and Lucca.
Some nights you may want to walk into town along the old medieval road instead of driving, if you feel like the walk back home is a hassle there are a number of taxi services that can bring you back to Chiesetta, the price from the centre to Chiesetta is usually €10.

Located in Barga, this villa is in a rural area and in the mountains.
