Beautiful Historic Lakehouse With Breathtaking Views Of Owasco Lake

The view of Owasco Lake from the Lake-house Retreat is spectacular! The cupola offers a unique perspective and view of the lake as well. Built in the 1800's, this house is set back on a large lawn across the street from the lake. The French doors of the main entrance open to a spacious front porch overlooking the lake. The charming and comfortable lake home offers many areas for relaxation as well as large and spacious living quarters.
Upon entering the house there is a downstairs bedroom to the left. This bedroom has a twin bed and a full size bed. The kitchen is beautiful with intricate stained glass inlays in the wooden cupboards. The kitchen is fully equipped. The dining room has a gorgeous crystal chandelier and has a full sized dining table for 10, with matching cabinet and china. There is a half bath downstairs. The living room includes Roku television. There are two comfortable leather couches for your relaxation. This room opens up into the billiard room, for your enjoyment. The house also has wifi access. All bedrooms have ceiling fans. Window a/c units are provided in the bedrooms. There are also some electric fans available.
The second floor master bedroom has a king size bed, with a couch and great view of the lake. Off the master bedroom is the spacious master bathroom which has a jacuzzi tub. The remaining bedrooms on the second floor include a full size bed, two queen size beds and a day bed with trundle. There is a half bath as well on the second floor. Above the second floor is an awesome cupola which is perfect for reading or relaxing. We rent weekly during the busy summer months, Saturday to Saturday usually. Weekend rentals are available outside of the summer season.

Very large, beautiful Victorian home with a large yard and plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. Appreciated the large kitchen, the dining room with plenty of seating, and the laundry room. The front porch overlooking the lake was our favorite spot in the mornings for coffee. We used both kayaks and the canoe. Our dogs were very comfortable as well. Close to shopping but far enough away to enjoy peace and quiet. Watkins Glen State Park Gorge is 1.5 hours away and worth the trip. We visited 2 wineries and had a blast. Next time we will book a winery tour. The owners are organized and check in and check out were simple.

Just finished our family vacation here. We loved the house and all of the room we had for our large family. The back yard is beautiful…we saw deer more than once and the dog loved playing out there. The canoe and kayaks were appreciated for evening outings. Everyone enjoyed many hours enjoying the lake waters. Think our favorite was the front porch; spent lots of time just enjoying each others company and the views. Kitchen is well equipped as well. Didn’t play any pool but the table was used to do a puzzle. Lots of places to shop and dine within 15 minutes. Really loved the Finger Lakes area and hope to return again…just beautiful. Oh, and if you are into wineries there are so many to visit…enjoy!

Access to 2 kayaks and a canoe was a terrific benefit. It was extremely easy to get in and out of the boats and use them. Even our 90 year old mother was able to get in and canoe on the lake.We needed clarification regarding how many bathrooms/showers there were in the house as the listing was unclear to us, however, when we got our answers from the owner quickly and there were plenty of bathrooms for our needs. There is a bath/shower downstairs, a bath/shower upstairs and bath/tub upstairs next to the master bedroom. We LOVED the arrangement of the bath next to the master bedroom since it allowed access directly into the bathroom from either bedroom or hallway, making it much easier to share than having one access through the bedroom. By the way, that bathroom was HUGE! It had 2 sinks and it was quite spacious.We were grateful for AC units in each bedroom so individuals could control the temp in their own space. Kitchen was well equipped. Our stay at the house was very comfortable and we were glad we chose it for this family gathering.

Check-in on Saturday afternoon was very simple. The kitchen was well equipped, and we loved the outdoor gas grill. The windows at the back of the house need shades, because the sun really heated the house in the afternoons. And the lake was cool and clean- lovely for swimming and kayaking.

Our family had a great time at this amazing vacation rental. Easy lake access just across the road, gorgeous wide front porch and a stunning foyer with a sweeping staircase are just some of the offerings of this place. It was the perfect location to unwind and enjoy quality family time.

Lovely Lakehouse

The Owasco Lakehouse was exactly as advertised. It was a clean, spacious, beautiful home that accommodated our family of 11 very well. The kitchen was well stocked as were the towels and linens. Loved sitting out on the large front porch overlooking the lake. The owners were helpful and flexible. We would be happy to stay here again if it works out in the future.

Amazing Family Getaway!

This house is ideal for appealing to multi generations! It accommodated our large family perfectly. The outdoor porch was fantastic for family chats. The large dining room was perfect for family meals and the games provided brought everyone together!

Great Stay

Very accurate description of the property on VRBO. Beautifully restored home with plenty of room for our large family gathering. The kids especially enjoyed the large backyard area and the short walk to the lake. Host was extremely accommodating and quick to respond to any inquiries. Would highly recommend this rental.

After the rain cleared, waking up to see the sun shining off the lake was great. House was perfect for the 10 of us. Commute to SU for commencement events was easy and far better than staying in Syracuse. Highly recommend

Our First Family Vacation at the Lake

We found the property to be the right fit for our family and provided everything we needed for our vacation stay. The hosts met us on the first day and were very friendly and inviting. Warm and welcoming and cozy!

We had a wonderful stay! We had everything we needed including a gas grill to make our burgers and hot dogs for Memorial Day weekend. The kitchen was fully stocked. We enjoyed staying in this older, but well maintained home. The view from the front porch was the icing on the cake!

Weekend wedding getaway

Host was very accommodating and informative about how everything worked. It was a beautiful home with a fabulous view of the lake. The pool table was super fun to have. The hot tub advertised was actually a tub with jets in the master bedroom.

This was an amazing opportunity for a family gathering from NC, SC, and NY. The home was perfect, and I do mean perfect. There was room enough for all, with several areas to just "chillax". The hosts were super communicative and attentive to every detail. My family will return in 2024!

Very unique historic house

It's such a cool old house! The only reason I didn't give this property a 5 rating is because it is in need of some maintenance (mostly cosmetic) and only two bedrooms have A/C ... a couple nights were hot! (in June).

Comfortable Opulence

This was a lovely stay. The home is opulent and comfortable, which is a rare balance. We lacked for nothing, as the owners provided everything we could need, and things we were delighted to find! There are many cozy nooks to enjoy the view of the lake and just steal away to relax. Our family of 6 had room to spread out and also plenty of space to all gather. The dock, the two kayaks and the canoe provided hours of enjoyment for our water-loving family. The yard is fantastic, the porch is a sweet haven, and the billiard table was perfect for late night competition! We were absolutely delighted with our stay and hope to return next year!
