Converted Pole Barn Near Beach Becomes Luxury Destination
Luxurious amenities combine with beach casual to make our Nid d'Amour (Love Nest) distinctive. In it's prior life a 'pole barn', this property has now been restyled into seventeen hundred square feet of self-contained comfort. Just a short walk to the community beach access where the Mouth of the Elwha River and Strait of Juan de Fuca converge, with acres of sandy beach. Most days it seems like your own private beach, with only a few surfers or beachcombers. When you arrive at your destination the refreshing sea air tells you immediately that this is a very special home-away-from-home and the scented evergreens whisper their welcome, and the waves provide a relaxing, natural "soundtrack",.
While oriented to the woods and fully fenced for maximum privacy, guests are lulled to sleep by the sound of the surf. Rainy days on Freshwater Bay are a delight because as the rain patterns on the tin roof, you are cozy with a cheery fire, books to read or board games to play. We are located less than 1/4 mile walk from the public beach access where the mouth of the Elwha River meets the bay.. In addition to the many known attractions ofClallam county, we have guests who "bird" at the mouth of the river. We have hosted guests interested in the Elwha Dam Removal Project, authors who crave a quiet place to think and write, as well as the film crew who documented the history of the river and salmon habitat in a documentary called "The Breach". A lot of guests feels we are centrally located to all the natural wonders here on the Olympic Peninsula.
Snuggle by the fireplace before slipping into the silky comfort of the European linens on your Cal-King canopied bed. The second bedroom contains an Eastern King (wider than longer), Enjoy cooking in a well-equipped galley style kitchen. .Lyndee refuses to cook on vacation-or ever anymore- but guests who enjoy cooking have said we have the best equipped kitchen of any vacation rental they have visited. Or enjoy the unique flavors of the Pacific Northwest at one of the many excellent restaurants in town. (We are eight miles west of downtown Port Angeles, the park entrance for Hurricane Ridge or Victoria ferries).
Take a dip in your double fenced private hot tub, count all the stars you can't see living in town and revel in the sounds and smells of our woods and sea. We frequently get guests who tell us "'last night was the best I've slept in ages.''
While often used by lovers who want to get away from it all, (and frequent honeymooners), the house has been enthusiastically received by families wanting a unique location to use as their home base while they explore the wonders of the Olympic Peninsula or day-trip to Victoria, British Columbia. To enter Canada an enhanced drivers license or passports are required for each traveler. We took two grandchildren to Canada and at that time they accepted birth certificates as ID. Check with the Coho and Victoria Clipper, if parents divorced, a notarized letter from the non-custodial parent granting permission for the day trip. Originally with only a master bedroom with large Cal-King bed, we have added a second bedroom with a plush Eastern King bed, both covered with imported Italian linens. Some guests could care less about TV but we do have a Smart TV( Directv Prime, Netflix, Hulu, Discovery Plus, AMC, Showtime, HBO Max) and hundreds of DVDs. We have Prime streaming and a huge selection of channels.
Kid-friendly amenities include board games, glider, a fire pit for weenie and marshmallow roasts (we provide s'more supplies) plus, it's a 5-10 minute walk or one minute drive to the beach and the Elwha Delta.
The owners of the Love Nest live next door and are delighted to help their guests plan their excursions, recommend wonderful places to dine or even arrange for a masseuse to attend you after a full day of activities.

This is a beautiful place. We enjoyed the outdoor area and listening to the waves crashing. This has great kitchen space and we appreciated being able to cook our own meals. Its a peaceful location right outside of town and the hot tub was perfect after a day exploring hurricane ridge!

Thank you for the kind words. Please come out again. Allen and Lyndee
We really enjoyed our stay. Allen, the host, met us and showed us around. Really friendly and helpful. The place was well stocked and had everything you could possibly need. Short walk to the beach and it was beautiful. Hot tub was great and the fire pit with provided s’mores items was awesome! Grill worked great. Comfy beds and great other amenities. Perfect for what we were wanting. Communication with host was easy too!!!
The hosts were incredibly sweet and welcoming, and the home was thoughtfully stocked with anything guests might need. We appreciated the comfortable stay and the care they put into hosting. Thank you for your hospitality!

Thank you and please come out again!. Safe travels, Allen and Lyndee
We absolutely LOVE Allen and Lyndee’s beautiful home! This is our third time staying in their concerted pole barn and we have lived every time we’ve stayed. Their home is so creative, comfortable, unique, lovely and so well stocked with everything you could want. The openness of the home makes for perfect family time and the books and games and the hot tub! Divine! The neighborhood is lovely and quiet and there is an easy short walk to a beautiful beach. They even have all the makings for s’mores! What more could we ask for. We have felt spoiled every time we stayed at their wonderful home and hope to stay again.

Bless you both for you loyalty and repeat visits. Thank you, Allen and Lyndee ❤️
My husband, 2 adult children and I stayed here for two nights. Allen and Lyndee were great hosts. They are on the same property, so they were there to help us check in which was nice. After that they did not intrude on us, I am sure would have been available for help if needed. The location is great. Near Port Angeles, but outside the city, out in the country. We were able to go in for a grocery run, and then stayed there for dinner both nights we were there. You can’t see water from the house but you can hear it. It was just a short walk to a beach you can explore. Beautiful views there. The house was a converted pole barn, so there are some unique things. Allen showed us all those quirky little things(like light switches that aren’t exactly where you would think), and we had no issues. Private backyard was so nice to sit in after a day exploring the area. The hot tub was sparkling and much needed after hiking and climbing all day.Great place to stay if you aren’t needing a big fancy hotel/resort. Just a nice family place. Wish we could have stayed a few more days.
Allen & Lyndee were great hosts and we enjoyed a wonderful stay.

We enjoyed our stay in Port Angeles! The converted pole barn was so comfy and with 2 bathrooms was a wonderful place to share with our son and his wife. We were be able to see family living near by and pop into Port Angeles during the holiday weekend. It was walking distance to the beach with our dogs and had a great little fenced yard. We enjoyed the hot tub and appreciated the well stocked kitchen for cooking.
Beautiful property right next to the beach. Allen and Lyndee take great care of this property and are so kind and accommodating. We loved the library and the quiet atmosphere. We went for a wedding but want to come back just for some R&R in the future.

We loved this spacious and comfortable vacation home. The soaking tubs were so luxurious, the firepit was fun, the location was great and the hosts were friendly and welcoming. We want to come back!
Wonderful stay,a lovely place in a great neighborhood.. We needed to make a few date/pet changes and Allen was pleasant and happy to accomodate us. We are an active family and loved the hot tub after our busy, fun filled days hiking, biking as well as enjoying the beach and river nearby.

Great to see you here. Hopefully we will host you again next year. Allen and Lyndee
The host was not only welcoming but walked us through the house to make sure we knew where everything was as some light switches were not obvious. Also how to warm up the jacuzzi which unfortunately we didn't get a chance to use. Also helped us find the path to the beach!

About the host
Hosted by Lyndee or Allen
My wife and I live nearby and are almost always available for assistance. Just call or knock on our door.
Why they chose this property
Great rural wooded area with no through traffic in a quiet neighborhood and near the ocean. Lower Place Road is a double dead end street so there is no through traffic . Cool evenings and warm sunny summer days with low humidity and NO mosquitos. Lyndee says "think San Francisco and dress in layers." Comfortable and private back patio to unwind at day's end. Some of our guests are hung up by the idea of "no air conditioning". Lyndee is a total hedonist and if we needed it, she would have arranged for it!
What makes this property unique
Completely fenced yard for small kids and dogs. We stress privacy-perfect for 1 or 2 couples as a getaway. Year round hot tub. Indoor jacuzzi. Very roomy accommodations for sleeping and "hanging out".
