About this property
Two bedroom self-catering cottage in Pewsey Village
The Byre is an independent wing of a thatched cottage and guests have their own keys and full access at all times. There is parking for one car on site. It is the perfect place to relax and explore the beautiful county of Wiltshire. On one level, it is a newly renovated, self-contained wing of an 18th century thatched cottage and consists of one king bedroom and a small twin. It has been luxuriously fitted out with White Company and Mitre bed linen, towels, feather duvets and pillows, John Lewis beds and sofas and high quality new furniture. There is free Wi-Fi, a smart television with Netflix, parking for one car and a small outside seating area with a table and chairs solely for guests. The accommodation is cosy and as neat as a pin. The Owners, Maggy, Barbara and Bob have been friends for over forty years and decided to buy a house in Pewsey together for their retirement. We are very proud of our beautiful home and garden and offer a very warm welcome to our guests. Maggy and Barbara are classically trained musicians so you might hear the (delightful!!) strains of music wafting around. The Byre is convenient for Marlborough, Bath, Salisbury, the K & A Canal, Stonehenge and Avebury. As Pewsey station is only a few minutes walk away, day trips to London (1 hr) and Bath are easy.

Beds and linen were so comfortable we did not want to get up! Hostess was so friendly and helpful with local information. Central position for visiting local places of interest.Would stay here again if in the area
Super snug residence with excellent facilities and finish. Wonderful hosts, so friendly and helpful.
Lovely surrounding countryside, a real gem of a county with rolling hills, few cars and some brilliant cafes!
My husband and I spent 4 restful nights at this cozy spot. The hosts have thought of everything a guest could want. They provide a detailed information sheet about the village, with local eating options - plus a notebook with instructions about how to use the appliances. The beds and linens were great. The bookshelf was full of maps for walks all through the area- we had fun and successfully found our way back home each time! We had a lovely 4 days!
I stayed at the property for 3 nights with my 12 year old son and my Mum. The Byre had everything we needed. Would not recommend for cosy evenings in as the sofa and armchair are small and not the most comfortable but otherwise we couldn't fault it. As we didn't spend much time sitting around, it was fine for us.

It was a delight to host Nicola’s family who left The Byre clean and today.
This cottage is so cozy and perfectly appointed. My whole family was sad to leave. The cottage itself is exactly as described and perfectly suited for up to four people. My two teenagers each had a spacious bed and the other room was plenty big and very comfortable for me and my husband. Everything is walkable in Pewsey and there is a lovely walking/running trail behaving the cottage that leads to other parts of town. Easy drives to all nearby towns. Highly recommend.

Thank you for leaving such a great review. We are very pleased you enjoyed your stay.
We were attending two music events. One was in Wimborne Minister and one in Cheltenham. The Byre is about equal distance to both. Plus The Byre is 30 minutes from Stonehenge. It is in the quaint village of Pewsey. A village with train service along a canal. Many sites to see around the area. If I'm in the area again The Byre will be my choice to stay at. Book Early.....just sayin'
Property was clean and comfortable.
We were made very welcome and had a great stay.
Not that it mattered for us, but note the TV is very small.
Would stay there again
What a lovely place! Beautifully furnished and spotless. Fresh range eggs from “the girls” was a lovely touch. Great location for our trip to Highclere Castle. Very useful folder with all sorts of information. Thoroughly recommended!
We had such a fantastic stay at The Byre! It was so cosy and welcoming. We had everything we needed for our weekend stay. Lovely hosts. Would definitely recommend staying here!
Charming and compact cottage, set back off a busy road. The bedrooms are nicely-sized and comfortable. The living room/diner is slightly cramped but the space has been used well and it was nice to have a smart TV with Netflix plus a decent coffee machine. The cottage was very clean and beautifully decorated, with some nice detail and touches. It is an easy stroll to shops and pubs, with a nice pub by the waterfront and a good park for children in Broomcroft Road. The cottage is well-located for trips to Marlborough and other areas of Wiltshire. The stay was completely hassle-free with everything provided and as advertised, and friendly laid-back hosts.
Byrne Cottage was the perfect place for our family to use as a central point for visiting Stonehenge, Avebury, Highclere Castle and the surrounding area. As this was our first foray out since the pandemic, we were a little apprehensive about cleanliness and being away from home, but we were VERY quickly put at ease. The cottage was very, very clean. It was super comfortable for our family of 4 and despite being small, it had all the amenities of a 5-star holiday home. The bedding was fabulous and the mattresses comfortable. We used the small kitchen to cook meals each day and had all we needed. It is located on a main road leading in to Pewsey so traffic noise can sometimes be quite loud but not too much of a bother for us. Thanks Barbara, Maggy and Bob for a wonderful stay!
This cottage is absolutely brillant! It has everything you need for a great holiday. The owners are helpful and go out of their way to ensure you have a good stay. The cottage is in a lovely village and within easy driving to sights such as Stonehenge and Avebury. The cottage was extremely clean. Good hot water and very comfy beds. Despite Covid 19 we always felt safe. We would highly recommend staying here.
The Byre more than lived up to our expectations. A really well thought out conversion with great touches and high quality throughout. The cottage is set back from the main road running through the village so not completely off piste. Very conveniently located. Only addition we'd like to see would be folding lounge chairs for the outdoor patio. Dining table and chairs great for meals al fresco but not for simply hanging out in the sunshine with a good book.
We stayed here for our daughter’s 3rd birthday. The cottage is very well equipped, clean and the bedding is lovely! Having Netflix was a bonus as well; great to have Peppa Pig on hand whenever we wanted!
The hosts are very friendly and helpful and we definitely want to come back in future.
We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful decorated, well equiped house.

What makes this property unique
Set in the centre of Pewsey village, The Byre is walking distance to shops and cafes, has a major bus route outside (south to Salisbury and north to Swindon via Marlborough) and a train station. Yet it is private and quiet.
