Stylishly Renovated Villa With Fabulous Views and All Amenities
We have completely renovated and redecorated our villa located in a quiet and secluded corner of St. Andrews Common, the first gated community you will encounter after driving into Palmetto Dunes. We have created a haven for you to use as your home base while exploring the area’s many offerings. The villa’s casually sophisticated coastal style and tasteful artwork will encourage you to relax and unwind.
The second story villa offers shaded, yet unobstructed views of the award winning George Fazio golf course and native bird nesting areas. Large windows immerse you in the eco-friendly environment.
The inviting entryway leads to the kitchen, breakfast bar and master suite. A full-size washer and dryer are available for your use in a separate laundry room right off the entryway.
A step down and you are in the great room with its living and dining areas. A substantial wooden dining table (with an extra available leaf) seats 6 comfortably in cushioned chairs. An iron chandelier hangs overhead. The large corner windows provide great views of the golf course and bird nesting areas (binoculars are provided). In the adjacent living area two large, very comfortable sofas are anchored by a Moroccan-inspired area rug and coffee table. The living area is a perfect place to read a good book or watch the 50 inch Smart HDTV. A Blu-Ray DVD player and sound bar is connected to the TV and an assortment of movies is provided for your enjoyment.
French doors lead to a covered deck with a high top table, chairs. The unobstructed view from the totally private deck is exceptionally beautiful. Visible through a canopy of large trees is the 14th green of the George Fazio golf course and its adjoining pond. This is the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee while observing local wildlife and golfers hitting into the par 3 14th hole.
The well-appointed kitchen features:
• All stainless steel appliances
• Dishes, glassware and flatware for 8
• Small appliances (microwave, toaster, electric coffee maker, French press coffee maker, coffee grinder, tea kettle, blender, hand mixer, George Foreman grill, and slow cooker).
• All basic cooking, baking and food preparation paraphernalia
• An assortment of frequently-used herbs and spices
• All the useful kitchen gadgets and utensils you could possibly need
Although the kitchen has all modern conveniences, it has a quasi-vintage feel as reflected in the raised ceiling lined with 200 year old reclaimed poplar, open shelving made of the same aged poplar, hammered copper lighting fixtures and bead board backsplash. The cooks in your party will appreciate the kitchen’s unique appearance as well as its functionality.
Everything in the soothing master bedroom suite is high quality: a stylish headboard and matching 9-drawer dresser, king-size mattress and bedding, unusual embossed nightstands, and a 32” flat screen HDTV. French doors open directly onto the outdoor deck from the master bedroom and ample closet space is available. The private master bath includes a dressing area and a custom built tile shower.
The loft bedroom suite is reached by a sturdy spiral staircase. The spacious bedroom is furnished with two comfortable cottage style twin beds, a matching nightstand, and a large dresser. A comfortable fold out bed is also provided in the loft closet if needed. The loft suite also boasts a generously sized full bathroom and walk-in closet. A new 32” flat screen HDTV and second DVD player are provided for use by our guests in the loft.
St. Andrews Common is conveniently located within the award winning Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort, which was listed as one of the Top 25 “World’s Best Family Resorts” by Travel & Leisure magazine and has been recognized as a Hilton Head landmark for over 45 years. Your guest pass provides access to numerous resort amenities including 3 miles of ocean beaches, numerous bicycle paths, the General Store, casual dining by the ocean at the Dunes House, kayaking the 11 mile lagoon that winds throughout Palmetto Dunes, a nationally renowned tennis/pickle ball center, and three championship golf courses. The beach is ¾ mile from your front door, a short drive or bike ride. Beach chairs are provided for guests and there are two beach parking areas - one at the Dunes House and one at the Disney Beach House. Bicycles and kayaks are available for rent at discounted rates for villa guests from Hilton Head Outfitters just a short half mile from our villa at St. Andrews. The “Dunes Buggy”, a free, on demand shuttle service that can transport you anywhere within the Palmetto Dunes-Shelter Cove area, is available April 1-September 30.
If you prefer to relax close to “home”, you can swim or sunbathe at the beautiful pool and pavilion, exclusively for use by St. Andrews residents and guests. Shelter Cove Marina and the newly developed Shelter Cove Towne Centre are just across the William Hilton Parkway and a short walk or bike ride along one of the bike paths that passes under the highway. You can visit shops and restaurants, arrange a cruise, take a dolphin watching excursion, charter a deep sea fishing trip, rent a paddle board, or just enjoy the seasonal live music and fireworks displays at Shelter Cove.
The question we always asked ourselves during renovation was: “Would WE want to stay here?” The answer now is “Yes indeed!” The space we’ve created is understated, serene, and tasteful; coastal, without the tackiness that comes with too many beach rentals. We hope you choose to stay at our villa and enjoy it as much as we do.

Hosted by Steven and Barbara Heasley

The owners are year round residents of Wild & Wonderful (Almost Heaven) West Virginia and live in the Appalachian mountains near the small city of Elkins. Both Steve and Barb are graduates of West Virginia University. Barb grew up in Pittsburgh and is a retired clinical social worker. Steve is a native West Virginian and does consulting work in the human services and community development fields.
Why they chose this property
After several visits to Hilton Head Island and Palmetto Dunes we discovered this villa for sale and immediately recognized the prime location as one of the best properties in the area. St Andrews Common is a beautifully landscaped area and the scenic views from our villa are stunning.
We find the location to be ideal. St Andrews is situated at the mid-point of the island - very close to the Palmetto Dunes beaches with easy access to any number of excellent golf courses both within Palmetto Dunes and a short drive up or down the William Hilton Parkway (Rt. 278). Shelter Cove is also just across the highway and within walking distance of the villa with its scenic harbor, shops, restaurants, live music, and fireworks displays during the summer months. Our villa is an ideal location for a relaxing and fun-filled vacation.
