About this property

Stunning views of Snowdonia Mountains

Relax from the moment you walk through the door. This beautiful traditional Welsh Cottage is perfect to enjoy with family or small groups of friends. Close to Snowdon, Yr Wyddfa, the highest Mountain in Wales and Eryri Snowdonia National Park. In a quiet location on the edge of a small village with a pub and shop near Caernarfon and central to North Wales, Eryri Snowdonia Park, Zip World and Anglesey. Our beautiful Welsh cottage has amazing mountain views of Eryri Snowdonia National Park for you and your family to enjoy (dogs welcome too). Relax with a wood burner, underfloor heating and a large well equipped kitchen, private garden & BBQ.
It's only a short walk to the Welsh Highland Railway and a pub that serves food.
The nearest beach is a 10 minute drive away and we are close to Llanberis, Anglesey and Zipworld.

The cottage is located down a no-through lane and enjoys spectacular views of Mynydd Mawr and Moel Elio from the house, garden and woodland. Outside the cottage has a good sized private garden, parking for up to 4 cars. Closest to the house, across the lane, is a seating area with fire pit that takes in the views and woodland, perfectly placed for enjoying the sun rise or relax with a glass and watch the embers of the fire in the fading evening light. There is a large lockable storage shed for bikes available solely for guests.

The cottage starts with a heated enclosed entrance porch which is ideal for storing and drying out boots and outdoor coats. The house is predominately on one level with only three steps down into the kitchen, unless you venture up into the crog loft! The cottage has both a snug and living room, benefiting from under floor heating, with a wood burner in the living room. Both rooms have 40" flat screen TVs with Netflix. Alternatively there is a bluetooth speaker and CD player. The crog loft is reached via a set of steep wooden stairs and is an ideal space for children and teenagers to escape, there is also a TV. The cottage enjoys WIFI throughout.

The rest of house has central heating to keep you toasty on those colder days, but the house is well insulated and not drafty.

The cottage has a large kitchen diner with a table that will seat ten. The kitchen also has a window seat and settle tucked away in one corner which is ideal for feeding a casual bite to eat, quiet coffee, board games or a jigsaw. There is a dual fuel range cooker, two fridge freezers, dishwasher, microwave, pod coffee machine and plenty of pans, mugs, glasses and crockery. If you prefer your beer out of a pewter tankard, there are also a few of those to hand. To help with cooking there is a DAB radio and docking station in the kitchen.

There is a separate utility room, with sink, washing machine and tumble dryer, and it is also a great place to feed any pets you might wish to bring with you. We are happy for you to bring well behaved pets, but please remember you are surrounded by farming land so they need to be kept under control.

The cottage has three formal bedrooms, two double rooms with king sized beds - one with an ensuite toilet and shower, the third bedroom has two full size single beds. We understand sometimes families are bigger and teenagers want there own space, so there is also a comfortable daybed in the snug opposite the TV, and there are also two single beds in the crog loft ideal for older children. There is a second bathroom with toilet and shower.

There is a village shop stocking a really good selection, including artisan bread. There is a small cafe at Antur Waunfawr. Within ten minutes walk is the Snowdonia Parc pub which is a micro-brewery brewing thirteen different brews, with at least four on at any one time.

Quirky and spacious “huge” cottage
Fabulous modernised stone cottage. Huge spacious kitchen, very well equipped and large enough to socialise whilst cooking. Lots of interesting quirky cottage features in the modernised older part.

Wow
This was one of the best holiday cottages we have ever stayed at. Spotlessly clean, modern with old world charm and comfortable. Beautiful views from the garden where we enjoyed our breakfast every morning. The hosts have thought of everything to make our stay the best it could be. Very well placed for touring around and within walking distance of a fab pub. Perfect for us all and our 2 dogs. If you are thinking of booking you absolutely won’t be disappointed 😊

Unbelievable-Stunning-Unique
Just book it! That's my best advice! Six of us, who travel together often around the world, stayed at TYW for a week and from the moment we set foot in the cottage, spent a week talking about how much we love it there. The scenery is amazing and the walks on the footpaths down the road (each way) were full of vistas, sheep and mountains that are beyond picturesque. The house itself is a perfect base for exploring Snowdonia and all of North Wales. Angharad was terrific to work with. She even found us a chef to come into the cottage and cook for our friend's 50th birthday celebration (I highly recommend Justin. Ask Angharad about this). Angharad's recommendations for walks off the beaten path, restaurants and little day trips were perfect and she was more than happy to oblige. She was probably one of the most responsive VRBO owners I've ever dealt with. On some rainy mornings, we sat around the living room which is just loaded with comfort. The snug, the bedrooms and the incredibly large and well appointed kitchen made this house unique, homey and it is full of little decorations that had us constantly saying "we didn't notice this yesterday". I highly recommend this house and this area for your vacation.

About the host

Hosted by Angharad Brittle

Host profile image
Angharad was born in North Wales and was lucky enough to grow up with stunning views of Yr Wyddfa, Snowdon; the highest mountain in Eryri, Snowdonia. The cottage was bought in 2016 with her husband, Matt. They have two children and a very lazy cat!

Why they chose this property

Our 200year old cottage nestled between mountains and rivers of North Wales. Lovingly modernised and extended it is cosy, retaining a traditional inglenook fire place and exposed beams but with modern features such as underfloor heating, large kitchen diner, king size beds and Netflix. It's relaxed and comfortable and dog friendly.
Ideally located on the edge of a traditional Welsh speaking village with a shop, cafe and pub the cottage is also within walking distance of the Welsh Highland Railway. Catch a steam train the 4miles to the historic Royal castle and walled town of Caernarfon or to the base of Snowdon, Wales highest mountain. Or travel further into Snowdonia National Park where you can enjoy magnificent views, go hiking, mountain biking or climbing.

What makes this property unique

The cottage is situated on the edge of a village with a pub, shop and cafe it is the perfect rural retreat. With old beams, traditional inglenook fire place and a unique hand carved slate fire place it also has all the creature comforts of underfloor heating, comfortable beds, modern showers and a large open plan kitchen diner. Our bespoke handmade kitchen has a large range cooker and two fridge freezers. A table that will seat 10 and a settle and table tucked in the corner, perfect for card games or doing a jigsaw. It also has a window seat where you can enjoy the mountain views from it's large picture window.
A stunning porch with under floor heating and plenty of space to hang up your coats and dry walking boots.

Ideal for 1 or two families, as well as the 3 bedrooms: 1 master en-suit with king sized bed, 1 double bedroom with king size bed and a twin bedroom we also have a children's crog loft (with restricted head height) with twin beds and also a double (king) pull out bed down stairs in the 'snug' which doubles up as a 4th bedroom. We have a cosy reading chair if you want a quiet corner to get away.
Out side there is a private garden. We also have an acre + of woodland where you can sit out and enjoy the views while warming your self with the fire pit.
