About the host
Hosted by Katie Dewit
We moved to Asheville after living in Africa for 13 years where I met my husband. His poverty alleviation work was the subject of a television documentary I worked on. We are the third owners of this special house and we had no idea what we were getting into buying what at the time was a 90 year old house. Our real estate agent even cautioned us! It's been a labor of love, sweat and tears and we have enjoyed living here especially now that the work is done, (well, almost...). When not working or with family and friends, I can be found in the woods or on the Blue Ridge Parkway on a bicycle.
Why they chose this property
I grew up visiting family in North Carolina. When deciding to move to the US, we chose Asheville for the biking, hiking, music, arts, theater and outdoor lifestyle. We were then hooked by the charm and history of this house, the large trees, fenced yard, and natural beauty of the quiet surroundings. It was an enchanting place to raise our then 8 year old daughter. We hope to move back one day.
What makes this property unique
