The owner was very responsive and answered email and text promptly. The property was clean and very roomy. It was also very close to Alpine and Squaw. The hot tub was amazing.
The cabin was perfect! Great layout, loved the jacuzzi and the kitchen! Only request would be that you supply more toilet paper, we had to buy more for ourselves by day 3.

What beautiful surroundings! The condo was well equipped with everything we could need, including towels and linens. Great layout and very spacious as well! Beautifully decorated, and the view of the mountains from the hot tub was breathtaking. Only wish we could have stayed longer than the weekend! Thank you for a relaxing vacation. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to any of my friends!
We enjoyed the location, it allowed us to easily drive to Alpine or Palisades each day. In addition, Tahoe City and it's restaurants were just 10 minutes away. The check-in process was no more complicated than a code for the lock box that contained the house key. Low tech, but just fine; no issues. There were many options when we rented the property, but selected this one due to the hot tub. The day we arrived the tech identified that the previous renters had left it broken. These type of things happen, but the way the repair was handled was very disappointing. We were promised it would be repaired 3 different days, but it was still broken when we checked out at the end of the week. On top of that, I had to reach out each time to learn the status/plan, there was no proactive communication around this issue. In the end we were refunded 100, but if I'd known the hot tub would not be functional I likely would have rented another property. The alternative properties were more up to date then this slightly run down condo. All in all, for a family that has rented 1 or 2 VRBO properties a year for the last decade, this was one of our poorest experiences.
The renovations done make it a nice value to stay in the this area, away from busier areas but still a short drive to Tahoe city or Truckee. We had nice walks along the river, and the pool and hot tub were enjoyed by all, kids and adults. A great place in summer or ski season. The pool table is good for kids just to play around, as the cues are broken and there’s other stuff in the garage. The small gas grill is just ok, getting worn but it works. a few more spoons would be nice, but the dishwasher works well.
We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation. This condo was in a great location! The bit of noise and view of the road was not so bad considering the rest of the view which was really lovely. We enjoyed a float down the river, a STUNNING hike, kayaking on the lake, and a lot of lounging around relaxing in the condo. The deck is small, but that was totally worth it for evening hot tubbing. The kitchen was very well stocked and updated. We made most of our meals there.
We had a few very small complaints...none of these things were a big deal on their own, but if they were fixed, this place would be that much better.
Spoon shortage: as well as the kitchen was stocked, it was odd that there were so few spoons.
Screen door: it kept getting stuck on the track and at times was very difficult to open and close. It also has some tears in it so that could use updating.
The couch: it could use an update. Between the four of us it was a bit challenging to get comfortable at times as the sectional comes apart and is a bit saggy.
My nightstand: the drawer was basically unfunctional. This was the nightstand closest to the closet in the downstairs bedroom.
Clean and spacious place. Plenty of good amenities. Hot tub is awesome. Only minor annoyance is the 2nd floor is super creaky and anyone who walks upstairs you will hear it 😁
Wonderful out door pool! Hot tub on deck was nice. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen nice. Needed more wash cloths for kitchen and bathrooms. Carpets in bedrooms need cleaned.
It was right by the Truckee River we walk down everyday. The place was clean and everything work right. The hot tub was nice in the evenings.

Nice place! Very convenient to ski areas. River Ranch Lodge a great place to eat and so close.
Only issue was parking but due to mounds of snow. Would be nice to have garage available in winter.

Perfect for families and close to everything! Place was wonderfully kept and had great updates
We stayed for Labor Day, and i would definitely stay here again! Mark (the owner) made himself very available through text and phone calls and email the day of check-in, and I have no complaints. The hot tub was great, the kitchen was perfect, beds were comfortable, all the updates and remodel make the condo feel like home. It’s right between squaw valley and Tahoe city, and super convenient. Only suggestion I have there needs to be a towel bar added on the master bath— no where to hang towels up. Overall though— loved it and would love to stay here again.

Close to Squaw Valley and Supplies
There were five of us on this trip. Wife, two teen daughters, and my sister. We opted to have the teens stay in the master bedroom as it has the second futon bed separate from the king bed around the corner. This was a great option as they had more privacy (ie, we didn't see their clutter) and we didn't need to go up another set of stairs given the amount of hiking that we were doing. My wife and I were in the queen bedroom and sister was in the bunk room. It was great having the separate spaces for everyone.
The kitchen and family room remodel is very nice with new flooring and appliances. Plenty of room for the five of us to prepare meals as well as relax. Lots of pots, pans, and small appliances.
Miscellaneous:
Hot tub: My sister (60) was the only person to use the hot tub and she said it was nice but the cover was heavy for her.
Laundry: Having the washer and dryer was a great help as this was the first stop on a long trip so we were able to leave with fresh gear.
Summer travel: We were there in late June so it was pretty warm during the day. Upon arrival, there were two baseboard heaters on, so check that first when you arrive. Once turned off, upstairs windows and patio door opened, it cooled off nicely.
Owner: Very timely with initial booking email and email 24 hours prior to arrival. Provided clear notes about the property. Responsive to email within minutes.
Restaurant: There is a restaurant (Riverview) within walking distance. We only took advantage of it once and wish we had taken more meals there! Service was excellent. Menu had a wide-range of choices (Elk, Salmon, great salads, and of course chicken fingers).
Grill: Tank was full, cleaning and cooking tools were provided. Cooked our brats and hot dogs well, not sure I would try anything delicate on it. I am a bit of a germ-a-phobe so a stainless grate would be a nice improvement.
Beds: Everyone slept well. Beds seemed to be fine. We also skied (yes, in June) as well as did a lot of hiking so the fresh air and exercise made sleeping easy.
Neighbors: Only saw one family during our three day stay. They were pleasant.
Pool: It was being filled during our stay so cannot comment. If this is a big part of your plans, ensure that you connect with the owner in advance.
Our family enjoyed this location very much. As we had many days of vacation to go, we left relaxed and re-charged.

Large, but dated.
Well located. Adequately equipped but decor, furniture, appliances, towels, bedspreads, and carpeting need replacement. Jacuzzi well maintained and clean. Unit would be fine for a large group that doesn't care about old carpets. Excellent directions and instructions.

Perfect Ski Chalet
On the access road to Alpine Meadows, your own hot tub on the deck overlooking the mountains, a well-equipped kitchen that even has beer in the fridge, a cozy pellet stove, plenty of comfortable beds plus several portable beds for extra guests, a pool table, washer and dryer, large dining table for group meals, and an authentic mountain camp feel. What could be better?
For our group that has been traveling for ski trips since 1985, this was a gem. Mark is communicative and helpful. When one of us forgot to pack a small item on check out, he was right on it to mail it - an easy one to blow off for many other renters.

About the host
Hosted by Mark
We're a family of 5....Mark & Diane plus our 3 daughters. We live in Reno and love spending time at Lake Tahoe.
Why they chose this property
Lake Tahoe is the perfect vacation destination with great year round recreation. The north shore of Lake Tahoe is nice because it is less crowded than south shore and we really enjoy getting on the bikes & riding into Tahoe City & along the West shore of Lake Tahoe.
What makes this property unique
There's a new year-round hot tub on our deck with a great view of the stars and the Sierras. The summertime pool in the complex is seldom crowded. The complex also has lots of open space & there's even a short hike behind our complex that is great for small children. The River Ranch is a short walk for great dining & drinks or stop by the deli across the street for breakfast & lunch overlooking the river. Great hikes, biking, and playing in the Truckee River are all a short distance from our condo.
