The Lazio region: The Lazio region, birthplace of two of mankind’s greatest institutions, the Roman Empire and the Catholic Church, is dominated and largely defined by its capital, Rome. Since ancient Roman times the region has been an extension of the city, where noble Roman families created their own towns and the wealthy built their villas in the surrounding countryside. Lazio is a treasure trove of the remains of age old civilizations: bridges, churches, towers, villas, monasteries, aqueducts, arches — the list is endless. To the north of Rome are Etruscan sites and the tombs of Tarquinia, founded in the 12th century BC. The ruins of Ostia Antica, a 4th century BC port city at the mouth of the Tiber are located west of the city, with delightful beaches nearby. East of Rome toward the mountains is Tivoli, a favourite retreat for the wealthy at the height of the Roman Empire. Visit the remains of Hadrian’s Villa, completed in 134 AD, and the beautiful fountains and gardens of the Villa d’Este.

Perfect location!!

The Green apartment we stayed at was minutes from the Colosseum and short metro trip to the Vatican. The apartment was clean and quiet and had a charming patio. The property manager was so helpful and personable. He gave us lots of tips of what and where to see. The restaurants nearby had great food. Overall we had a wonderful experience!

Would Reccomend to Friends

Location is perfect - just down the street from the Coliseum. Andrea is very helpful and provides you with recommendations to local restaurants, sites to see, etc - giving you the local "eye" to the city. Stayed in apartment 1 with another couple. Was clean, we each had our own bathroom. The terrace was nice to sit out and enjoy the evening with a drink. Loved our visit to Rome and would suggestion Green apartments to anyone

Close to the colosseum

Clean apartment close to the colosseum. It really is very small. There is an eat in kitchen but no living area. It was only for one day so it was fine but would not have worked if we were there for multiple days.

Green Apartments, Rome. 5 stars!

The Green apartments in Rome are without a doubt a 5 star accommodation! They were very clean, comfortable, secure and well equipped with whatever you need. They are located in an excellent part of Rome close to many important sites. Andrea the owner, met us on our arrival. He assisted us with parking and informed us of what was local to visit and the buses and metro we could use. Andrea was very helpful, pleasant and accommodating. I highly recommend to stay here and would do so again myself. Steve, Douglassville, PA.

Perfecto!!!!!

From the first contact with Andrea right up to to the time I left, I can only say that this was the best lodging experience I have ever had. Andrea is a fantastic Host!!!! Not only did he arrange transport, he gave advice as to where to go, where to eat, how to get around the city and he even treated me to Cappuccino!!! The apartment was exactly as described and more. The location for tourism is unbeatable. The building is set back from the Avenue and is quiet and secure. The bed and other furnishings are very comfortable and the Terrace is magnificent. On top of all that, Maria is a gem!! She and Andrea took wonderful care of me. I will be making many more trips to Rome and will not stay anywhere else.

Absolutely Perfect!

I have stayed many places, many times in Rome, but this was, by far, the best experience I've ever had. The location was perfect - exactly between the two Metro lines, so no matter where you want to go, you don't have to change trains. It was great with two small children - quiet (which is rare for Rome), with a great outdoor patio. Andrea was wonderful - our plane was late, and he communicated with our pickup to ensure that there would be no problems. He met us at the apartment, sat down and reviewed the city map with us, pointing out good places for the kids (like the Explora children's museum). It was so cold in December, but the heater in the apartment (and the hot water) worked beautifully. The neighborhood is so nice, and I loved walking past the Coliseum at night - it is beautiful when illuminated and is right down the street. This is a fantastic property with a wonderful host!

A Gem in Rome!

First, Andrea is an excellent host! He responded very quickly to our emails making arrangements and helped us with transportation to/from the apartment. How nice to be met when we arrived with another hand to help with luggage! A custom and detailed map including recommendations for sites, stores, and restaurants served us well and we enjoyed the neighborhood a lot, including a take-out dinner from the Indian restaurant nearby. We also loved our farewell dinner at Trattoria Luzzi very much. The Colosseo is a short and easy walk away and we found ourselves walking TO everything and then taxiing home if we were tired. Taxis are easy to find and reasonable. The stop for The Big Bus is also by the Colosseo and we liked that as an introductory ride along with an entertaining and informative narrative. Our Green Apartment I was clean, comfortable, and spacious. Bathrooms are large and there is a hair dryer! The daily cleaning by Maria was much appreciated. There is no living space but the kitchen table works great for home cooking/dining and the terrace tables are wonderful for apéro time or an evening glass of wine. We also enjoyed a terrace breakfast one morning. When I return to Rome, I will certainly stay here again!

Adequate and Uncooperative

The best we can say about the property was that it was clean and roomy and the outside courtyard was pretty. We wanted a "first floor" room ,as we had a lot of luggage. What the owner didn't tell us was that in Europe, the 1st floor is really the 2nd floor, as in Europe the ground floor is really floor zero. 2 long flights of stairs to get up there. We paid one-half of the rate by credit card, and at the apartment he insisted upon Euros (in cash )for the remaining balance ,and we had to beg him to take US dollars. His customer service was dissapointing, as he refused to call for us a taxi to take us to the airport, and insisted upon us using a car service that he was connected to. The room didn't have enough towels, and there was an additional charge for any extra ones. The units were located in a back alleyway, (a little creepy), and the front door to our unit had 4 locks on it. The Indian restaurant near by was also not very friendly ,and rude. We would not recommend these "green apartments" to anyone in the States.

Even more than we hoped for

We chose to stay at Green Apartments because it was conveniently located - walking distance to everywhere - 300 meters from the Colosseum. The price is good, and we wanted a 2 bedroom (travelling with friends), and the fact that there was 2 bathrooms was an added benefit. The place was perfect - exactly what we hoped for. Comfortable, stocked with everything we needed, convenient, nice and cool floors, hot water, very secure - we actually stayed for 1 day in one of the one bedroom apartments, and the rest of the time in the 2 bedroom apartment, and both were beautiful and comfortable. Now, MORE importantly, and the things we didn't expect, and the reasons that we will always come back to the Green Apartments, and won't even bother to search around, were: the little vegetable and fruit market across the street, the church bells every morning (and a few times on Sundays) from San Clemente and the church on the other side (which, I never found out it's name, but the bells were beautiful!), the little Celio district, filled with restaurants, pizzerias, coffee shops, and cobblestone, walking distance to the Colosseum and all the other sights (plus easy access to 3 subway stations and on the bus route). And, most importantly, there's Andrea. If you haven't stayed at the Green Apartments yet, you don't know what a wonderful find Andrea is!! From his very first contact, he was an abundance of information, very helpful, and, I must say, very patient. He answered all of my questions right away, and always had additional suggestions, and this was even before we'd made the decision to stay at this location. Then, he arranged transportation to and from the airport, and also to and from a "nearby" town. He met us at the apartment when we arrived and settled us in, and reviewed our options for seeing as much of Rome as we could, within our time limits. He gave us advice on using transportation, what each area of the city had to offer, and the best places for pizza, gelato and caffe. Above and beyond, he also helped us retrieve our missing luggage (which, I can tell you, was a huge relief since we didn't know Italian)! I could go on and on, but you will just have to experience it for yourself. In the end, all I can say (to Andrea) is "Grazie Mille" and even that, I think, is not enough to express how great our stay at Green Apartments really was.

Nice apartment at a great value.

The apartment was very clean and modern. The location, while away from the center, was still close enough to everything for a quick cab or metro ride to most attractions. nice little cafe around the block that was a great place to jump start our day. Andrea was very prompt in returning emails and met us as soon as we arrived back in Rome. We would stay here again.

i booked this property based on the glowing reviews. I was disappointed with a few different things. First and most important, the location, while somewhat close to the Coliseum, was quite far from most of the important sites and areas of Rome and transportation(bus) was not that easy. Our group found ourselves just staying out all day because we didn't want the hassle of returning to the apartment. Upon arrival we were told the 2bedroom was not available and we were given two one bedroom apartments instead. Not terrible, but the point of booking VRBO was so our group of four could stay together. The units, while not dirty, were worn and dated. Maybe we were spoiled by a beautiful and modern VRBO in Florence, and maybe this is par for the course in Rome, but we expected better quality for what we paid. Also, one small air conditioning unit over the front entry door did not work well and did not cool the bedroom. The host, Andrea, was very gracious and helpful, and he had excellent recommendations. The apartment was clean and spacious.

Loved the Green Apartments--thanks Andrea!

The Green Apartments were the perfect choice for our travel group. The location, near the Colosseum, was perfect and the Manzoni metro stop was close by. We loved the outside terrace and used it a couple of nights for in-house dinners and also for morning coffee. Maria had everything clean and ready for us after we sat with Andrea and got all his helpful tips including a great, custom-designed map. The two bedrooms and two baths worked perfectly for our group of 4. I departed separately from the rest of my group and Andrea/Maria were so helpful in arranging a taxi to the station for me. I would gladly stay again in this apartment and recommend it to anyone going to Rome that want to experience apartment life there. Thanks Andrea for such a first class accommodation!

Wonderful Rome Apartment

This apartment was clean, with a beautiful outside patio. We were within walking distance of several restaurants, one mentioned in Rick Steve's book on Rome. Grocery was also close, as was the metro. Andrea was very generous with his time in reviewing amenities, tourists tips via a city map that we used the entire time we were there and assistance on securing a taxi when we departed. I would recommend this apartment to friends interested in seeing Rome.

Wonderful Roman Apartment

We had a wonderful stay. The apartment was very clean and comfortable. We felt very secure. I had hoped for Roman ambiance and I was not disappointed. The Metro was a ten minute walk and we used it every day. We found good restaurants nearby. Andrea arranged transportation for us, which made our arrival and departure worry-free. The city map provided by Andrea was well annotated with favorite eateries and locations of ATMs, laundry facilities, and food stores. We would recommend this apartment and hope we can come back for another visit,

Wonderful Apartment & Perfect Location

We spent 4 fabulous days at this apartment. It was the perfect location to explore Rome. It's a short walk to the Coliseum and Forum. It's also a short walk to the metro, which we easily used to get to the Vatican. There are several bakeries, delis, and other food stores nearby, so you can buy delicious food to bring back to your apartment. And plenty of Gelato is within walking distance too. Andrea met us at the apartment and gave us a full tour on the apartment. He even showed us the 'American' coffee maker and the Italian one. Needless to say, we bought a new coffee maker once we got back to the states. He also gave us a city map with some of his favorites marked. We carried that map with us everywhere we went. Andrea was so helpful in arranging a taxi to and from the airport. We saw him several times during our stay, and he was always quick to make sure we were having fun and ask if we needed anything. The apartment is quiet and has everything you need. The terrace was perfect for enjoying lunch or a glass of wine Our only disappointment was that we didn't get to stay longer. If we are ever lucky enough to come back to Rome, this apartment is where I would want to stay.

Clean, comfortable,convenient and wonderful!

We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment and the 5 of us had plenty of room. We enjoyed the kitchen area and the ability to make coffee each morning, before stiking out on our adventures. The terrrace was wonderful for gathering for drinks and eating. The apartment was clean, plenty of hot water, enough dishes and cooking utensils to prepare meals. The Green Apartments are located close to public transportation, and within walking distance to the Colosseum, restaurants,ATM, grocery shopping, tobacco shops and post office. Andrea was most helpful in providing transportation from the airport, and for information regarding Rome. We look forward to our next visit to the Green Apartments.Thank you Andrea.

Great apartment in Rome!

We stayed in a 2-bedroom apartment in mid-May....it was our first trip to Rome, and this was the perfect location! It was so nice to walk past the Coliseum every time we went out! And the best part was the friendliness and helpful advice from Andrea, the apartment owner. We also enjoyed coming "home" after long days of sightseeing, and sitting on our terrace, sipping wine or limoncello, and chatting with our neighbors. I highly recommend the Green Apartments, and hope to return soon!
