This is our second stay at the Bears Den and it was even better this time. Ken made some great upgrades since our last visit that really enhanced our stay. We loved the hot tub but we especially enjoyed the retractable ceiling in the sun room. Sunrises were great off the back deck and the deer sneaking through the yard were a special treat! I’m sure we’ll stay here again!
We had a wonderful few days in the mountains. The views are outstanding and the cabin is roomy and clean. Nice location close to waterfalls, Cashiers, and Brevard.
Hosts were great. Would definitely book again.
Clean and nicely appointed log house with an incredible view and a large hot tub. Kitchen was very well stocked with utensils and necessities. The property managers were easy to work with and were the most hospitable we have dealt with.
This house had everything we were looking for and more. The kitchen was well stocked from anything you needed to cook with all the way to things to do as a family. Just bring your suitcase! There is so much room to spread out in the two living areas but still feel like you are together as a family. The views are absolutely amazing. We enjoyed watching the sunrise and sunset in the sun room as well as on the huge deck. The hot tub was a plus too! From the time we booked our vacation until the day we checked out Ken and his wife responded very quickly. They even took the time to reach out prior to our vacation to ask about the birth of our grandson. This was the perfect place for our family to celebrate Christmas! We’re already planning our next vacation! Amy Dec. 2025
Our group goes to Lake Toxaway every July 4th. We have stayed in a number of different properties and this one is definitely at the top of our list, this year being our 3rd stay. We hope to be able to return in the future.
House was perfect for our group with lots of places to relax both inside and outside. Beds, sofas, chairs were very comfortable. House very clean - only mildly concerning issue being was hot tub panel indicated that filter was well over 100 days overdue for needing to be replaced. Owner and host were very responsive to our questions and a repair that needed to be completed during our stay. I could see our group staying there again in the future.
We had an excellent time at the Bear's Den. There was enough room for the kids to watch their shows and a second living area on the main floor for the adults to watch TV. The hot tub was a favorite with everyone and we had plenty of room for the nine of us to sit on the decks mainly having a good time and watching the view.
We had a wonderful weekend at this mountain cabin! There were 10 of us plus our dog, and we were all extremely comfortable. The host was amazing with communication and made everything easy. Even my husband, who usually isn’t sentimental about trips, commented that he was sad to leave and already wants to come back in the fall. The location was perfect — a relatively short drive to Brevard and Brevard College, where our son is a senior. We loved being able to explore the town and catch some baseball games while we were there. Highly recommend!
The cabin was roomy with plenty of seating and rooms for our extended family. The host and owner were amazing to work with. Answered all emails and texts very quickly. The deck was great for hanging out with lots of chairs and a porch swing. The kitchen was very well stocked and I made thanksgiving dinner with no problem. We had a wonderful time and would stay at this home again.
5 college friends that have been going to NC for almost 40 years but first time in Lake Toxaway. We found the location ideal between Highlands, Cashiers, and Brevard. Enjoyed the local waterfalls, hikes, and great places to eat. The view from the cabin was one of the best mountain views I've seen and the cabin takes full advantage of it. The spacious but cozy home helped us ingest the beautiful Fall colors and mountain air that are unique to western NC. One of our guys gave it the highest compliment: "I'd stay here again!".
Stayed here for a week with my wife, her family, some friends w/ their 5 year old, and a dog.The host is incredibly easy to get a hold of and attentive. If you text the host, you will get a response in a very timely fashion. The house has everything you need for an awesome week. It has tons of room for people to spread out. There is an open and enclosed part of the deck so you can soak in the views regardless of the weather. The view out of the house to the mountains is fantastic. You can watch the sunrise and moonrise (depending on the phase) from the comfort of a hot tub.The neighborhood is quiet, we saw some of the neighbors and everyone was friendly. We very much enjoyed our stay here.
We were very happy with our rental over the holiday period. A home from home. Great location, near many trails between Brevard and Cashier. The property has breath-taking views of the mountains. The host, Jennifer, was very accessible. We had an issue with the heating but Jennifer helped us get that sorted straight away, there were also plenty of heaters in the house and even a stove we lite most nights. Very cosy indeed. She even kitted the house out with a christmas tree and decorations for the holiday season and I was very grateful for that. The kitchen is well equiped too. Plenty of games in the play room. Overall, I would give this place and the host 5 stars, I hope to return again in the future.
We stayed here for a week for our annual family trip to the NC mountains. The cabin is located about halfway between Brevard and cashiers, allowing many opportunities for exploration. Thecabin was clean, cozy and inviting inside Anything you could possibly want for food preparation was available.
The owner was quick to respond when we notified him of the lack of hot water. The reason for our “4” rating is that the exterior of the house is in need of considerable maintenance, especially uoors and windows. From the inside the great view was partially obstructed by wrinkled window film. This house has so much potential with some attention to detail in exterior maintenance and needed repairs.
Wonderful experience! The view is alone the best part. We enjoyed the hot tub and buck stove. Ken was super helpful through the entire experience. Thanks for a great place! Would love to book again in the future.
Stayed here with family for a week and was surprised to find the house had several updates since the photos in the listing were taken. New gas stove, new hot tub, new chimea and looked like several repairs around the property. It's a nice big house with a good layout for a big group. Loved our stay and would book again.
We had a great time the house was beautiful. We hiked everyday and had plenty of nearby trails to choose from. Would highly recommend this house for others.
