Come, visit us in the historic village of Oriental. The town was named after the Sailing Steamer Oriental. Built in Philadelphia in 1861, but only lasted about a year after running aground. Native Americans were the first to come here before the Europeans. They farmed the lands and fished in the creeks and on the river. Fishing is still big here and the trawlers grace the harbor, bringing in a catch of shrimp, crab or flounder depending on the season. This little piece of paradise that we call home was also a stomping ground for pirates like Edward Teach/Blackbeard. Many of tales about buried treasure....
bout our Village - Oriental, NC, known as the Sailing Capital of North Carolina and located in beautiful Pamlico County. This scenic year round boating destination is great for anyone looking to getaway for the weekend, or an extended stay. While you are here we invite you to dine in one of our local restaurants where fresh seafood is always on the menu.
