About this property

Family Friendly Lakefront Home + Beach / Kayaks + SUP / Pontoon Boat + Hot Tub

Beautiful Sunsets on Twin Lake in Muskegon Michigan!
Lakefront cottage on a sugar sand beach with all of the amenities you will need for a FUN family friendly vacation!
We have been in business for over 19 years!

My place is close to parks, great views, and restaurants and dining. You’ll love my place because of the high ceilings, the comfy bed, the kitchen, the coziness, and the light. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families (with kids), and big groups.

Forget everything you know about cottages. This one’s a treat, a cute and cozy place to unwind and relax. Start your day with a dash straight to the sandy beach of Twin Lake, and then end it with a view of the starry sky.

The trees in the area make this a beautiful vacation destination, and it’s absolutely stunning in the fall. Choose between the kayaks, stand up paddle board or the pedal boat to float through the lake, and put together a s’mores party at the bonfire pit.

Inside the House

Take in the stunning lake views with your coffee in the morning on the back deck. High ceilings and large windows add more character to the great room, with plenty of natural light during the day.

The great room features:
•Cathedral ceilings
•Dining area
•Sleeper sofa
•Nautical theme decor
•Flat Smart Screen TV with streaming and DVD Player

The spacious 3 BR, 1.5 BA cottage includes a fully-equipped kitchen. The master bedroom is on the upper floor, furnished with a queen bed, walk-in closet, flat screen tv, and a ensuite. Both bathrooms are on the main floor.

Downstairs, the kids can play around in the fort-like bunkroom and challenge each other to a quick game of foosball. One bedroom has a queen bed and the other has a bunk bed.

Also includes:
•Living room
•Sleeper sofa
•Flat screen TV with streaming and DVD player

Wander right out the lower level and down to crystal clear Twin Lake. The water level starts out shallow, so it’s the perfect depth for little ones to splash around in. Settle in on the patio and put your feet up while you wait for your burgers to finish cooking on the grill or relax those muscles in the Therapeutic Hot Tub.

Our Location

The cottage is just a few miles from major highways but is still close enough to everything you need. (And you’ll still have reliable Wi-Fi.)

While you’re in town, be sure to check out:
•Local Lighthouses
•Scenic Drives
•Lake Michigan
•Sand Dunes

Take a long walk along the beach at Lake Michigan, visit a few of the area festivals and bring your clubs to hit a few at the golf course.

A short drive will take you wherever you want to go:
•Stonegate Golf Course (3 miles)
•Michigan’s Adventure Amusement and Water Park (8 miles)
•Silver Lake Sand Dunes (30 miles)
•Grand Haven (22 miles)
•Blue Lake Fine Arts Center (5 miles)

Take advantage of the cottage’s waterfront location, all while you dip your toes in the water and catch your own dinner. You can even rent our pontoon boat during your stay. It’s shared with our nearby house with enough space for 14 guests, if you need more space. Twin Lake has the best of western Michigan has to offer. Come see us!

** Please note that outdoor equipment and furnishings are stored away from late October/November until May

The Hot Tub is open all year!

Check with us prior to booking if the Pontoon Boat is available to rent as it is on a first come, first serve basis with our other property on the lake. There may be limited rentals available or in the month of May and October.

For the integrity of the lake, it is sprayed for Swimmer's Itch/and or Weed Control, in which requires a 24 hour no swim rule. The spraying of the lake dates is unknown (due to many factors by the environmental company) and out of our control . **

Our visit
It was fine.We left a bunch of sand toys that I hope future little guests can use. Also,I lost my watch somewhere on the property,I have no idea where,so if someone finds it can you please let us know? It’s an inexpensive Timex or Acutron but I’ve had it for a long time so I’m disappointed about losing it.Thanks.

Good time with family/friends
We enjoyed our stay overall. The property was just as listed, close to neighbors but they were friendly. As others have stated, the owner does have more house rules than prior houses we have stayed at. The house was clean for the most part, but we were surprised to find sand/dirt underneath rugs given the rules about cleanliness. There were a couple of broken items upon our entry, but the owner was responsive and said they would be taken care of. We enjoyed the row/paddle boats, fishing off the dock, and parks and sand dunes nearby to visit.

Beautiful lake
Very comfortable place for our girls weekend with 4 of us, open kitchen/bar seating and looking over the living room & out to the lake. Everything was as expected, hot tub was a great bonus as our weekend was a little cooler than expected and we didn't indulge in the lake too much! One bedroom and 1.5 baths upstairs, other bed options are on lower level with walkout basement.

Cottage was nice, beachfront was nice. Had children and grand children over for approximately 5 hours on Sunday. We were outside until the rain started. Received a nasty email stating I had too many people over and VRBO would be canceling the contract. Only 3 people spent the night. Never heard from VRBO but that put a bad taste in my mouth. Nonetheless, there are rules for fires, quiet time, hot tub, grill. There’s only 1 propane tank so if it runs out you have to have it refilled ( she will reimburse you after you get her the receipt) seems like a second tank is not too much to ask! Nice place though

About the host

Hosted by Sandy Shores of Twin Lake, LLC

Host profile image
Welcome! We’re Kathy and Chuck Kircus, owners of Sandy Shores of Twin Lake. Until the economic downturn, we were both involved in the automotive industry. We’re hard workers, and we love Michigan, so we immediately started looking for a new opportunity. Usually some unexpected event is what makes you realize what’s most important to you. For us, it was spending time with our family, relaxing on our pontoon boat, taking in a crisp view of the night sky.

We knew that in Michigan, we could always find a new start. So, we used the money from our retirement and created Sandy Shores of Twin Lake, LLC. We purchased the cottage in 2005, and the house in 2007.

We understand the importance of family, a calm, relaxing vacation, and how a cozy atmosphere helps bring people together. Our properties aren’t just rentals. This place is home! My family takes an annual 10-day vacation together here ourselves. We adopted four special needs children and we experience our house and cottage with them, our parents, and our close friends.

Each year, we see these children grow as they make little sandcastles and chase fireflies in the yard. Our story started with some hardship and continues with great joy. A house and a cottage later, we’re still planning our vacations and deciding who brings the marshmallows and the graham crackers for s’mores around the bonfire.

In 2015 we celebrated our 10th anniversary as Sandy Shores of Twin Lake. It’s such a gift to us to see our guests making memories with their family and friends here, just like we have. We’d be happy for you to see why our family cherishes Western Michigan so much!

Why they chose this property

Discover Twin Lake in Muskegon County, a freshwater haven that inspires both awe and adventure. Our vacation rentals are designed to give you uninhibited access to the lake and views of its shoreline. Perfect for small children, the lakefront has crystal-clear, warm inland waters, a sandy bottom, and a gradual depth with no muck.

Cozy vacation cottage-like interiors let you curl up fireside while looking out over acres of deep water. Grassy yards lead to picture-perfect beaches. And just a short drive away, historical scenic lighthouses and fun-packed Michigan's Adventure Amusement & Water Park await.

With 25 years of experience in customer service, we’ll ensure your vacation goes off without a hitch. Join us for a lakeside retreat you won’t soon forget at Sandy Shores of Twin Lake, LLC.
